This is just a very small sampling of WT "entities" I have found as well. I have not cross-referenced any of them against your list, but each and every one of these entities posted below show at LEAST one address as 25 Columbia Hts in Brooklyn. Many of them are used in conjunction with more than one address. Still ferretting everything out and will bring you more as more is available!

PLEASE READ THIS IMPORTANT NOTE: All of these are separately ?registered? Watchtower corporations and ?not? local congregations, and have ?slightly different name? designations. When a corporation registers with a state, their corporate name must be EXACT ... and any slight changes, SUCH AS ABBREVIATIONS, MISPELLINGS, CAPITALIZATIONS, PERIODS, AND COMMAS ARE IMPORTANT and are made part of that exact corporate name. There is a legal purpose for this. Many of these ?at the end? show up as Kingdom Halls, but that is because they use a Kingdom Hall for a Branch or Special operation.

What you have said above applies here as well. However, I will tell you that not all of these "entities" are associated with Kingdom Halls. I am still investigating exactly what they ARE associated with. Additionally, I can not find any kind of a statement in the State of New York saying these are legal entities, no fictitious business filings, or corporate filings. This is not to say they don't exist, I just haven't found any. In fact, the way they come up in my data base, it appears as if these are suppossed to be human names, versus company names. However, the information I get is entered into the database by humans, so it could just be the way they were entered. Based upon what I have seen so far, I have strong suspicions that this is not an accident. Much, much more to follow.

When did the watchtower become a cult?

from looking at various cult information, and warning signs of an unsafe group i beleive the jw's to be a cult, but how did they become one?

it started as a religious periodical in the 1870s, and somehow progressed to being a faith, a religion, and then from there progressed to become a cult.

when did this happen, and how?

Wow! I didn't realize I wasn't the only one researching all of this! I can add a freaking boatload to what you've got! I was going to wait to make sure I had all my ducks in a row, however, I think I'll just compile everything and add to your list! JW's Legitimizing Adultry?!

i don't know if this has been posted before, but a friend of mine sent this to me, and i thought some might be interested.

apparently this is a court case which was heard in the phillipines in august of this year and printed in the phillipine daily inquirer.

the article is in regards to supreme court rulings regarding the separation of church and state, and picks up in the middle of the article as copied and pasted below: .

Ok. I'm confused. If a government does not allow for a divorce (and therefore does not recognize second marriages), wouldn't this get the undivorced-but-cohabitating people accused of bigamy? If so, how is it that a religion can tell the lawmakers where to stuff it and "over ride" the law with a scribbled note that says "it's okay for this person to remarry 'cuz we say so" - especially when the religion that is doing so as a minority religion in that country?

Please don't mistake my questions for doubting you - it's just that I can't get over the audacity of these people who claim they get their inspiration from God! Unbelievable!

Is It Possible To Sucessfully SUE The Society Or Elders???

It all depends on the contract between the lawyer and the plaintiff. Most lawyers require retainer fees, and when their expenses burn those up, they will ask for more. Makes it tough on the "little guy."

... For example, the fact that we are a predominantly Catholic nation does not justify applying the moral standards of the Catholic faith in judging the moral norms of other established religions.

This principle figured prominently in the resolution of the second case, Estrada vs Escritor (A.M. No. P-02-1651, Aug. 4, 2003). Soledad Escritor, a court interpreter in the Las Piñas regional trial court, was accused of cohabiting with a certain Luciano Quilapio, while they were still married to other persons. Their relationship of 23 years had borne a son. The complainant, Alejandro Estrada, alleged that this constituted disgraceful and immoral conduct under existing laws and civil service rules. In her defense, Escritor claimed that as members of the Jehovah's Witnesses, their living together had the approval of their sect as proven by a Declaration of Pledging Faithfulness which they executed in 1991. By virtue of this act, their union was legitimized by the Jehovah's Witnesses and they were, therefore, to be regarded as husband and wife. Ergo, no violation of any law or rule as this would be an unconstitutional violation of their religious freedom.

