i've posted on and off here over the past year, but not much recently.
anyone who read my previous posts will know that i started learning all sorts of surprising things about jehovah's witnesses about a year or so ago, well, surprising to me anyway.
i feel very sad now as it is getting harder and harder to go to meetings.
I was a serving brother up to not so long ago, but cited my family situation as a reason for jumping ship from that responsibility.-thedog1
The fact you have stepped down as an elder is a step in the right direction. Well done! you need to concentrate on your wife now and just miss meetings with her, do something fun like go to a movie or out for a meal when you miss the meetings if she is up for it.

This is really sad and at the same time quite frightening. There seems to be no solution how to stop these killers, lets hope the authorities can put some strategies into place to prevent this unprovoked attack happening again.

at the international convention last week i caught up with my old congregation and asked about the young ones...there were 2 answers.
1. they flat out left got a boyfriend etc.
and 2. havent seen them for awhile meaning they faded or went off the grid so as not to be disfellowshipped.
This is all good news, my son goes with his dad and doesn't want to be a JW. I am hoping his opinion remains stable, but I still have my concerns that he may be manipulated into getting baptised by the dangling carrot of more privileges, like getting to hold the mic.
This thread has shown how capeable this generation are and how confident they can be, plus my son has family already out which will make it easier for him to leave when he is of age.

automatic bank payments & being disfellowshipped.
as noted on this site, the organization has in place numerous electronic provisions for people to donate money, ranging from one-off payments through to monthly automatic payments from donors' bank accounts into the organization's.. this is all well and good - and consistent with what lots of organizations - religious or otherwise - do.. but, should a donor be disfellowshipped - or disassociated - is the pre-selected donation provision stopped by the organization itself?
do they have any policy at all on it?
Of course the WT will accept donations from DF'd JWs. Especially if the DF'd JW wants to get reinstated and their donations are then evidence that they are repentant. WT will see this as clean money from a wholesome source. They can twist it how they see fit so as to keep all the money.

hahaha lol, perhaps I am being too critical. I suppose it just gets my back up that they have to use "evidence for evolution" for a title. It's not real evidence for all of evolution it's just the evolution of whales. I am not saying there is anything wrong with the facts either. So perhaps I am being overly critical due to my WT past and not wanting to be duped again possibly.

i really don't understand the concept of forgiveness .
lately in my life several people have thrown that term around so easily ,and i am confused .
is it because we were taught to cut people off so easily as jws that i find it hard to forgive ?.
Forgiveness is subjective, so sometimes it's not appropriate to forgive if the person keeps on hurting you. In other circumstances if someone has turned their life around they have proven they desrve forgiveness. Some people forgive more easily than others and can actually be vulnerable.

at our service meeting we saw the video of a jw explaining his beliefs about 1914.. it was.....well, "underwhelming" does not do it justice.
what is below "underwhelming"?

I am hopeful more JWs will wake up due to this video, if they try and get JWs to imitate the condecending examples with householders, JWs will kick against it and feel uncmfortable. Most JWs know you can't talk to the public like that, it's only the odd few pioneer elders who think they have a mensa IQ that dare talk to house holders as if they're three yrs old.

somewhere hidden well within the jw.org exists an article about the last days of the last days of the jewish system of things .when did the last days of the jewish system of things start was it at the pentecost or before that ?
is that important when we compare jesus' days our days as a way to find what will initiate them ?

There are stages of recovery as he has less time and less inclination it seems like he is stuck in the first stage.
I came out without my husband. He was my ex when I left so I can't speak from that perspective. But My daughter and I left within months of eachother. She has recovered in her own way and we sometimes do argue over JW stuff. One time she got very angry and resentful and I thought she would never speak to me again, but now she has completely worked through it and is really upbeat with me and a chatterbox.
Everyone is different I suppose, she did start a thread on JWN about her story, but she hasn't been back since then, whereas I feel the need to check in daily.

You are obviously offended by my posts. I apologise I didn't realise I would cause offense. It's clear that you have misunderstood me and hopefully we can reach some kind of agreement. Concrete thinkers do not have the ability to have flexibility of thought. If you are a flexible thinker then you are not a concrete thinker. Having flexibility of thought doesn't mean you have the ability to think in abstract terms. Being flexible is different from being an abstract thinker.
You used the phrase " pointing out that your 'concrete' thinker" I am sorry if you thought my post was aimed at you as being a concrete black and white thinker. From all of the posts that I have read from you I see no evidence that you are.
