What I have learned throughout the years is that for some reason they flip-flop. They just do, I've seen so much of it. I think maybe they get lax, and then who knows some stupid article in the watchtower will come out and remind them of what their conscience does and does not allow them to do. I get what you're saying, of course you dont want them to hurt your cousin. But it does make it hard when they change their mind back and forth like that, so irritating.

To shun or not to shun...
by kj inhas there been any "new light" recently about how to treat disfellowshipped family members?

i noticed that she had been spending quite a lot of time at my aunt's (her mother, an active jw) home.

I agree with Sith, (Sith you're from Arizona??) if you can pull it off, go for it! BUT, having said that, what about the whole "g" string showing, and a good 5 inches of A$$ below that? That style has got to GO! I've been waiting for it to fade out, EWWW!! First time I saw it was about 7 years ago, and I thought for sure this poor girl had done this by accident, then I noticed the trend. And all I have to say is somebody please "make it stop".

Other Preachers at my door!
by Odrade inthis little incident cracked me up, thought i'd share... .
we live in a decent neighborhood in suburbia, nearly all of the houses are owned, people mow their own lawns, (well everyone except us!
) two or three cars per family, dogs, kids, etc.

This is too funny! The witnesses always like to BRAG about how they are the only ones doing the door to door preaching work. They sure hate hearing that anyone else could possibly be doing it too.

Visiting graves . . . did you do it?
by garybuss intoday we had a nice road trip and visited two cemeteries where grandparents and aunts and uncles are buried.
we usually make the yearly trek on memorial weekend but this year we helped my son move and were out of town.
it's an upbeat day.

We were never allowed to as witnesses. Guess either my parents thought there was some scriptural reason, or just there own over-zealousness, now I cant remember which. But once I got together with my hubby, I would go with him to visit his fathers/uncles/grandmothers grave. And I was so impressed with him when I saw how he handled himself. Making sure the gravesites were neat and clean, having a moment of silence to himself, placing flowers or flags on the graves, and then he would kiss his hand and put his hand on the grave. This was just so touching to me. I knew my grandmother was buried at the same cemetery, and even near his grandma, so this made me want to go look for her grave. I did find it, and now everytime we go together to the cemetery, I try to visit my grandma's grave too.

Hubert, I hope your family is all ok. When you hear from them, give us an update ok?
The windows shook pretty good and a few drawers popped open. Other than that not much. I live about forty miles from Palm Springs
But still, r51785, must have been pretty scary? Was Palm Springs the epicenter?

the first couple of years I'd hide the wrapping paper and bows under everything else in my cart, now I don't even think about it....
I used to hide everything too. Reminds me of this past X-mas, I was making little goodie bags for my sons classroom. The stuff was all spread out all over the table, candies, candie canes, little santa clauses, boes, ribbons, and my mom stopped by. I just kept right on doing what I was doing..
