I use to attend Kingdom Hall meetings myself but never actualyl got Baptized JW nor did I ever do the Field Service thign but I had believed the Watchtower Teachings for a time back when I was attending Kingdom Hall Meetings with an Aunt and Cousin.
I do remember being told stuff about how the Government was Associated with satan but about obeying laws of the land provided such laws didn't violate Jehovah's Laws including of course paying Taxes to the Government.
However the Watchtower Society had Opposite rulings go in effect pertainign to well in the African Country of Malawi all Citizens were required to purchase 25 cent Political Party Identification Cards, The Watchtower Society told it's followers in Malawi to refuse to comply with that law.
Lots of Jehovah's Witnesses were Murdered and Raped for refusing to comply with thw law. Homes of many of them were destroyed for refusal to comply.
Some fled to neighboring Countries to avoid further mishaps.
However in Mexico they had at one time required that all Males complete one year of Basic Military Training in which if that happened you would be granted a Card that said you Completed Basic Training and were now in the 1st Reserve of the Mexican Military.
However even though the Watchtower Society forbade Witnesses in Malawi from purchasing 25 cent Party Identification Cards they actually allowed Male Witnesses in Mexico to bribe a Military Official into filling out a Card that would claim the Witness completed 1 year of Basic Training and was now in the 1st Reserves.
The Watchtower Society also said if a Witness felt he could commit the Bribery it was entirely up to him to decide if he wanted to Bribe Military Officials into the Fraud.

So wait a minute according to the Watchtower Society all Governments of the World are fornicating with satan yet the Watchtower Society owns Power Plants which have to be Govt regulated?
Gee when is the Watchtower gonna tell it's followers they are fornicating with satan.

One former Jehovah's Witness who is a Born Again Christian mentioned that when she was trying to figure out if Jehovah's Witnesses were the True Faith as well as what is the True Faith if they weren't she saw names of Religions looked at Adventists and saw Jehovah's Witnesses listed under Adventists and she was thinking how is this possible or that this was the 1st time she ever heard any such thing.
Under Jehovah's Witnesses she also found break away groups (I believe Dawn Bible Students was listed since they are a break away group and claim Charles Taze Russell as a Founder).
Indeed though one who is a Jehovah's Witness does end up asking questions when they actually read stuff critical of The Watchtower Society (Gee I think this is why The Watchtower don't like members to read anything Critical of them especially if the Material is written by former Jehovah's Witnesses).

Do you think the governing body sincerely believe what they teach?
by AJN ini haven't had a chance to read crisis of conscience yet, it's a 2 month wait here unfortunately for delivery and i feel it will probably answer some of my questions regarding the gb but it occurs to me - i wonder if they *really* believe what they teach, if they *really* believe it's the truth or are they really manipulating money makers operating a dysfunctional mlm scheme that ruins people's lives.
or perhaps somewhere in the middle lol.. oh yeah, and if anyone knows how the 'new light' is supposedly delivered i'd love to hear about it.. what do you think?
if anyone has read coc and has any quotes that might be useful please post :)

I know for a fact that indeed the Governing Body does not practice what it Preaches.
For instancee they tell members that indeed it is a Sin to be involved in the Occult, however the Governing Body does not bother to admit that Watchtower rulers Past and Present have dabbled in the Occult themselves.
Watchtower Society Founder Charles Taze Russell engaged in Pyramidology, he was also a Freemason.
Interesting thing to note in the African Country of Malawi when the Govt required everyone Purchase 25 cent Party Identification Cards the Watchtower Society told it's members over there to break that law.
Lots of Jehovah's Witnesses were raped and killed for refusing to comply with that law.
Some of them fled to neighoring Countries as well.
Yet over in Mexico there was at one time a requirement that all Males complete at least 1 year of Compulsory Service in the Military.
However the Watchtower Society said that if Conscience permits the Jehovah's Witness in Mexico could bribe a Military official into filling out a Card stating that the Jehovah's Witness completed 1 year of Basic Training and was now in the 1st Reserve of The Mexican Military.
It is like lemme get this straight Mexico required at least 1 yr Compulsory Military Service for Males and Jehovah's Witnesses were permitted to bribe Military Officials into Falsifying that the Withess completed 1 yr Compulsory Service yet Withesses were forbidden from buying 25 cent Party Cards in Malawi).
Gee I wonder how they deal with that down in Australai all Citizens 18 and Over are Required to vote unless the person is in Prison or the person does not understand the whole voting thing (such as the case of some people with Severe Mental Disorders and so forth).
And last I checked a Religion forbidding voting in Elections is not an acceptable reason for refusing to vote in Australia.

