Doug Mason - I wish I had taken that set of volumes when I had the opportunity. (They were offered to me.) Too late now. :(

the very first sentence of the topic "inspiration" at "insight on the scriptures" volume 1, page 1202 reads:.
"the quality or state of being moved by or produced under the direction of a spirit from a superhuman source.".
is it defining "inspiration" as a "quality or state"?.

It appears to be a definition of Inspiration.
Try putting the words "Inspriration is" at the beginning of the sentence, then pare it down to basic structure - subject, predicate, etc.
ack, it's gobble-dee-gook! I'm sure one of our scholars could translate it, though. It's really quite 19th turn-of-the-century, and formal. IOW, it was easier for them to 'baffle with bull****' back in Rutherford's time.
Let's see...
The quality or state of (noun/subject) being moved by or produced under (verb) the direction of a spirit from a superhuman source. (predicate?)
I read this: Inspiration (in the religious context) happens when holy spirit from Jehovah is directed to give it to you.
I've edited so much of other people's work, it's usually easy, but that is one hell of a twisted up sentence.

hye folks-just wanted some info.
is wearing a wire to a jc or any other meeting an easy-to-do thing.
how do you go about trying to find to an agency that hires out equipment?
Just a heads-up for Canadians who may wish to tape their JC, or any other conversation in which they are one of the parties conversing.
In Canada, it is legal to tape a conversation, as long as you are one of the parties involved in the conversation.
ie, I could tape a conversation between me, Ray Publisher and Fernando, without their knowledge, because I am a participant in that conversation.
I could NOT legally tape a conversation between Ray Publisher and Fernando if I was eavesdropping.
I know this varies from State to State in the USA, and in other countries, so just speaking for Canadian law.

just a quick thought.... we know that the org loves to paint all those who fade or leave as "negative, bitter and unhappy"...because of course "the truth is the happiest way to live".
so, never allow ourselves to be that way when talking with witnesses, or family members still in.. show them that we are happy, our lives are fulfilled and positive.. then they have no ammunition.
also, it helps other doubters to see that there is life in the world beyond the org..
If they say they miss me, I can honestly say I haven't missed the meetings, etc. one bit.
"Oh, you miss me, really? I'm in the book, so give me a call anytime."
That's my reply to *that* BS statement, Magnum.
They ruined the prime of my life. I want them to know that. My life is hard now because of my believing and acting upon their false prophecy. I want them to know that. If they want to call me bitter for that, then so be it. If they do, I sure hope they say it to my face because I'd relish the opportunity to argue the point with them. I'm a very logical arguer, and I would not let them change the subject or use any of their diversionary tactics. I would bury them.
"Why are you so bitter" screamed my incubator. Oh, the point was argued, but facts were denied - vehemently. Of course, liars always go on the defensive when they get nailed. At the height of the argument, my incubator's other half entered the room and said "Okay, enough is enough. Don't disagree with your mother, or you will never be welcome in this house again."
No, I do not intend to put on a happy face for those abusive liars, either. I paid for my freedom in sweat, blood and tears, and I choose to exercise it every day for the rest of my life.

i was outraged at this and had to post it.. http://jehovahswitnessreport.com/blog/jw-refuses-to-provide-wedding-stationery-to-gay-couple.
i think she is a hypocrite and i bet she sells her invites to fornicators, or does she ask them if they are having sex before marrige, before she takes their money?.
i was never like this when i was a jw, it's even more disturbing that she is going to ask her elders what to do.
KateWild
Have you got any scientific stats for that to make you so confident?
I am a man. I know of what I speak.
Sex also then becomes mechanical and selfish, not a giving activity as it is in a loving relationship.
Spoken like a woman.
And you are accusing DJS of elder-type behaviour? He is one of the many ex-elders we have on board who does NOT engage in that type of behaviour. He does not treat others, especially women, in a condescending "I know better than you little girl" fashion.
YOU are the one who has spoken like an elder.
Kate is a scientist. What are you? Oh, you're a MAN, so you have superior knowledge about science. *nods* Okay, now I get it. Sorry, Elder Homey, it took me a while to comprehend your speech because I am just a stoopid woman.

i'm pretty sure it is, just wanted to confirm.
this would be someone who went once and only looked....
We can disagree on that. And that's okay!
I know it's not gonig away. We have different definitions of 'exploitation', but I don't discuss feminist theory on this board, only in real ilfe. I am happy your friend is safe, and glad she is empowered. Does she tell everyone she is a stripper, with pride? Do those college girls do the same (including their grandpartents, etc.)? Okay, damn, I have to STFU! I am incorrigible when it comes to this stuff.
Okay, take care!

I don't doubt your words, or that this happens. I think in really big cities, perhaps at times. I live in a city of just over 1/2 million people, and it's small town compared to NYC or Miami, etc.
Yes, single moms supporting their child(ren) and making good money - I'm all for that, and sad though, that is the only 'value' they hold in our society. Yes, women working their way through college - I do believe it happens.
I was being *very* opinionated, and that is very strong on a screen. I should have tempered it, and known that it was a bit too vehement.
You're right, and I'm conceding that a small percentage of strippers (and I refuse to use the sanitized term 'exotic dancers') are the above. Thing is, I haven't seen it here, and I do truly think that it is a very small percentage - even those women are being exploited and earning money (enough money) for what they need.
.
Why can't a file clerk support her child as a single mom? Why does she have to give men sexual pleasure to have a decent life? That's all. It hurts my heart. and I have known enough people in the 'life' to say that women rarely enjoy these jobs.
.
Thanks for your kind and tempered reply, and once again, I didn't think you were making things up. My apologies.

BOTR, where art thou? I would love your take on this pic!

I've been to strip clubs, and I think Fink's description is spot-on. Here, most of the strippers are run out of Montreal. They send them down to Eastern Canada in rotations - yes, for the most part it's a filthy business run by the Hell's Angels. The women are usually young, addicts and prostitutes who left home at a very young age.
It's just as sleazy as what you may see on Law & Order. Yes, *some* strippers in some clubs somewhere may be college girls working their way through college, but that is far from the 'norm'.
Let's not kid ourselves about the reality of the sex trade.
And yup, "loose conduct", iow, like I said - it all depends on who you know, and how strict the local BOE wants to be.
tal
edit: ha, can you tell I worked with 'Youth at Risk' for a few years? Yeah, I don't have much use for 'strip clubs'.
so the rc really sucked, but i made it through.
the propaganda was mind blowing.
i don't know if the crap will be available on the official website or not, but hopefully it gets leaked somehow.
I'm so sorry ,,, it sounds like living with an alcoholic - you never know what the day will bring. Forever walking on eggshells.
You'll be in my thoughts, bro.
