Are there any young folks who are sincere JWs?
by Spudinator ini'm closer to middle-age so that is why the question is posed; so those that are younger or really know some younger jws very well can give an older codger some insight.. i hear a lot of grumbling among those of my generation that the new kids just don't seem to get it.
("it" being the "truth.
") is this really the case for the vast majority?

I'm still an active dub for now, and in my area there are still sincere JW girls and boys (age range 10-20), but they're also walking that fine line between doing what they know is right for themselves now and what they believe is doing what's right for them spiritually. They know from experience that following the pioneer now and do more way of thinking isn't working for them emotionally so it must not be the right thing for them now. People complain in this area about there being no 'spiritual' young men; it's true, hardly any of them are reaching out in the congregation.
I think that young people are becoming more and more aware of their needs and limitations and just aren't pushing themselves, even if they feel guilty about it. I think it's great to see so many young people trying to do what's best for themselves. I only hope that will lead to their leaving the borg in the future.

What's the most ridiculous thing you were ever counselled on?
by micheal inone of the cornerstones of jw's is counsel.
they just love to give counsel and many times they will literally make things up just for the sake of counsel.
i was once counselled for joking around too much.

I was brought to the back room for listening to my underage friend tell me about when he and all his guy friends got drunk together. I didn't tell on them, so I was a sharer in their sins. I was a regular pioneer at the time, and they said they seriously considered removing that "privilege". Dammit! Shoulda taken them up on it!

Dubs drive me nuts sometimes
by Euphemism inthis dub--a good friend of mind, actually--is trying to convince me to go to the elders because i serve alcohol to underage adults (19- and 20-year-olds).

Repressed, Triggered and Recovered Memories
by Big Tex infirst of all, let me say that many, if not most, of my memories of abuse and early childhood were recovered.
some people feel that this diminishes my experience, or in some way denies what happened.
i suffered from major depression and was quite suicidal for 2 years before something happened to trigger my memories.

Thanks for your experiences, everybody. I'm at work so I don't have enough time to read everything in depth, though I would like to. But I just wanted to mention my thanks.

Another fashion slave checking in.
Actually, I'd rather enslave others. My dream career was to become a fashion designer. My high school art teacher encouraged me to apply for a scholarship to an art school and of course I was a good little dub and told her college was the devil.
Now I'm looking forward to exploring that possibility again.

OUR MENTAL HEALTH
by RAYZORBLADE inno epiphany whatsoever, but i was pondering this subject tonight on my way back home from work.. there are many subjects on the matter of health, and of course: post jw, our mental health.. for most of you, how would you rate your present mental health?.
comparitively, our physical health, depending upon what ails us, we can generally heal and feel better after brief or extended recovery time.. mental health on the other hand, is definitely long lasting.. i've been almost 20 years outside of the jws, but i think it nearly took me that entire 20 years to get where i am today.. sad, but true.
anyone like to contribute their thoughts on this matter.. thank you.

I've kind of been at an all-time-low for the past few months...although the last couple of weeks I've been feeling a little better. I think after the stress of the wedding and moving and all the changes...finally being able to settle in with my husband (yay, that's fun to say) and relax, no more meetings to go to, and start a part time job instead of working full time will make a big difference. I hope.
If not, to a counselor I shall go.
