ooh and we had one sister we were so scared of. Her name was Debbie, (oh, ok I wont say the last name, grrr) she always sat up front, and used to turn her head around and give the most intense evil "devil glare" to any kid who made any kind of noise whatsoever. Now I can only imagine how this must have stressed the parents out.

What gets me is how there is nothing at all for the poor witness kids. Like Sunday School, day care, whatever. My kids aged 3 and 7, have such a hard time sitting still for a whole hour, and yea, its easier for the 7 year old. The church I now hit and miss at, has a day care where they are read stories, get to play on the playground, watch bible cartoons, and even eat snacks. How great for the kids. Takes so much stress off me, because I get to listen to the sermon, and relax and enjoy, while they are at the day care/Sunday school.
Now I look back on growing up as a witness kid, and realize how cruel it was. I would never put my poor kids through all that. My dad had us in check, just like little Matthew, we didnt make a peep, trust me. And as we got older, we had better answer or else.
hmmm. really taught met to LOVE Jehovah, and the meetings.

long time sister told me yesterday that end would be here within 7 years!!
by PaNiCAtTaCk ini went to the meeting yesterday because the out of town speaker and his wife are good friends of my wife and i. after the meeting we got invited to someones house who was feeding the speaker because they know that we are friends and because ive missed lots of meetings in the last two months and my wife and i need a good love bombing!
well during our lunch i was complaining about my having braces at 30 and how stupid i looked with them and the 83 year old sisters house we were at told me that i wasted my money on them because the end would be here with 7 years anyway.
i asked her "do you really think so?

What's the deal with fairies?
by gringojj inone of the most annoying things about dubs is they have all these stupid rules and no one person seems to know them all.
my wifes mother said it was wrong to have a tooth fairy for our daughter because fairies are magical and whatever.
so then the other day we were at the store and there was a dress for play dress up and it had fairy wings in the back.

Yup, over here in this neck of the woods, not only could you not do the tooth fairy, but you couldnt' wear the fairy dress with wings either.

50th anniversary of my mother's cult induction
by Jankyn inthis week marks the 50th anniversary of my mother's baptism as one of jehovah's witnesses.
she and a childhood friend, who was baptized at the same assembly, will be having a "get-together" this weekend to celebrate.
(hmmm...wonder if that doesn't tread too close to "glorifying the individual"?

Angel Wings - What's the problem?
by Nellie inonce you start questioning the beliefs of the organization, all kinds of things cross your mind.
for instance, the bible clearly describes angels as having wings - and the wbts illustrates them with wings in their publications - so what's up with the whole "not displaying images of angels" in witness homes, etc.
through the years i bought the position that angels are not children, so the images of babies with wings and halos are inconsistent with bible truth - but what's wrong with images of adult angels with wings and why are witnesses encouraged not to display them?.

I remember two arguments: It is a form of idolatry, and we are not to worship angels but Jehovah. Once I went over to my moms house, about 4 or 5 years ago, wearing the most beautiful angel necklace, and she about had a heart attack. And proceeded on to give me the above explanation. sheesh!