Speaking through Justice Reynato S. Puno, eight justices of the Supreme Court, a simple majority, sided with Escritor and remanded the case to the Office of the Court Administrator, and ordered the Solicitor General to examine her claimed religious belief and practice and to present evidence in justifying an exception to prevailing law and jurisprudence governing illicit relations.

In other words, the decision shows that the Supreme Court is prepared to adopt a policy of benevolent neutrality in its interpretation of the establishment and free exercise of religion clauses of the Constitution, unless it can be demonstrably proven that there is compelling state interest that would negate such an accommodation, such as a clear and present danger to established institutions of society and the law.

The far-reaching significance of this decision can readily be gleaned from the fact that if Escritor were not a Jehovah's Witness, her actuations and behavior would indeed constitute disgraceful and immoral conduct, as well as adultery and concubinage, under prevailing law and jurisprudence.

In the US, I believe anybody can sue anyone for any reason. I think what "Mouthy" was trying to say is that yes, you can TRY to sue them, but because the WT lawyers keep getting time extensions, etc., etc., it eats up any funds the plaintiff may have to pursue the case. So, when the money dries up, the plaintiff's lawyer walks. So although the BOE can be sued, this essentially puts them in a *nearly* impenetrable position. The only way to make this work is to get a class action suit together, which increases the chances of the case actually going to court. Of course, you gotta find a lawyer who will take the case....

.......i just noticed your post........can't say i blame you for thinking that.

i mentioned i'm currently an elder and don't plan on leaving the organization...........but i probably won't be an elder much longer......as i'm not exactly the "ball of fire" they want.

I've read your previous posts and I do not believe you are a hypocrite. I don't know how long you read on this site before actually posting, but in case you are not aware, there are some in here who are also active jw's, but they come in to stir things up a bit rather than seek honest answers, as you do. I'm not pointing any fingers here, I just wanted to let you know that if someone gives you a hard time, just remember that not everyone in here is on the same page.

I know you've said that you've no intentions of leaving the borg, and I think that has to be your choice. My thoughts on this are that there may come a time when it won't be your choice - unless you want to completely "repent". If that time comes and you need support, you can find it here - most people are quite welcoming and willing to reach out to help.

In the meantime, welcome to the board! It's nice to have you here!

I think looking at it from a different angle, such as the State of Texas has done (see Country Girl's links in this thread) is more viable. The laws there (and in other states with similiar laws) address the issue of Mandatory Reporting, versus the "freedom to practice one's religion."

The passage SFJ says here

"Jehovah's Witnesses have a constitutional right by and through the First and Fourteenth Amendments, respectively, to be free from a government order compelling the church to disclose its confidential and exclusive religious doctrines, teachings and beliefs," the motion states

talks about protecting the confidential and exclusive religous doctrines, teachings, and beliefs. Is pedophilia a JW doctrine? Is it a JW teaching? Is it a JW belief? No! (At least, not officially!) Therefore, reporting pedophilia would in no way hamper one's ability to practice their religion - but the WT would like for everyone to think it would. The truth of the matter is the WT doesn't report pedophilia because they don't want anything to besmirch their name and thereby, cause any of their "volunteer labor force" to leave the "truth." They will use any argument they can think of to confuse the issue - which is what they do with their members every day. It's "business as usual" for the WT - and they don't like that some states are wising up and taking a stand as Texas has done.

What would be really helpful is to compile a list based on Country Girl's post outlining which states have not yet adopted Mandatory Reporting laws, and get letter-writing campaigns going where it is needed most. If all 50 states adopt these regulations, the WT has nowhere to hide (in this country).

BTW - I don't visit silentlambs like I should. Perhaps there is something like this that is already going on there. I'd check right now, but it's time to decorate the tree, and so I gotta go. I'll check back in the morning to see if there are any responses.

We've been robbed

dave and i went grocery shopping today, and after we came home, he noticed the propane tank cover for our rv was on the neighbor's front lawn.

on closer inspection, he discovered someone stole one of the propane tanks..............the full one, of course.

the trailer is only a year old.
