I was shocked one day when I was talking to a friend of mine who "disassociated" himself from the WT in the mid-80's and was heavy in the "apostate movement". He told me that he is thinking about going back to the JW's and be "reinstated" but he was not sure if "disassociated" ex-jw's could be reinstated. I thought he was joking at first because he was one of the people that helped me out of the WT. After I realized that he was serious I asked him why would he want to go back? He told me that the churches have nothing to offer and they are so full of hyprocrites. He said he know that JW's have many skeletons also but he feels that maybe they are the truth. If anybody has "disassociated" themselves out there and tried to be reinstated tell me what happens so I can tell my "disassociated" friend. I don't want to hear from Disfellowshipped ex-jw's because my friend says that most of DF'd people were DF'd for immorality and Disassociated people left over doctrinal issues.Again my question is can Disassociated people get reinstated or what do they call it "reassociation" let me know.

Do you think that JW's will ever get rid of the 1914-doctrine?
by jads inafter awhile the jw's will have to do something about 1914 when it crumbles right before them.
how long can they hold onto this russell-invented doctrine?

I will never forget how naive I was concerning the JW's when I was devout JW. I thought that JW's would not be "racist" after they had learned the "truth". Boy was I wrong! I went to a hall that was 90% Caucasian and about 10% black and it seemed that every time someone was "reproved" or DF'D they were always black. One day I walked into the men's bathroom and there were 2 white elders in there talking about how these "niggers" are corrupting the hall and why don't they go to a hall in "Africa" They did not see me and I went home a cried like a baby. I was in total shock I did not go to the meeting for about 6 months. When the elders finally came to my house to put me on trial for apostasy(They had heard I was reading Ray Franz's book and a so-called friend of mine who was white, went to the elders) I went balistic on them. I cursed them out and told them never to step foot in my house again or I would have my "gangbanging" buddies of mine who hated white folks come by and teach them a lesson. The two elders ran out of my home and I never went to that racist hall again. I went to a hall that was black and hispanic and felt alot of love until I got sick of the Watchtower Society as a whole and DA'ed myself.

Who's To Blame For The Child Abuse Problem?
by Englishman injust trying to get my head around this one.
with the jailing last week of a london dub paedophile, i was wondering: .
is it the religion itself that gives these perverts the feeling that they are invincible and immune from punishment when they commit these acts?

I totally agree with the earlier posters who all said that it is not just the WT society it happens in all religions and organizations. I think that problem with ex-jws and opposers of the WT society is that they only focus on the WT as the "big" bad wolf and condone and accept any kind of immoral behavior if it is in the churches. The same kind of scenario reminds me of how many "white" racist people have towards black and hispanics a crime is committed they scream and shout to punish the minority but when the same crime is committed by "white" people they have nothing to say. This is a sick, distorted perspection of human behavior. As long as one of our own does it it is ok but when an outsider does it we want them fried and punished. Bad conduct should not be accepted no matter who does it. When those 4 white cops beat Rodney King many of my "white" co-workers said he got what he deserved, but when Reginal Denny(a white motorist) was beat severely by 4 black guys during the riot those same white co-workers of mine were screaming and shouting to punish the black guys. Religious prejudice is the same like racial prejudice it is ugly and does not deserve to be listened to. I think many posters on this site and others are prejudice against the WT.

Alcohol and the Witness
by Maverick inwhen i first was studying with the duds, one of the things i found interesting is that duds are ok with drinking alcohol, "in moderation".
i never was a big drinker, usually one drink if i'm out and will have to drive and no more than three in any 24 hour period, even if i'm staying home.. i wonder if the fact the "the judge" was a rumpot contributed to the soft attitude on alcohol?
most of the brothers i knew were big drinkers and many of the older elders drank more with dinner that i drink in a weekend.

I have read this post and I feel that people just don't have a live if all they can do is sit back and boo-hoo about the "wicked" Watchtower Society. Come on now get a life. Especially Nina. All you do is complain, complain, complain about when you were a JW. And also the sarcastic remarks about the Watchtower is becoming staled and old and "booooring". I hope your husband or boyfriend does not have to listen to your whining. My God if I was the JW's I would have "kicked" you out also. Get a life. You have drunk Catholics, drunk born-again Christians , drunk Jews, drunk Mormons, ; Why do all of you ex-JW's think that the JW's are the only religion in the world that has hurt their members. Yes I can understand the anger when you first leave but after awhile people start thinking that you are the "crazy" one not the JW's. Alcoholism is a "disease" that affects every race, every age, every religion in the world. By constantly pointing the "blame" finger at JW's you isolate others that cause harm on people. My Born-Again Christian friend was seduced then sexually harrassed by her "born-again" christian pastor. He finally left his wife for his mistress but not one person put a post on the internet about this well known pastor's behavior. It seems that Born-Agains and ex-JW's are ok with all kinds of church misconduct but the minute JW's are involved in misconduct they will stand on the mountaintops screaming and shouting about the big bad Watchtower Society. Come on now.

