  forgiving.. how do you reconcile the powerful dieity of the ot that ordered the.

  destruction of countless cities with the kneeling jesus who defended.

  the great tribulation wa snotfor osem future end tiemevent but a prophecy about the destruction of jeruslame and the temple in the 1st century.

  jesus plainly told those who were standing in fornt of him that some of them would still be alive when he returned in his kingdom and they were and he did return for them as promised.

  there isno dual fulfillment or types and shadows anymore they were done away with.

  my parents gave my addess to the elders without asking me

  so my folks went to the meeting today and somehow i got brought up and they gave them my address so they can call on me because i'm inactive,i am upset about it because they didn't ask me first,i told my parents i wish they hadn't of done that without asking me first and my dad's response was are you not baptised?

  and i said yes when i was 17 and i don't want to talk to anyone (i'm 51 now) and want to avoid any discussions that may cause me to lose my relationships with family that is still in,,so now i feel my successful fade will be jeapordized.

  I am sure if you were never baptised they wouldn't try and break up your family realtionships, beside you're not even going so many may not even know who you are. I agree with Searcher, stand up to them they have no power over you. Tell them the adress was given without your permission and you don't appreciate it.

  the unknown writer of the gospel of john put the following words in jesus' mouth, "blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.".

  persuading countless generations that it is a virtue to believe incredible things on insufficient evidence, is one of religion's cleverest tricks.. the more incredible the claim; the more flimsy the evidence; the stronger the belief; the greater the virtue.. this is the exact opposite of how we operate in every other aspect of our lives.. rational people must demand objective evidence for everything they are asked to believe.

  "extraordinary claims demand extraordinary evidence".. leaving the dogmatic claims of the watchtower is only a first step.

  What has faith contributed to human knowledge in the last 500 years?-Cofty

  Lots of tranlations of the bible. Reading the bible and all the different translations give us the knowledge that it's only written by humans and not God. Many bible scholars that used to have a religion, left after studying the bible properly.

  It's a book that must be read to be able to make an informed descision about religion.

  yes these days everybody - and anybody - seem to be leaving the jehovers witnesses.so why should you be left out?.

  there was a time when you had to have performed some terrible service to the g.b?

  The shrieking, threatening, insulting fundies add a great deal of clarity to debate in their own unique way.-cofty

  To be fair some religious fundamentalists helped me realise I needed some balance in my beliefs and that their beliefs are not a virtue. We don't all need faith to be virtuous, but some behave in a virtuous manner becuase they believe a God who will punish or reward them, is watching.

  Personally I believe God is the Creator, but I don't think he cares what people are doing. I think he leaves us to our own devices and evolve ourselves. It's not my faith that determines how virtuous I am it's my internal sense of justice that does. But I probably don't always get it right.

  We're doing it!

  I left in Nov 2013, still deprogramming. Very happy not to be going to the RC this year.

  My daughter left in March 2013, and is engaged now.

  should there be a rule against posting PMs ?

  most people feel that it is unethical to post private messages.. how ever there does not seem to be a posting rule against it.. some people unfamiliar with posting on boards may not realize that it is not done to post private messages .

  ( even though it would seem self evident with the word private in it.).

  so what do you think about making it an official posting rule?.
