  JW 'urban legends'

  i was thinking about some of the old jw urban legends that we grew up with and believed in as jws.

  most of the ones i remember revolved around stories about demons, and jws being "attacked" when they would do something wrong.

  some of these legends scared the crap outta me when i was little.

  One angel killed 185000 Assyrians yet a sister can struggle with him so that she is not raped...do spirit creatures even have a wee-wee?

  In the Vancouver area they have an Assembly hall, a 1200 seater located in Surrey. There was a huge tree on the donated land which the city would not allow them to cut down in order to build there. One night the tree was literaly split down the middle by a lightning bolt allowing the contruction to move ahead...thank-you Jehover......and thank God there were no tree huggers near it.

  Adam and Eve---Mere Myth ?

  even when we dismiss the bible,belief in an original paradise that was lost because of sin was wide-spread among the ancient babylonians,assyrians, egyptians,and others.common to many accounts was a tree of life the fruit of which would confer eternal life on those partaking of it.so mankind remembera that something tragic happened in eden.. scientists acknowledge that the human race is a single family with a common origin.. so,bible or not,could there be any truth,proof,about this event,is it possible to have eternal life on earth or, are the stories among the ancients only myths?.

  The more you think the harder it is to accept......Adam condemed mankind to 6000 years so far of sin and death for eating a Granny Smith apple and Cain who killed his brother with a club was *snif...snif * forced to leave home for his wrong doing.

  God even warned Cain to turn back while Adam was not forewarned of danger, Adam listened to his wife who God had decreed was his flesh and no man should come between. Eve was mislead by a snake (a.k.a satan) who wanted the worship of the two humans in the (Universe) which god rightly deserved. Eve's punishement was to endure labour pains and crave her husband. Why did he punish all the animals and make them suffer labour pains in the process...do you think an elephant forgets Adam caused that pain.

  How could you get something the size of a football through a 10cm opening without any pain anyhow?

  The myriads of powerful angels were not his first concern instead Satan wanted those two naked humans to worship him and he would then use more naked women to lure many of the powerful Angels away from heaven.

  Foiled conversion attempt!

  someone will be very disappointed tomorrow morning!

  i am home on maternity leave right now, and this has given me the opportunity to meet people in our neighborhood that i might never have come in contact with otherwise.

  a few weeks ago, i started chatting with a mother who was out for a walk with her toddler.

  My two week consulting trip to Bethel (the beginning of the end) Part 4

  the next day was going to be tough.

  i had to do kind of a portfolio check session with the illustrators and work on some photo retouching for an up coming italian awake magazine and work with someone from the graphics department on the miniaturization issue.

  as i walked around a little bit i noticed a large hell scanner sitting in a room with a plastic tarp over it.

  Dave...I've been talking to Steven..........Steven Spielberg and he's ready to take on the movie... Bruce Willis has agreed to play you and they're going to use Dustin Hoffman utilizing his rainman character to play Freddy Brown Shoes.

  Clint Eastwood declined playing Leo Greenlees..I think it was because of the line when he invited his new roomate to share a drink and said ''Do ya feel lucky tonight... Punk....well do ya''

  Great story Dave....The library bit is not shocking I guess....There are a few congregations that I've attended which had some of that crazy shit in it their library so the place where it originated must have alot more. I wonder if you checked the basement if you would find real human skeletons.

  Now That We've Stopped Meetings, What Should We Expect???

  my daughter stopped all meetings in the spring.my wife and i went to only a few meetings in the early summer and haven't been to a meeting in over 6 weeks.

  my elder friend stops by my work every so often and recently has asked, "am i going to see you at the meeting tonight, min?

  " i have said now on 3 occasions, "not tonight......" the other day another elder friend called me out of the blue and asked me how things are going.he said,.he'd like to come by my work and talk a little.

  Thats up to you I quess..I do know expressing doubts is supposedly ok...but it does also give away more info then they need to know most times.

  Actually from looking at your posts you should be giving the advice on this......it does help to pick the forum brain for ideas too.

  1 Hour to my sons Judicial Committee

  well this is about as real as it gets.

  in about an hour my son will be appearing before a judicial committee for the second time in as many weeks.

  unfortunately i just happen to be about 3000 miles away right now (business trip) so i cant be there for support and i cant get the ancillary information that i would normally get just by being present.

  jehovah's witnesses must "believe" whatever the watchtower bible & tract society publishes.

  now that you aren't forced to accept beliefs that you might not have wholeheartedly endorsed, there must be many different things that you don't accept.....what comes to mind?

  For me Min...... my beliefs keep falling like dominoes.

  The counselor told me something that my wife, family, friends and the elders certainly didn't.

  He told me to start believing in myself and my capability to make decisions.

  in the world today (especially in america) we believe that we can do what ever we want or will to do, but god still rules the universe, and according to his word there are some things that we can not do.

  unless god wills!

  I don't share your sentiments and although my beliefs are pretty mixed up right now When I read the Bible I see it the other way..If you have faith the size of a mustard grain you can move a mountain...and if the bible don't do it for ya what about the little engine..I think I can...My daughter loves that one.

  When I think of things I can not do, its more in the lines of making family and friends see the WTBTS as a self appointed fraud.
