Wow, how wonderful that you had someone like her in your life. I am sorry you lost someone so special to you. I love the part about how she brought your kids presents and taught them songs, just so they could grow up normal, that's just neat. And sending the elders door to door visitors, sounds like she was quite the spunky one.

I'm new to the forum and desperate for support
by muse ini will be very brief on my introduction as i need to get straight to the point.
i was raised in the 'truth' from birth.
i got baptized at 16 (elder dad hassled me) and managed to do the 'slow fade' at 18 (it helped that i moved 50 miles away from home).

Welcome Muse. I am so sorry you are going through this difficult situation right now. My story is similar to yours. My mother also had cancer, and had bloodless surgery. We were very worried, but everything turned out ok. I know how frustrating it can be, and boy can I relate to how you feel about now wanting any JW's around, that was me!
Try to put all that aside right now, focus on your relationship with your father (and mother) only right now, and dont let the dubs bother you. My mother was real, real sure about her decision, and there was absolutely nothing I could do about it. So, I made up my mind to accept it, and get beyond it.
Btw, my brother also had several bloodless surgeries for a serious car accident he was in, he was in a trauma center and had to have his leg amputated. It took 2 or 3 operations before they were done. All bloodless. Just to give you an example of how bloodless surgeries can be successful, that might hopefully help take the worry off you a little.

Not sure if jesus is still around. Some people have claimed to have seen him. If he is still hanging around this dimension
I believe he starred in Star Wars Episode I, the Phantom Menace. He played the character Qigon (ok the one with the long hair, who discovers Anikan when he's just a boy, obiwon's master... know who I mean. der...)

After 30 years my mother now has doubts!!
by diamondblue1974 ini have just finished an incredibly long conversation with my mother which was tense in parts and hard going but i feel as though i have made a break-through; i was incredibly delicate in my approach given her 30 years inside the borg but again i think i have made some headway.. we covered the un scandal and i asked whether she had heard anything about the wts affiliation with the un as an ngo; she surprisingly had heard nothing about it; i read the guardian articles to her and she was silent....i half expected to hear her hang up the phone but she continued to stay on.
she tried to justify it initially but slowly i allowed her to reach her own conclusions and she has agreed to let me send the information upto her; i.e the guardian newspaper articles and the ngo press release.. we covered the child abuse policies and lack off protection for children and covered the highly legalistic approach taken in the very little policy they have...which is mainly about self preservation.
i asked her whether she knew that the society in the us are being sued by a number of different people for the organisations failure to protect children from abuse and i asked if i could get the proof without using 'apostate' sources, i.e primary sources such as court judgements etc, would she accept the information?

Eagerness To Shun Bound To Fade
by Englishman inmy own parents gave up shunning me after i was disfellowshipped.
they kept it up for about 3 years and then just sort of gradually folded.
here in wsm, most of the witnesses who remember me can't be arsed with the shunning thang any more.

I've kind of noticed in comes and goes in waves. Like you said, it is so unnatural a thing, that after a while, they get lax. But then, some friggin assembly part, or reminder in the service meeting or whatever, then they get all strict about it again.

JW's are LOSING IT
by GetBusyLiving inat one of the last bookstudies i ever attended i heard a comment that really struck home to me how desperate these people really are getting, to the edge of insanity.
an older woman commented, "you can tell the end is coming.. its in the air.. you can feel it.. there is something in the air.. times are just.. different" and the whole time she was manically glancing around the room.
the conductor agreed with her.