Did Any Of You Ever Believe In The Explanations Of JW Prophecy?
by minimus inas a born and raised jw, i was taught that not only did we have the truth but we also had the keys to understanding of bible prophecy.
i was able to explain the gentile times timetable, the reason for 1914,etc.
but there came a time when i really came to appreciate that i had no real foundation for these "truths".

As a JW from the time I was in kindergarten I must say that when the society was pushing 1975 as the end of the world I was terrified. Because I thought I was not going to make it since I was not baptized at the time. I was in the 8th grade and I was frantic because I thought that Since Armaggeddon was due and I was not baptized that I was doomed for destruction. Boy what a relief when 1976 I was still alive. That is when I start wondering How could Jehovah be wrong on 1975. But I still believed that JW's were the truth. I had a hard time accepting the 1918 prophecy concerning when Rutherford and his leaders were arrested and that was the prophecy concerning the two witnesses being revived in the streets. I just could not swallow that one. Then when they start changing the "generation'' rapidly until they had to do away with it I had already left the JW's in 1989 I just found out about the "new Light" on the generation about a year ago I did not even know about it. But I knew when I left that athey would have to change it because time was running out. I wonder what they are going to do when the year 2014 arrives after a 100 years from 1914?

"Do JW's and Born-Again Christians have something in common?
by jads inthis might be funny to some people but i really feel that the reason that jw's and born again christians hate each other so much is because they are so much alike.
they see themselves in each other.
i have been on both sides of the spectum and believe me all of the born-agains that post on this site are more like jw's then they want to admit to themselves.

Do You Feel That Your Parents "Did a Good Job" Raising You?
by minimus inbeing raised a witness, my mother has asked me whether or not i held her responsible for her bringing me up in the way that she has.
i feel that my upbringing is something my mother can be proud about.
even though i do not believe in the "truth", i do feel that she did a good job of raising us.

I feel that my mom was the best mom in the world. Yes she has been a JW for 35yrs
and she raised me and my brothers and sisters(6 of us) to be strong willed people and to speak up for what we believed in. She never has a judgemental attitude with none of her children. My brother was "disfellowshipped" a few years ago and she was the one who encouraged him to go to the elders she did not "rat" him out. And while he was disfellowshipped she still showed her love for him but still was a faithful JW. One of the things I admire about my mom is that she believes in the Watchtower but she not dogmatic about it. She has a mind of her own. You have to be like that to survive the many changes and scandals the Watchtower Society has been caught in. I am like that as well. I believe in some of the things the Watchtower teaches but other things I feel is balogna. Witnesses that try and act "superior" to other Witnesses tend to be the ones that come crashing down head first. I am "disassociated" but my mom still treats me with love and respect and I do the same to her. I don't beat her upside the head trying to get her to leave the Watchtower like so many ex-JW's do with their JW family members. In time they will see it for themselves like I did.

Have you or have you known someone disfellowshipped more than once??
by anakinsrise ini cam close to being disfellowshipped once,i was a servant so they only took awy all of my duties, and priv's.but i know a sister even dated her for 10 months who has been disfellowshipped 3 times.it was kind of funny because her 2 fleshly sisters got disfellow'ed around the same time and they all didnt seem to care and went to jamaica for 3 weeks.1 of them even came back pregnant.

I remember a sister in my kingdom hall that just could not stay out of trouble. First she got
pregnant when she was 16yrs old she was not "baptized" at the time so nothing happened to
her but low and behold she got "baptized" about 3 months after the baby was born and next
she got "disfellowshipped". She came to the hall faithfully for about 1 year with nobody
talking to her but she got "reinstated" but no sooner did she get reinstated then an
annoucement was made that "sister so and so" has been reproved for conduct unbecoming
of a christian. And then 6 months later "sister so and so" was "disfellowshipped" again.
Well about a year later she was "reinstated" again and the last I heard that she was
"disassociated" for going to the military. I just could not believe a person would go through
all of that for what to be kicked out again. I gave my "disassociation" letter to the elders
when they came to my house in the year 1993 and I never looked back. My friends started
to "shun" me immediatly after they announced my name at the hall but I am free. And you
might laugh but I started going back to the Kingdom Hall thinking about getting "reinstated"
but the elders treated me like crap since I "disassociated" myself and was not "disfellowshipped" It seems that they treat you worse when you disassociate because
they feel you are of the "evil slave" class when you disassociate but when you are
disfellowshipped you are just taken over by weakness. That was the eyeopener I needed
so I walked out of that Hall and never step foot in it again. They did me a favor by rejecting
me.