"Abhor what is wicked" - and yet JWs allow domestic violence?
by somebodylovesme inold story just came to mind as i was browsing through the watchtower's website (because i can't sleep and i truly find it entertaining) and read an article about abhoring that which is wicked.
i was never a jw - my husband was until he was 20, and is now inactive.
he told me a story that just infuriates me to no end, and i have to wonder if it is common.

Thankfully I never went through Molestation myself back when I attended Kingdom Hall Meetings with my Aunt and Cousin.
Back then I never had thought any memebrs would be Molesters cause of the notion that all Jehovah's Witnesses are good people and stuff (or so I had thought at the time).
I do remember though like at a Kingdom Hall meeting well I had brought Marker for Underlining Passages in Watchtower Magazines and Marker dropped and I remember my Aunt having grabbed my arm a few tiems as well as scratching me a few times and so forth and I remember I wasn't very happy about my Aunt doing that.
I do remember my Aunt giving me a Lecture about how "people in the Kingdom Hall are Honest people and won't steal your stuff and if anything drops another will be glad to pick it up for you and we can't have you picking up dropped Pens/Markers with where we are sitting and a Brother could probably be seeing you doing that."
I didn't tell my Parents whom weren't members themselves about this though as far as I recall.
I do however remember that Months after my Parents quit letting me attend Kingdom Hall meetings with my Aunt there was that one day when my Parents weren't Home and my Aunt was over to Babysit Us and I remember when she was telling me time for bed when my Clock was not even at Bedtime yet and ym Aunt yelled Good Night I said Bad Night and my Aunt like slapped me and shortly after my Parents were home and that night my Parents did let me stay up past Bedtime due to how I was feeling that night and I remember my Dad said he was gonna talk to my Aunt about this too.
And I know my Parents did talk to my Aunt about this.
I do remember the same Aunt whenever she would Babysit us at our House she would Blast my Parents Stereo really loud and she would practically ignore me and my Sister the whole time.
I do rememebr when we had a Family Meeting to Discuss Family Issues my Sister complained about the Stereo Blasting thing and my Mom said she would talk to her about it.
I do remember over the years my Aunt did treat me and my Sister much better although I do also remember pretty well that like when in 1996 my Parents went to the Wedding of a 3rd Cousin of mine on my Dad's side of the Family the same Aunt and another one of my Mom's Sisters stayed at my House along with some Cousins and my JW Aunt noticed the Marijuana Posters in my Sister's Bedroom as well as that Paper that said *bleep* You (I used Bad Language myself at that time) and my Aunt was like "Your Mom doesn't care if your Sister has that in her room?" and I think I said something like Nope or something like that.
My Aunt was herself Disfellowshipped from the Jehovah's Witnesses and last I checked she still believes in the Religion but I so hope she will come to faith in Christ someday.

The high mayor of a French town hates JW's
by Mulan inmy brother visited us today, and told us an interesting experience he had last week in france.
he was in the netherlands on business, and they went to france for a few days to visit friends of one of his business contacts, who was the high mayor of a french town, i cannot pronounce, or remember.
one evening this man began to rant and rave about the jehovah's witnesses in his town and how much he hates them.

Over in France using the 1993 Waco incident as a Springboard they are indeed coming up with Directories of Cults and in some instances Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons got listed as Cults (Well ok they are Cults but genuine Christian Churches have also been listed in the Cults Directory as well, Scary thought).
I happen to be One Eighth French and I often say my French Ancestors were Smart enough to get outta France, especially with the stuff that goes on over there today including Anti-American and Anti-Semetic sentiment.
One individual from France I chatted with who has been to America before has expressed that he would absolutely like to leave France and move to America and I say more Power to him too.
Inspite of the Tense relaitons we have with the French Government I am totally wiling to welcome with Open Arms anyone from France who wants to get outta there and move to America.
And from Conversations I have had with a couple of French people I know for a fact that inspite of how many over there hate Americans there are some who absolutely wanna come to America because believe it or not America is a better Country to live in and Individuals in France wanting to move to America know it too.
For Instance I myself am a person with Disabilities and that one Individual from France I chatted with who is himself a Disabled person said that France does not have good services for the Disabled people and inspite of the flaws America has in services for Disabled people, America's services for Disabled people are a whole lot better than France.
An Example of such is that the American Special Education System is much better than the French Special Education System.
Another person from France said something about the major restrictions they have on if one wants to Homeschool their kids in France (She said yep the American Homeschooling System is much better than the French system).

