Hoser, I hear you - you are not prone to drama, or story-telling ......... some women are just like that. Some PEOPLE are just like that - lots of men live off their women and get a free ride, too.
She sounds like what you said ... someone with a sense of entitlement, and yeah, poor hubby! It's not like he is in the real world, and can divorce her ....
Oh, yeah, and this:
One of the hypocricies of the women's movement. Assuming he isn't stopping her from working - She thinks what she is sitting on makes her entitled.DJS, this is absolute shyte. Sorry, but that's the truth. Your personal cicrumstances most likely colour your opinion, but seriously, that statement is almost embarrassing in its ignorance.

My favorite traditional carol is the Huron Carol, and I my two modern favorites are Snoopy's Christmas by the Royal Guardsmen, and Christmas in Hollis by RunDMC.

A public thank you to Joe Grundy
by Pams girl ini have been going through the most terrible time these past 4 weeks, which has nothing to do with the jw, and everything to do with being abandoned with anxiety, panic and agoraphobia, and a new diagnoses of an illness called pmdd, which robbed me of my career, and it seems, my marriage, as my husband has moved out and left me with our son.
this man, this "stranger", jumped in his car to offer me support, and travelled 2 hours to be with me, despite what was going on with him, just be with me for a few hours and try to help.
what an amazing selfless act.

Your favourite dog breed ...?
by LoveUniHateExams inin an earlier thread, i mentioned that i wasn't a particularly doggy person but that my parents got a husky last year that i've come to regard as a kind of brother.. huskies superficially resemble wolves and for me it's been fun to compare and contrast husky and wolf behaviour.
huskies howl but rarely bark, and seem to have a strong prey drive and a strong pack instinct - a nod to their wild cousins.
this is why i love huskies, i think.. do you have a favourite dog breed and why?.

Just quit quietly - the law is on your side!
by Ajax infreedon of religion guarantees any individual the legal right to abandon any religion at any time for any reason.. if you are a citizen of a country which champions human rights, then your government doesn t care what religion you join, but they will uphold your freedom to join it, without interference, coercion or persecution.
your countries human rights legislation will conversely uphold your rights when it comes time to abandon any religion you so choose.
those (elders) who incite others interfere, coerce or persecute those who have left will be in transgression of the human rights statutes.. a person is only obligated to ecclesiastic law if he exposes himself to it or transgressed it while still a member of a religious community.. when your time comes to abandon the jw-wt cult, do it while still in good standing, be proactive - be decisive -put it in writing!..and do it before the hounders set sights on you.. write a card or letter with as much or as little explanation as you one day might wish to share with pharisees and lawyers.. take this card to a notary public to have your signature witnessed and have the writing overstamped in several places with the date.

If you do this and they decide to DF you anyway and announce it, I highly doubt you would be successful in a lawsuit, and I am unaware of anyone who has been. Some bodies of elders, anecdotally, have decided not to make an announcement out of fear of personal liability and legal costs, but the chances of an actual successful lawsuit are slim to none.
Actually, they did that to one of our members, Kwintestal. He hired a lawyer, had a letter drafted saying that they needed to show what grounds he was DF'd for (there were none), or REVERSE their decision.
[ EDIT: Now, I would have to ask, but I don't believe he wrote a disassociation letter ....... you may find it here, if you look at his threads. ]
The DF was reversed. And he is someone I know in person, and well - I watched it unfold. But this is Canada, and there was no lawsuit. ;)
I know, that was amazing! But ,,, all BOE's may not respond that way.

Want to hear something funny ?
by troubled mind inmy husband just won the city wide holiday light display for christmas i am so proud .
just a few short years ago i was the one that put a strand of white lights around the porch railing ,and a couple of lighted deer in the yard ....that brought the elders around real quick (after three years of silence ) at that time my husband was still holding onto the notion his faith was not bond to a cult .
it didn't take long after the 'loving sheparding call' for him to see things in another light.

we still dont celibrate anything....no kids
Hang on, that is too sad. It's time for you to BE kids, I don't care how old you are. So, make some of your own traditions; it's a lot of fun, and you deserve it.
My first Xmas tree --- late 30s, had a ficus (weeping fig). So I cut out moons and stars from yellow, and hearts from red construction paper that I bought at the dollar store. I hung them with thead. Made a paper chain out of the same construction paper, and papered the pot that held the ficus with Xmas wrapping paper.
It was a beautiful tree, and why? I did it just for the FUN of it - had no gifts, but a lot of hope .......... enjoy the holidays, start now.
