the highways in town, right about 60, but no more. But the open highways, between cities, about 80.

At what speed are you comfortable driving on the highway?
by JH inhere in canada, it's maximum 100 km/h or 62 mph.
thats not fast enough for us quebecers.
we like driving atlest at 120km/h or 75 mph when the conditions are perfect.

Did you ever celebrate Christmas, and do you miss it?
by sonnyboy ini see so many people on this board who are angry over what the witnesses took from them.
i often feel the same way, so i try to do something anti-jw every year, which seems to help.
do you know what i'm going to do this year?

I know! I love celebrating Christmas! I feels so great to do something so wonderful, and yea, there's that whole we never got to do it growing up thing, that makes it even more enjoyable. What really adds to it, is my small children. There is just nothing like celebrating X-mas (and other holidays for that matter) with your children.
We used to do the anniversary gift exchange thing too, but guess someone turned us in, we were bothering sensitive conscienses out there, so that was the end of that. But still, that no where near made up for not being able to do the real x-mas, at the real time of year.
I remember I came to a point at school where I just lied, made up that I got something for X-mas, rather than have to
witnesshumiliate myself by having to explain the whole stupid she-bang as to why we did not celebrate. -

Do you think perfection is boring?
by ballistic infrom the perspective of this imperfect world, seeing something perfect would seem quite amazing.
such as the omega particle or whatever it was called in star trek.. but what if you lived in a world (or heaven for that matter) where everything was so perfect that it was extremely predictable, and there was never any point in trying to improve anything or fight for a cause and everyone always had the perfect answer for you?.
maybe that's why "god" created the universe and maybe the universe is a perfect way of experiencing randomness?

Perhaps you need someone who is imperfect to strike the perfect balance
Would take on hell of an extremely imperfect person to qualify...

We touch each other...
by MerryMagdalene in.
...in so many ways, some known to us, others remaining unknown and unrecognised, sometimes for years, sometimes forever.. so, my question is: would you rather know of the ways in which your presence effects others or would you prefer such things not be drawn to your attention?
recognition or anonymity?.

Presiding Overseer Says They Will Ask If You Still Want To Be A Jehovah's W
by minimus inthe local needs talk on thursday discussed a few different things, according to my mom.
but the one that stood out most was that he announced that based on the new book, the elders will be checking on those that have not been associating with the congregation for some time.
they will ask, "do you still want to be a jehovah's witness?

Just wondering, how do they plan on finding all of us faders anyway? And wouldn't it be a pretty large undertaking? What a project.

Witnesses sit next to me at the theater last night
by seattleniceguy inhad a bizzare experience last night.
i went to see the movie mr. and mrs. smith (which, by the way, was pretty decent).
my girlfriend and i showed up about 20 minutes before the show started, so we picked out some seats and then each went to the restroom in turn while the other watched the seats.

Well what kind of witnesses could they possibly be, I mean isn't Mr. & Mrs. smith RATED R??? But yea, I know what you mean about trying at least to break the ice so you dont feel akward. Hey, it's their loss, not yours.

House irritations
by greendawn inwhat were some of the most irritating situations you had to deal with in the house?
-
Netty
When I saw the title of the thread, especially since its under medical, I thought maybe it had to do with something like toxic mold or something like that. But now that I clicked in, I think it means something different. So what is the house?

coz Mikes her favourite and ive taken that away from her,
This is exactly what I figured out about my MIL. She literally used to call my hubby up, when he was just a boyfriend, (and we were living in SIN! there I said it SIN!) Anyway, I am serious here, at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, because
A-She needed the newspaper
B-She needed Coffee,
C- She needed eggs.
I kid you not! One time we went to an elderly ladies house who was about to go into a nursing home, and she had 2 brand new lazy boy recliners, I fell in love with them, I wanted them so bad. Hubby decided to surprise me, had them on the truck and everything, stopped by her house to drop them off, and guess what, they never made it home to me. He never even told me, later on she let it slip and said "I had to cry for 45 minutes straight to convince him to give me the recliners instead of take them home to you" I could go on for hours about stuff she has pulled on me.
Having said all that, I can tell you honestly, it does get better, with time. Just give it some time. Stand your ground and make your place with your fiance, after a while she will get tired. He may not stand up and scream from the mountain tops in your defense the way you want him to (mine never did and never will) but he now takes his stand for me in his own way (he has learned to ignore her).

why blood from the father would not be permitted
Thats what I wondered. Even though she wasn't a jw, this is kind of hopefully goes to show what they may do in the case of a jw who would not accept blood when the medically need it. At least I hope anyway.
