I heard Kool-Aid is to be served to all attendees.

"Why would everyone be included this time...unless something special is about to happen?"
by Separation of Powers inso, i am talking to a long time friend, you know, the non-judgmental type that doesn't really mind that i don't go to many meetings and am never out in service.
he tells me that the annual meeting is coming up and that the whole congregation is invited...well, at least the active "approved" whole congregation.
he speaks with an excitement that puzzles me, like he just got invited to the locker room of his favorite football team when they won the superbowl.

Anyone notice the drone flying around taking pictures? Wonder if it belonged to the dubs or local news? The Watchtower folks always seem to be able to buy any piece of gear they want.

Did Anyone Apply To Go To Bethel, And Not Be Accepted?
by LoisLane looking for Superman inthe brother i loved, married someone else.
at the ripe old age of 20, i thought my life was over.
if i was catholic, i probably would have joined a nunnery.

While we did our special assignments there a few times, we never filled out an application for Beth-hell service. I'm glad we never fell for the pitch.
On a side note I always thought it quite pompous of them to not send a "thanks, but no thanks" letter to those who were not called. Even 'worldly' companies have the courtesy to send some type of response.

The public website is only part of the picture. They use the web for much more these days, witness the advent of elder correspondence and reporting via the site.
I know of one dub who has been quite influential in some of this. Haniph Latchman, a professor at the University of Florida. There has been some discusssion about him on this site previously.

Why the "New Light" in the July 15 Watchtower?
by Indian Larry init seems to me that in the past large flashes of "new light" have come when the governing body was backed into a corner.
for example the multiple re-defining of what a generation is until it ended up the ridiculous "overlapping" meaning.. what is the reason this time?
are they worried because the number of partakers has been going up?

They have been trying to institute this "teaching" for some time. Some of the old guard were opposed to this. For example: The ones pushing for this told Dan Sydlik to stop opposing the change as he was standing in the way of a benevolent dictatorship. Of course most of the present GB were minions of Ted (The Boss) Jaracz a principal supporter of this concept.
It's all about control. Just greed in another form.

Mic issues
by msconcerned inso on friday all day, the mic guy did a bang up job.....until david splane got to the podium.
it looked like he discussed how the mic should be set up for him, then finally when the mic guy was walking away david says " well im glad we got that settled".
then today same thing, he got the mic guy to readjust the mic for him again.

Those guys who challenge the mic man are always pompous twits in my mind. The sound crew knows what they need in order to get coverage. Many venues are feedback heavens, so a close working distance may be required.
I know a sound guy that used to turn down the sound on these pompous twits so no one could hear them well. He blamed it on the speaker messing with the equipment.

calling all elders - what goes on at the week long elders school?
by not bitter inmy dad is currently attending a week long elders school.
dad is in his 70's and not in great health at the moment so this is adding to my anger that he is having to leave the house at 7am and doesn't return until 6pm and then has to lock himself away to study further in preparation for the next day.. he has also been told he is not to discuss anything about the school with other elders until they have all attended.
what are they learning about that isnt' already out there for all to read anyway.. they can't be learning more bible stuff as the bible is there to be read by the general public so i can only assume that its all top secret stuff that the rest of the congregation can't know about.

Missed the one week course they're offering now. From all reports it's more of the same.
Just for kicks I pulled my copy of the 1972 Kingdom Ministry School course that hasn't been opened in years. This was a two week thing that ran all day 9-4:30 M-F and 9-Noon on Saturday. The first one I attended was taught by Bruce Giffin, a pompous DO who took delight in putting down the brothers in attendance. Looking back over the curriculum I see that it wasn't much different than the two day schools I've attended in the past. Do more, you better do this, and so on.
Glad I'm done with all that drivel.

If this could only happen during some prude of a CO's visit. Maybe during the final talk he gives.
Loved the two old ladies. That would be sister "never laid with a man" and her lifelong roomate "moldy toes", stomping off to have a touch of the recipe in the ladies room.

Invites, Parking and the DC - a true laughable story
by wizzstick ini'm in a major uk city, and we're assigned to an out of city location for our district convention.. to set the scene this site is off a busy motorway (freeway).
it's a football (soccer) stadium.
there is nothing around aside from one petrol (gas) station which also has a tiny supermarket in it.

When attending a convention in Daytona Beach, FL some years ago. We had to go late since we were giving a ride to a new brother who worked nights. We actually held two parking tickets. When we arrived about 10am there were no parking slots remaining in the lot. After driving around for 30 mins. looking for street parking, we left and went to breakfast and then drove the 80 miles back home. Needless to say we had a lot to say to the convention office the next day and basically got ignored.

Blondie: my recollection is that FIL owns/owned auto dealership(s) somewhere. Big money. Too long ago now for the info to come back to mind.
BTW Judah may own the condo in Florida but he is not currently listed as a member of the Florida Bar nor is he listed as having registered any corporation or LLC here.
