one thing i find absolutely amusing about this place: so many people quote scriptures, but they can't remember where the damn things are located in the bible (and don't care to look them up).
after years and years of flipping through those bibles at the meetings, you'd think we'd have the whole thing memorized!
funny how a couple of years can delete a whole bunch of scriptures from our brains.. this thread is meant to give a home to all those forgotten locations of your "favorite" scriptures.. mine is: "remember the wife of lot"
I read the Bible and studied it verse by verse.
And the literature - so much so that when I could quote a scripture or paragraph no one remembered I was sometimes pilloried as a budding apostate. But I never could remember the verse or page number, resulting in much scrabbling around a book. Usually ended in them having red faces though!

When you knew someone giving their spiel, how often was it that you knew they were either lying or exaggerating?
my jw husband came home from his meeting yesterday a little later than usual, and when i asked him where he had been, he said he had to meet with the elders after the meeting.
well, it seems that even though he is reinstated, he has to ask for each of his"privileges" back one at a time.

i was in a book store today and there were a couple of books entitled somthing like "the bible code" .
the idea goes that the bible is written a certain code that when decoded reveals prophcies about things like the twin towers and that kind of thing.

i've just read in todays paper an article on driving in different countries.
apart from the obvious statement that europe drives on the right, uk on the left and italy in the shade, i was intrigued that the flashing of headlights had different meanings too.. if you're driving in the uk and you flash your headlights at another driver you are actually saying "go ahead and make your move, i am giving way to you".
it's a sort of gentlemanly gesture.
My Mom was flashed in the park once.

Any type of recording/ radio work has become less fun. I remember the days of dying (or groaning) to hear the last take if this was the one to use? Now it's just push the eliminate button on mistooks and it goes out... But in your heart you know people are not listening to your best work.
The upside is we don't have to always work until 5 in the morning any more.
if you saw a serious car accident, and people were trapped in the car, or unconscious in the wreck, would you try to get them out even if the car was on fire and could explode at any moment?.
coming back from quebec city today, i saw a car or truck in the ditch upside down and with lots of smoke coming out of the wreckage.
4 or 5 cars were stopped near by to look at the accident.
