Yes it takes time to settle, but you have a boyfriend that has known you for years and you seem to have a close bond. I hope he continues to treat you well

A phonecall with my parents resulted in me being told that I was in effect, dead to them. As well as this, my mam told me not to have children in case they ever hurt me as much as I hurt her. I hung up the phone.-ansensier
First of all welcome, I am from the UK too Liverpool.
What your mum said must have really hurt you. I would never say that to my daughter. When I was a JW I was really strict and said we should always rely on Jehovah, but when injustices came our way and my then 19 year old daughter left I supported her and left too.
I feel for you losing your mum like that especially if you had a close bond. I wish there was something else I could do to fix it. Writing a letter is a good idea and keep on writing, you may break the hold WT has on her.

the past five weeks have been perhaps the most painful in my life as a witness.. some months ago a young man (i'd say in his late thirties or early forties) began attending meetings at my kingdom hall.
he had just moved to my area from another state.
he had disassociated himself from his home congregation many years back, when he was 20 years old and going through many of the typical trials and temptations most young men experience.. two of the elders met with him initially, and they later shared the details with the body of elders.

It's so nice to see you really understand what a problem the policy of reinstatement is. I couldn't get reinstated either after five letters and 18 months of attending all meetings and doing all prep for meetings.
My daughter knew I was praying more than her so she left WT and talked to me.
Well done for being humble enough to admit the only way to effect change is to leave.

so i went out today with my broken leg and got accosted by an old lady, with some magazines.. it was my first ever encounter with a jw in ten years, and i had said 'i know you are jw's, i'm not interested thank you.
" twice.....then she started talking about my broken leg and how wonderful we are made and how amazing the healing process is.... and that's when it all started...."i used to be a bethelite pioneer, now i'm an atheist doctor...".
she was with me a good 30 mins, her elder husband left very annoyed but she stayed, and she was dying to hear everything i spurted out, despite aggressively defending every point, from military engines to paedophilia.
But this was the point that led him to raise his white flag and go sit in his car. It was a hot day and I didn't envy him. He certainly didn't appear happy to me! - Snare

He would have been mulling it over and then they both would have been talking about the conversation just like we are, you struck a chord and now it's upto them to either be honest with themselves or follow blindly. You snapped me out of it, I am sure you will snap others out of it too.

i left around a decade ago, life has not been easy, but it has been profoundly better than the jw robotics my earlier life chapters resembled.. my current life was going so well, too well...... and finally the nemesis of jahooha came out from his dark hiding place.
no longer in gods tent i was as vulnerable as the chinese job and his unfortunate sheep and children.. satan, bless his socks of cotton, has finally attacked, he broke my leg the dark lordy bastard.. a spiral fracture of the fibula and various fractures the ankle joint.. the worst of all his evil doings was the story i have to tell people, it's 'mechanism of injury'..... i slipped on some grass.
yes the devilish ball rash, got me good.. so now, i sit bored, wishing i had meetings to prepare for, talks to write and i long for the live bombing i would have received as an interesting new kingdom hall event in the decades of waiting on jahooha..... but all i have is some lame ass, american apostates on a forum..... tchhhh.... .
I missed this post Snare, sorry to hear you slipped on the grass, but I am so glad you didn't fall off your new bike and smash it up.
It must be so annoying not being able to ride your bike.

I like the way you call them apathy trollies. The JWs have nothing to do standing there all day. I always approach them if I am free as they have no one else chatting to them. I normally tell them my story and see if they respond favourably. Some cut me off and direct me to Bethel or my elders, but some actually listen and agree that there is injustice.
Some give me their experiences. As long as I get a listening ear I will always approach them, you never know who will respond, have doubts and do some research and eventually leave

i've met a few.
i'm not talking about the jw who, whether df'd or not, falls off the radar and just gets on with living a normal life - good luck to them and may there be many more!.
i mean the former jehovah's witness who is now enjoying all the benefits of a cult free life thanks to the efforts of many bloggers, posters and activists, but is critical of the efforts of someone close them to free more jws.
I agree with you Nic, I haven't read the full thread yet but I was stimulated to respond early. Many freed ex JWs are embarrassed of their past and tell active exJWs to shut up and stop being active. While I don't agree with it I don't rub it in their faces.
I don't put anything up on my FB page and I don't approach JWs uless I am alone or the person with me doesn't mind.
I can understand they are embarrassed and want to put it all behind them but I don't condone it. They should get over their embarrassment and be more understanding of what we are doing to help other JWs.

i have just found out that my brother (who was one of a bunch that shared this login) has died.. he and his wife were living in another country where they once pioneered.
i didn't see him that often.. such an empty feeling.....
there are literally about thirty young single very good looking sisters in this one kingdom hall under the age of 30. that is just one kingdom hall.
in the circuit there are literally hundreds of young beautiful jw girls under 30 who are single and anxious to get married.
about two years ago, this one single good looking brother who is about 30 years old and who is an elder married this plain looking sister who is 59 years old.
Well I think guys in general like older women. I am divorced and 41 yrs now and dating in the outside world. It's been fun and good experience. One of these experiences is that I get a lot of interest from guys in their 20's. Personally it's a big turn off for me and I did date one guy that was in his late 20's.
They seem to want stable and mature women instead of girls their age to support, and maintain their looks, hair extensions, nails, fake tan etc.
I also agree with another poster, some of these JWs might have mummy issues.
