i suppose part of the fascination i have with this board is, the exotic nature of those making up the member population.

i say exotic because, as you yourselves will agree with, folks such as yourselves don't hang around the christian congregation for long upon making the decision that truth is not for you.

(rom 1:25) this "fading" thing spoken of here likely plays a role into why christians such as me find the average ex-jw to be a bit fascinating.

JW 'cart preaching' trend copied from the russellites

i guess the proper food at the right time on new ways for preaching was taken from the russellites.

years ago i remember seeing them in flea markets, etc, w/ their booth set up.

now suddenly the watchtower org is doing the same thing.

I know where the trollies are set up in my area. I have never been the whole time I have been df'd, but I have heard they are manned by JWs who chat amoungst themselves and are not interested in passersby.

I suppose I could go and see for myself how they are doing in my area

What % of householders would have a clue about the "life saving " message JW`s have brought to their doors these past 100 years.

i`m an optimist and i would say zilch .

i would bet you a million dollars ( if i had a million dollars ) that if you did a survey in the street that you live , asking the householders what is the life saving message jehovahs witnesses bring to your door on a regular basis , they would not have a clue.. and they have been preaching this message for over 100 years .

how inefective can they be .. the probable answers you would get are : they dont take blood transfusions.

I dont think anyone has a clue either. I have been in, half my life. I converted and my family would not be able to tell you what the life saving message is. We spoke about the bible and religion at length over the years, but they always told me I was being brainwashed. LOL! Turns out they were right.

Do you make your own soup?

greetings, soup lovers:.

i have a huge kitchen at my disposal (not my own); vegetables, cans of this and that and spices are scattered about, prepared to go into a cauldron of minestrone i started a few days ago.

i'm preparing ahead so as to freeze the leftovers to heat up later at home over my hotplate.. nothing like a 6-burner gas range to simmer over!.

So today is cold and rainy here in the UK. I made some soup today. Leek and potato with a twist.

4 potatoes

4 leeks

2 onions

lots of cloves of garlic

6 boneless skinless chcken thighs.

Boil water in a pan, chop the potaotes and add to pan when water has come to the boil. Chop the leeks, oinons and garlic set to one side. When potatoes are soft add leeks to pan. In a new pan fry off onions in a little bit of olive oil, add thighs, gently brown on a low heat. When chicken is browned off add garlic. I like my garlic strong, but you can add garlic earlier but be careful it doesn't burn!!! Yuck burnt garlic ruins any dish!!!. Once the onions garlic and chicken are soft and golden add to leeks and potato, add chicken stock or gravy granuels, leave to simmer for ages until meat is soft and soup is thick. Yum Yum!!! Anyone for soup?

The way I feel today, this text means nothing to me. I wanted to read something that would inspire me and inject me with zeal for the Bible. Today I feel contempt for the sciptures they cause me pain.

I believe in God and that he created life, but I don't like him very much and his words especially this verse from lamentations, make me feel negative today.

why am i still single?

currently inactive.

but my dating situation is sort of in limbo and its driving me mad..

For me a man has to be funny, have hobbies and interests, and be a good listener and show genuine interest in me. All this needs be in good balance also, I don't want a stalker, or someone out doing hobbies all the time.

Responsible, reliable and caring are good qualities too.

The reality is though red xjws have a lot of baggage, so we all as individuals must face the fact our past has shaped us.....I hope a womans perspective has helped you. Have a happy search red

The Family Worship Night is a blessing for me (spreads TTATT)

so because of a new job that i got, i have to stay in my parents' city for 6 months.

thereafter i can move.. so i am back at my parent's house.

my dad is fully awakened now, it will just take time for him to accept the invalidity of the blood doctrine and the disfellowshipping doctrine, or anyone for that matter.. my mom was delighted when i said i wanted to join them in the family worship night.

Yes, we have. I just mentioned in another thread, we read an article from jwfacts and jwsurvey in family study. We ripped apart the WT about the GB appointing themselves over the all Jesus' belongings, in the future when he returns.

The one I liked best was going over RS book it asked.....

Is it okay to leave the religion of your parents? That was cool. Me and my ex were not born in, so my son says, "Well you and Dad did so why cant I?"

I reply, "What the WT is teaching is basically, only if they are not JWs what do you think?" My son says "I dont want to get baptised anymore anyway"

Sadly, fading is bad for my marriage

while headship has always been a problem in my marriage, partly because i'm more of a team player and my wife has man issues, now that i'm clearly fading my wife feels that i have nothing of worth to say.. i resist the idea of divorce but this is not much of a marriage.

since she doesn't/ can't hold down a job alimony would be ridiculously expensive.

cheaper to keep her, as they say.. i get zero cooperation or even discussion for any adjustments i feel might be in order for us as we grow older: obabmacare?

Stillin, sounds like you know what you are doing. You have made the descision, sad and expensive it may be. Your kids are older then my youngest. Even thoguh we have been separated since 2010, I don't feel single because of regular contact with my bean head ex.

Like flipper said, get your ducks in a row. Do it carefully and methodically in stages. If you do the financial split slowly while you are married, the actual divorce could be easier. But don't take advice off me, I am the woman and got taken for a ride.
