I wonder if thats where Saddam hid his WMD.
Actually, I think Elsewhere has them stored somewhere on a lilly pad. Rumor has it that Timothy McVeigh broke into his stash...

today i had an interesting conversation, not with a christian believer but a muslim believer, .
he was trying to recruit me into the faith--so i thought i would pose the question to him about why his god watches as 20,000 believers (muslims) women, children, etc lost thier lives-.
his explanation i thought was straight out of a christian handbook on.
Dave,
The kid is as sharp as a bowling ball and damn proud of it ... I warned him, what else can I do?
*in a helpful tone* "Pray he finds a whetting stone?"

Had to bring this back to the top! One of the most hilarious threads I've ever read!
P.S. Greven, were you the one that posted the picture of the "New Light Stop Light" on this thread? I think this is where I saw it - it was a crack up! Repost if possible, please!

was there any event, post, or episode that stood out on this board that will remain memorable for the year 2003??
?
I didn't join the board until summer, and then, only posted once in a while until about October or so. But the most memorable thing on the board for me was this particular thread that made me howl!

Prince 'heaps reproach' on Watchtower Bible & Tract Society
I don't think Prince heaps one-tenth of the reproach on The Society as The Society heaps on themselves! Too bad Parade didn't mention that!

Actually, I'm not a former cult member - by the skin of my teeth. My mother and step-father have been in the borg for 40 years. I grew up with my dad so I didn't have to live it 24/7/365. However, it affected me and my brother, and I watch it continue to affect my parents to this day. At any rate, I'm sorry you did have to live it! Does empathizing count?!

what would be really funny, would be Couric and Limbaugh....co anchors! LOL
OMG!! If they did that, they'd have to have paramedics on stand-by for every show! LOL!

Edited to add:
ps...i hope you know i wasn't referring to you personally in my post, but just what i have experienced as a lot of people's approach to news and information!
No worries! I didn't. Besides, even if you did, you owed me one over my "opinions vs. facts" comment on another thread. Sometimes I get a little carried away, but truly don't mean anything by it. Friends?!

So it was perfectly concionable to do so before? Hmmm....
It was perfectly legal! We weren't any more able to see the future and how despicable Saddam was going to turn out to be than the next guy. At least when our "allies" were supplying him, they KNEW and did it anyway - against international law, I might add. IMHO, that's a big difference.

I agree with you that it is human nature for people to gravitate towards news sources that most reflect their own world views. However, as an individual, I do look at other points of view and have recently begun reading foreign news sources, as well. In fact, where possible, when given the option to chose an American source or a foreign source to back-up a point, I will use the foreign source, as I feel it lends more credibility towards whatever view I am pontificating on at the moment! That said, even with competing view points, I will admit that although I now see some things differently than I did a few months ago, I still have my conservative slant - and probably always will. At any rate, I think the point that we both agree upon is that there is no one source that is completely balanced. If there were, we would see an hour of Katie Couric followed by an hour of Rush - and we both know that ain't gunna happen!
Anyway, nice chatting with you!