I ended up thinking of Vampire In Brooklyn considering Brooklyn is where The Watchtower Headquarters is located.
I wonder if this title would read:
No Vampires at Brooklyn Headquarters and it would be about the refusal to accept Blood Transfusions.
The Watchtower Headquarters building can be spotted in the Bananarama-Cruel Summer Video believe it or not. The Watchtower Headquarters is probably featured in several other Music Videos as well if you consider how many Music Videos are filmed in New York plus the location of The Watchtower Headquarters.
Then again quite a few famous people were Jehovah's Witnesses as children including even a U.S. President whom left the Faith as a Teenager.
In fact I think i'll post a list on that if such as list has not yet been posted here before.

carl kunde dies at silverdome
by kilroy2 inmy old partner daryl kunde's father died at the silverdome assembly last week.
it seem's kind of ironic but about 11 years ago when i was still going to the assemblys, we were at the silver dome and 8 old people collapsed from the heat.
[there is not air in the dome] this made me mad and i vented to daryl the monday after the assembly.

I never did attend a District Convention meeting at Pontiac Silverdome during that brief period that I had attended Kingdom Hall meetings with my Aunt and Cousin.
I had like considered attending and stuff, I 1st I didn't think I would cause of like what if I wasn't gonna be able to handle a big crowd like that or I dunno exactly what went through my mind on that one at the time.
I did later consider the idea especially when I heard about a chance of getting Free Books from Pioneers and I was like whoa coolness.
I did however miss the Convention but my Aunt had picked up a couple of books for me anyways I remember one was titled God's Word or Man's? and I think Questions Young People Ask was the other one as well.
I do remember though that yeah I was attending Kingdom Hall Meetings every Sunday and I was attending services at the House of the late Norma Simmons (Jehovah's Witness member, I remember her as a nice Lady I have no idea when she had died though) on Thursdays I had attended some Ministry School Classes on Tuesday but then later decided not to for a couple of reasons including that my Aunt hadn't allowed me to answer a great deal of the Questions at Ministry School.
However at Sunday Meetings I did of course get to answer some of the Doctrine Questions after we studied them outta the Watchtower Magazine.
Even though my Parents weren't exactly interested in becoming part of any religion they still aren't anyways they we're willing to let their children including me choose their own religion as well as whether or not we wanted to attend this or that place of Worship.
I happen to have Learning Disabilities and Emotional Issues to this day. Granted i've made a lot of Improvements over the years thanks to my Faith in Jesus Christ
In having faith in Jesus, he certainly has helped me handle the various Mental Issues a lot better than before I came to Faith.
But anyways before I had attended Kingdom Hall meetings I like well even though I was like yeah I believe in God and Jesus and I had watched Church Services on TV I had no desire for a time to go to an Actual Church and even though I had been invited to come to Kingdom Hall meetings at 1st I was like no but then finally I decided yes and at 1st improvements came such as my behavior had gotten better for a time.
I later went Overboard though, I admit that nowadays. Even after my Parents decided to quit letting me attend Kingdom Hall meetings it took awhile for me to decide I no longer believed Watchtower teachings. Even after that it took me even longer to actually come to Faith and Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.
I am hoping many more who have believed Watchtower Teachings and/or been Baptized into the Jehovah's Witness Faith will come to Faith in Jesus Christ.
By the way noticing this spot pertained to Pontiac Silverdome anyways I am originally from Rochester Hills but I live in Saginaw County nowadays and back in 1989 I had attended meetings at the Auburn Heights Congregation Kingdom Hall located on a Road in Pontiac between Featherstone Road and University Drive I believe the road was Bay Street or somethign similar but anyways if you were an Attendee and/or Member of that very Congregation back in 1989 and have since become a Born Again Christian please E-Mail me Ryan McReynolds at [email protected]om
I got mistakenly referred to as Young Brother Hart a couple of times since I had attended meetings with my Aunt and Cousin and their last name is Hart which happens to be my Mom's Maiden name.
Anyways I don't remember names of all who were members considering I didn't get to know everyone but no matter who you are if you are a Born Again Christian who attended Kingdom Hall Meetings in 1989 and had been a Believer and/or Baptized member of the Auburn Heights Congregation please feel Free to E-Mail me. In factif you are still a member of the Jehovah's Witness faith feel free to E-Mail me as well.
Sincerely
Ryan Phillip Hart McReynolds
