Have any of you noticed the April 2003 WT which had a question from the reader which asked why A recent Awake mag dealt with joining in a Lu'au celebration and what fun it could be.
He asked why this was considered ok considering the pagan origins of a Lu'au.
The reply was the word Lu'au is no longer associated with these pagan traditions and it was ok. They did mention it was up to an individuals conscience.
What about birthdays and other celebrations is the first thing that came to my mind. We do not celebrate them because of the pagan origins and more people would associate pagan origins to a Lu'ua than a Birthday party.
I wonder if C.T Russel and J.F Rutherford celebrated their birthdays by having a big old Lu'ua.

It truly helps me to see so many have endured and made it through the trial by fire test.
A devout witness would say Jah helped you and does not let us endure more than we can endure. If that were true it would mean when it gets to tough for us he lets us kill ourselves to stop the pain. What a kanundrum.
Two years aago an elder who can actually be very kind and caring remarked jokingly how he's been to Brooklyn twice and each time there were large demonstartions going on in the pouring rain.( His remark I quess was these apostates were getting soaked by Jah)
At the time I thought no-one wakes up in the morning and says I'll think its a good day to protest the JW's and devote my precious time and energy in trying to expose them for what they are.(Especially in the rain..we only make RV's in the rain).Most of the time people have good reasons for taking a hard line.
My Nephew pointed me here and its the support I needed as at times I felt like getting a labotomy but with your help I think I'm in for the long Haul.

I try my best not to provoke her as this whole situation is just about giving us both nervous breakdowns. I keep trying to see the situation through her eyes which I may have done a few years ago. Although I hope I would have been loving enough to listen to the concerns of someone that I have spent over a decade with.
Now it sometimes feels probably for both of us that were like Julia Roberts(Sleeping with the enemy)

She has agreed to a BS apart from the WT. Any ideas on where to start with her?
She wants me to have a BS with an elder but I'm not sure I can teach him anything with his eyes closed.
Besides the elders have already told me to stop bothering them and do more research myself.

Who 'REALLY' abstains from blood in the WTS?
by BLISSISIGNORANCE ini was not raised a dub and was 'in' for only 12 years so there are 'many' things i don't know about the borg, that's why i ask alot of questions.
this is just another question that came into my mind some time ago and would appreciate any thoughts or opinions.. in the whole time i associated with jws, i never heard of any member of the gb/anointed/ anything above the r&f..........your 'average' publisher..........dying from refusing blood.. every experience i ever read about in the wts magazines was either about young adult jws/dear old faithful bro.
or sister so-and-so/ children and their obedient parents, making a decision to refuse blood and choose death.................because real life in the paradise earth was worth more than extending life in this system.

• One of Jehovah’s witnesses who claims to be of the anointed remnant recently went to the hospital and took a blood transfusion, voluntarily. Should she be allowed to partake of the emblems of bread and wine at Memorial time?—R. J., United States.
We, of course, regret with you that this sister who professes to be one of the anointed remnant took a blood transfusion voluntarily during her stay in the hospital. We believe that she did the wrong thing contrary to the will of God. However, congregations have never been instructed to disfellowship those who voluntarily take blood transfusions or approve them. We let the judgment of such violators of God’s law concerning the sacredness of blood remain with Jehovah, the Supreme Judge. The only thing that can be done in the cases of individuals like this is to view them as immature and therefore not capable of taking on certain responsibilities, hence refusing to make certain assignments of service to such ones.
Since an individual is not disfellowshiped because of having voluntarily taken a blood transfusion or having approved of a dear one’s accepting a blood transfusion, you have no right to bar this sister from the celebration of the Lord’s Evening Meal. As an anointed member of Christ’s body she is under orders and command by Christ Jesus to partake. Whether she is unfaithful as to what she professes to be by virtue of taking the emblems of the Lord’s Evening Meal is something for Jehovah God to determine himself. His judgment begins at the house of God. It is not for you or anyone serving the Memorial emblems to act as the judge, but to allow the emblems to go to anyone in the audience as these are passed along in the normal manner of letting each one have the opportunity to partake.
They did change this policy in 1961 and started DFing ones who had voluntarily received blood. But on a lighter note its still ok to be immature and not capable of taking on responsibilities and be selected to be ruling in Heaven as one of the 144000.

New light question
by yxl1 ini was discussing with my motherinlaw last weekend the change in the 1995 "generation" doctrine,and got the usual response that it was a new light.
what started out as a little bit of fun during a long car journey actually turning into something quite sad and disturbing.
i argued that old light was obviously wrong (by their own definition), and therefore, by her reasoning she has been preaching lies.

Its kind of ironic..she was always what JW's would cosider weak but when I broke down and confided my total lack of confidence that the GB were God directed she became a canidate for JW of the year with study, commenting, service and prayer. The continual remarks of why are you trying to start your own religion and why have you allowed Satan to enter doubts into your mind drive me nuts..I bite my tongue.
She does see the many problems in the org and cong but as she has been taught belieeves Jehovah will handle this in his due time.
Have any of you watched God Makers relating to mormons.

Is ther anything that seems to work better in reasoning with women inparticular. We have a young daughter who she uses to keep me in line by playing the I'll take her and leave chip.
She is sincere as sometimes she cries when talking about how dead my eyes are when I'm at the meetings or how I have become a dark negative person always able to find fault with Jehovahs organization.
I try not to upset her but I can't endure forever.

Solomon was speaking to his son in Prov 4:18 in context of gaining knowledge and experience as he matures into a man. To use that scripture to cover all blunders means disregarding pretty much the rest of the bible.
C.T Russel as screwed as he was as I'm sure your aware said in the Feb 1881 pg 3 ZWT (New light does not extinguish old light and new truth would never contradict old truth). I guess thats why they hide the old truths.
I wish someone had turned my light on before I got baptized.
