I predict:

1. The WT will lose at least 95% of the pending child abuse cases against them which are tried this year.

2. Assets the WT has hidden will be found and levied upon.

3. The manner the WT uses to transfer assets abroad will be exposed.

4. Legal repercussions will include elders of incorporated congregations being held jointly liable - in tandem with the GB.

5. In addition to facing jail time, these elders and members of the GB will be sued personally in civil court and will lose.

6. The physical Kingdom Halls of congregations affected will go up for auction to pay liability costs.

7. Troubles which affect members at the local level (such as elders being sued and the loss of KHs) will cause entire congregations to seek more information into the events leading up to these legal decisions.

8. Discovering "the truth" behind the silentlambs cases will cause dramatic drops in WT membership, especially in western nations.

9. The publicity and loss of members will embolden the GB to forbid it's members from watching TV, and reading newspapers, magazines or books which are not sanctioned by the WT. They will also institute a complete ban on internet use.

10. The WT will all but give up on evangelising western nations, and will focus instead on third world nations whose people are far less educated and are therefore, more easily manipulated.

11. Because of the fallout of these cases, many who post on this board today will see loved ones leave the WT.

This story says so much about the "love" in the WT. I am so sorry you and this family had to go through what you did, and I can understand why you felt such anger - I felt it too, just reading this story. I was especially angered over the idea that these people were being "punished" for the perceived transgression of laziness. Who are the JW's to not only cast judgment on others, but to mete it out, as well?

You did the right thing, Orange - many would succumb to the pressure. I admire you for sticking to your guns and doing what you knew to be right.

i once saw a website posted that showed a "real time" chart of religious bodies throughout the world.

it showed the numbers of each religious group and it actually would show the growth or decline in real time.

does anyone know what i'm talking about?

Movement to 'Draft" Hillary

some months ago i heard that hillary will be drafted as president at the democratic convention.

well, this is no longer a rumor.

on the hannity & colmes show last night, foxnews, this 'rumor' was confirmed to be true.. the reason for the public silence (not told on the show) but by the rumor mill, is to keep hillary on a low profile, not to create a public stir.

I agree. They are so smart, that they have figured out how to live off the backs of taxpayer's for the rest of their lives. Of course, the best social program they ever came up with was how to get their own mortgage covered...

Hillary Rodham Clinton, as a New York State Senator, now comes under this fancy "Congressional Retirement and Staffing Plan," which means that even if she never gets re-elected, she STILL receives her Congressional salary until she dies. If Bill outlives her, he then inherits HER salary until HE dies. He is already getting his Presidential salary until he dies. If Hillary outlives Bill, she also gets HIS salary until she dies. Guess who pays for that? WE DO!

It's common knowledge that in order for her to establish NY residency, they purchased a million dollar-plus house in upscale Chappaqua, New York. And of course, t hey are entitled to Secret Service protection for life.

But, here is where it becomes interesting. Their mortgage payment hovers at around $10,000 per month. However, an extra residence HAD to be built within the acreage to house the Secret Service agents. So, the Clintons charge the Federal Government $10,000 monthly rent for the use of that extra residence, which is just about equal to their mortgage payment. This means that we, the taxpayers, are paying the Clinton's salary, mortgage, transportation, safety and security, retirement accounts, as well as the salaries for their 12-man staff! And to top it all off, this woman stood on the Senate floor on February 25, 2003, and had the nerve to speak out against the high salaries of Corporate CEO?s! Does she think that we don?t see that her words and actions are inconsistent?

i'm feeling very antsy, i've been waiting for a much bigger "other shoe to drop" since 9/11.. i don't know if it's all the years of the apocalyptic jw thinking but i still live with a haunting fear that the whole works is headed for a spectacular crash.

i wonder how helpless chinese villagers felt when they saw ghenghis khan's hordes on the horizon heading toward them.

I can completely relate to what you are feeling. I have felt this way since 9/11. In fact, it has affected my life so drastically, that I didn't go to work that day, or the next or the next one after that. In fact, the last day I ever worked a job outside of my home was September 10, 2001. The early dawn hours of 9/11 was the last time I ever had hope in this world - and the first time I actually realized that my family or I could die at the hands of evil. In fact, it was the first time in my life I ever truly believed that Armageddon wasn't just some story my JW mother used to scare me with. And it was the last time I listened to a music station on the radio - I obsessed on the news, I needed to know every single thing that was going on at every single moment. I was AFRAID. However, I want to make the point here - I was NOT afraid because my country told me I should be - I was afraid because real terrorists showed me that I should be. Real terrorists struck in my homeland and I never dreamed I would ever see that happen in my lifetime. If they could do it once, they can do it again.

These days, I am not so fearful (thank goodness). However, whatever fear I do harbor is not because the terror alert has been raised a notch - it is because I know that no matter how hard we try to keep these evil people out of our country, it is impossible to keep them all out, and it is a matter of time before they strike again. I APPRECIATE that our nation employs the "threat level system." Even if it is a false alarm, at least I know that my country is keeping an eye on things and is trying to keep me informed so I can make choices about my child and myself. The victims of 9/11 didn't have those choices - whether they would have made the same choice anyway or not. I do have the choice, and so do those of us who did not die at the hands of terrorists that day. I appreciate that they are doing their best to make this country as safe as humanly (not divinely) possible.

That said, I sometimes get a bit frustrated with people who "poo poo" the threat level system and accuse our government with trying to have their own little terrorfest simply for using the threat level system. Admittedly, until recently, the administration was not as disciminating as they have become when it has decided to raise the threat level to orange. But to go so far as to say that they were trying to control us through the use of this system is a bit of a stretch, IMHO. What would our government stand to gain by using this system to control us? If everyone stayed home on orange days, it would have a large impact on our economy. It would lower our productivity, and reduce gasoline consumption from which the government receives revenue. I see no advantage to controlling us through the use of this system. Rather, I think the people who don't like the system, are the same people who thought Bush should have known the exact second and mode d'emploi the terrorists would strike/use. If they are so unhappy with the system he came up with to help keep us warned of attacks, what better solution can they offer up?
