The level of the Borg's hypocrisy is just overwhelming. Will they also sue all jdubs who share/post their 'copyrighted' crap on FB, etc?

Breaking news: Update Darkspilver May 6th hearing
by ZindagiNaMilegiDobaara inon may 6th, 2019 watch tower attorney paul polidoro faced off against anonymous reddit user darkspilver, represented by eff, the electronic frontier foundation.. link to youtube video with audio from may 6th hearing:.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wzopjmzfco&feature=youtu.be.
polidoro, noted for his appearance in the supreme court case of watchtower versus stratton ohio, now represents watch tower of pennsylvania in their efforts to flush out the inside leak sources of documents, videos and images.. these documents and other sensitive information have been leaked to the public and reposted by dozens of individuals since 2017. watch tower is deeply concerned about the internal moles leaking this information, since much of it has been used by whistleblowers to reveal watch tower's private internal policies and procedures.. included in the leaks are publisher id and records management materials which reveal the extent of jehovah's witness data collection and management prodedures, including the destruction of documents.. jehovah's witnesses have come under intense scrutiny for their failure to report child abuse across the globe, not only in mandatory reporting states, but in every location where clergy members are not required to report.. the dangerous policies of the jehovah's witness organization have resulted in a significant movement among current and former members to expose the organization and force transparency.. current members with high-level access to watch tower documents have risked expulsion and legal recourse for their efforts.. the electronic frontier foundation's attorney alex moss represented the unidentified darkspilver redditor in defense of the motion to quash watch tower's subpoena to unmask his identity.. listen closely as both sides make their case, and the judge seeks to understand the issues involved.. freedom of speech versus alleged copyright infringement- you be the judge.

So, they actually decided to get rid of mentioning 'Holy Spirit', thus giving a hint that the borg is no longer viewed as guided by the spirit? Am I getting it right?
As Geoffrey Jackson in the ARC put it - 'It would seem to be quite presumptuous...'
Where else the Borg's chariot will lead it to?

Advice on Disassociating
by HiddenPimo inhello my exjw/pimo/pomo friends,.
i am working on penning my da letter and wondered if i should use it as a tool to maybe wake up individuals as the boe will have to read it.. anyone have any advice on what i should say versus what i should leave out?
i am not going to fade as my family can either be loyal to blood or loyal to a man made religion.

I'm a still a PIMO. Working on waking up my family - as they're dear to me.
Had I not have the family trapped in - I'd quit the same day I learned the 'Truth' is BS.
From my experience - it's super hard to change another person's point of view even on a minor issue. We, humans, tend to be stubborn, you know.
If you don't care much about getting your family out - go ahead with your plan.
I guess, social media could have even more impact than the paper letters. But in any case, the elders should be the last people on Earth to learn about your decision (they'll still learn it super quick, anyway).
Using a platform to voice your concerns and reasons to leave is also an option (but here, you'll have just few seconds before they turn off the mikes).
I'd vote for making some video with your explanations - and posting it on Youtube/Facebook, etc.. From my experience, even the hardcore Jdubs could watch it (they do it just to reinforce their belief they're better than you - but who knows...).

How Should Houses of Worship Protect Themselves Against Shooters?
by minimus inis there a way?
these madmen go into soft areas knowing they only will have firepower to inflict their damage.
i think people better start thinking ahead about what they can do to protect themselves..

I guess, executing the mass-shooters publicly (together with their family - if the first doesn't help much) would be a good start. Our medieval ancestors can tell quite a lot of interesting ways to perform that.
Another way is to have educated religion-free population everywhere and a society without injustice, but nah - that's a hard way...
How in the world can we allow guys like Breivik, for instance, return to the society after 20 years as if nothing has happened?

Why the BIG 4.5 day elder "school"?
by eyeuse2badub injust wonderin' if anyone has heard of anything about something big going down in the borg?
good friend of mine just told me today that he will be attending a 4.5 day elder "training school" all nest week!
the "special" elder "schools" are usually only 2-3 days.. lots of dumbing down coming?.

I've not been to elders schools - only to the old MS schools. Another important part of those 'Kingdumb schools' used to be guilt-tripping.

One of the points of conventions: obedience training
by john.prestor ini think a lot these days about people who train you to be obedient without telling you that's what they're doing.
the thought occurred to me that that could be part of the idea of regional conventions.
it's not like they present much of anything new to the audience, it's the same old talks year after year, the same old information, yeah, repackaged a little, different themes, different illustrations, but the same information, obey the faithful slave, armageddon is imminent, go door-to-door, the usual.

Firstly, the conventions R known to be money-makers for the Borg. Other than that, I can relate to my own old-days experience where the convention really gave some kind of 'encouragement', kind of 'charging a battery' until the next one. Not sure what was the psychology behind that - maybe it was due to higher quality talks than that of local brodas.
For the last years, it's mostly a WTF session - an expectation of a new low hit by the Borg.

Do You See JWs Going From House to House Anymore?
by minimus ini used to see them in my neighborhood or while driving.
there is a hispanic congregation nearby.
i used to see witnesses out all the time, some even doing the slow pioneer shuffle.

Actually, nothing has changed in terms of D2D officially - but the ever-increasing apathy and hypocrisy contributes to D2D becoming phantom.

Terrorist Attacks in Sri Lanka
by cofty inthree christian churches and three luxury hotels have been attacked in sri lanka this morning resulting in more than 130 deaths.. buddhism is the state religion in sri lanka accounting for 70% of the population, hindus make up 12% with islam and christianity comprising 9% and 7% respectively.
no group has yet claimed responsibility.
a civil war between government forces and separatist tamil tigers ended in 2009. the war lasted 26 years and cost at least 70,000 lives.

There is a strange attitude by western governments. When muslims are attacked it is "PROTECT THE MUSLIMS' When muslims attack others it is "PROTECT THE MUSLIMS " Strange
I guess the reason is super simple (and is the same reason why the borg quietly supported Russian terrorists in Eastern Ukraine) - it's just fear of the crazy guys with guns.

If shunning were no longer a JW policy, how many would leave the Org?
by HiddenPimo inadditionally - if this shunning rule was removed and everyone was made aware of the dirty secrets of the org.. (e.g.
csa-arc / un membership / malawi - mexico contrast / etc.).
would those leaving be higher?.

For those that stay it would most likely divide the congregations into two groups. The so called super strong ones and the so called weak ones. Then it would turn into another kind of Cult. One that not only hates those in the world but also hates one another in the congregation.
In my experience, it's pretty much already like this.I've never been under any kind of restrictions (apart from leaving the MS/pioneer 'privileges'), but I'm 90% ignored (unless someone needs smth. from me) by my congo which I still regularly attend for family reasons.
