i am dating a man who is a jw and i am not.
i attend a nondenominational church.
i found out from a mutual friend of ours, two months after my boyfriend and i had met, that he was a jw.

i finally gave all my meeting clothes the heave-ho!!
i've been on a closet cleaning binge and finally decided it was time to donate all of these old things to a local women's shelter.
i figured some of these ladies may have nothing decent to wear if they need to go job hunting, so my old meeting clothes, shoes, and handbags would at least serve a noble purpose in their recycled lifetimes.. for some reason, i hung on to them for the last several years, knowing full-well that i would never set foot in a kingdom hall ever again.

the sad news he has cancer.it is lymphoma!!!
they are waiting on the results of the biopsy before determining treatment..... he didnt want me to say anything at first- as he feels you all have your own problems & he didnt want to upset anyone-because he says "they are dear friends".
So happy you had a great week Ian and have found treatment which is good for the the body and the soul...nice of my buddy to drop in with those encouraging comments...now I know why he calls me an Uke just before he slaps my arse.
I hope each day gets better my friend, so many good things have happened since this ugly disease surfaced, your sister, your daughter, your diet(LOL) and your perspective on everything...not to mention how popular you are on the forum as well.

well i've spent a couple hours today getting my cameras ready.
which means cleaning them like a dentist with solutions, swabs, picks, fiberglass brushes, prayer *lol*, etc..they are going to be entered into the collectors competition at the state fair of texas in october.
i have three cameras, the max entry, all going back before the 1930's.

I'm with CountryGuy your comment is very accurate and true
They are vindictive and more satan-like than any worldly folks I have ever dealt with.
It's the hours of hate training they and we as JW's were submitted to, once the meetings stop the hatred starts to wain and a rainbow of human compassion is possible.
Not they don't have compassion but it's hard to love people and condemn them at the same time, hoping that your loved ones take the truth or die because it's they're only hope for everlasting life.

Corvin...fantastic...the best part of the whole exchange is that everything you said was truthful..you didn't need to lie or use doctrinal crap to make them look silly...just the plain old truth...it's what gets them everytime.
Not that you would resort to lies it's just they always accuse apostates of spreading lies so when your able to make such a public statement and have many that were present probably secretly acknowledge what you said was true it has more of an impact than you realize.
It's nice to hear that you've helped show your daughter the beauty of logical reasoning instead of emotional debates....great job all around.
Do you think this will affect your daughters decisions in doing things with the congregation again or is it mainly about her mother?
the following i wrote to a friend this morning and doctored slightly for this forum.
can any of you relate to this kind of mystical experience and if you would be kind enough, would you mind me quoting any experiences listed to my friend?
please be aware that the letter uses language to detach me away from the watchtower (thus church, instead of congregation etc).

I thought of what you describe...it seems so hit and miss....maybe it's because were conditioned not to listen to our inner voice.
Especially as JW's we were conditioned that the inner voice was invariably going to lead us astray, we were to stifle our inner voice and listen to the voice of the GB on all matters.
