  Have you reunited with anyone from your past?

  has anyone reunited with someone they used to be friends with when they were jw?

  I just barely missed my 10yr high school reunion, but I found one of my school friends on classmates.com. :) She's married and has a couple of kids...they're a nice family. We do stuff with them from time to time.

  It's funny...I told them we weren't going to be JW's anymore and they were like, "oh, that's nice." It's sad to me how big of a deal changing religions has to be sometimes. To some people it's about a big a deal as changing your socks. LOL But her husband had been around Mormons so we got to sharing weird religion stories. Haha

  I want to find my friends growing up who got df'd or fell away. I would dearly love to catch up with them. I recently learned that one of them committed suicide last week.

  My cousin, who I've never been close to and lives out of state, has quit going to meetings. I'm dying to know why. Same with another close friend of mine I don't see too much anymore...

  I've known men like that; I stay away from them. Of course I know women like that too, and I stay away from them too. I try to surround myself with people who appreciate me for who I am.

  I enjoy sexist jokes here and there (male and female), as long as it's all in good fun. I certainly don't believe the stereotypes and have little patience for those who do.

  JW Lifestyle Encourages Bad Health??

  so would you say that you had enough sleep whilst you were an active dub?

  i personally remember feeling tired all the time.

  i had two young children and the treadmill just never seem to stop.

  When I pioneered I would put in 6 hour days (from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.), sometimes 8 hour days (9-6). I was constantly being rushed by other pioneers who either didn't want to take breaks and were irritated by me taking the time to relax when I ate. When I eat, I like to enjoy myself. Nor do I like to stop eating to get up and do a call and go back to finish eating. I was also harrassed in the afternoons by some pioneers who thought it was unnecessary of me to eat lunch.

  These weren't growing women, but c'mon...you can't go running around town for 6 hours in the heat or cold without taking a break or eating anything! They all thought I was lazy. I thought they were all insane. I mean, if I don't eat every few hours, I start getting woozy. My brain stops working, and I get really crabby. I have to eat. When I explained that to them, they would just laugh at me and shake their heads. (But I always made sure I got to eat.) I don't know how they did it.

  To me, piercings aren't any different than wearing a necklace or anklet, or makeup. I think they draw attention to and enhance facial features in unique, exotic ways. I understand some guys prefer the natural thing, and that's cool too. I'm just glad the guy I'm going to marry has similar taste as me.

  On The Art Of Fading

  in october of 2000, i faded away from the watchtower.

  like most people, i have family and friends who are jw's (including my wife and parents).

  fading is generally the best method for people in that situation.

  Ending Relationships

  "it takes courage and honesty to end a relationship---with friends, loved ones, or work relationship.. sometimes, it may appear easier to let the relationship die from lack of attention rather than risk ending it.

  sometimes it may appear easier to let the other person take responsibility for ending the relationship.. we may be tempted to take a passive approach.

  instead of saying how we feel, what we want or don't want, or what we intend to do, we may begin sabotaging the relationship, hoping to force the other person to do the difficult work.. those are ways to end relationships, but they are not the cleanest or easiest ways.. as we walk this path of self-care, we learn that when it is time to end a relationship, the easiest way is one of honesty and directness, we are not being loving, gentle, or kind by avoiding the truth, if we know the truth.. we are not sparing the others's feelings by sabotaging the the relationship instead of accepting the end or the change, and doing something about it.

  Thanks for posting this, crowwoman. I've been meaning to give my notice to my boss for weeks and have been chickening out. Leave it to good ol' Melody Beattie for the right words at the right time. I need to dig out her book and give it a read again.
