I agree with Darth Fader as well. More power to them if they're enjoying it, and there is nothing wrong with having fun, especially during conventions where all you do is sit for hours on and listen. What does bother me is the special treatment given to these people when the Watchtower criticizes other religions for giving certain members special privileges. They make it a huge event and congregations treat them like VIP. People crowd around them. It's also odd to think about this going on in a convention site, imagine if it was not done for the international delegates and just the average members.

Commenting At The Meetings---Did You Enjoy It?
by minimus inwas that important for you?
most people, i believe, forced themselves to give an answer.
i knew many elders and servants over the years being counseled because they rarely answered.. funny thing....my mom who is 88 cries if she doesn't give a comment.

I don't like commenting and practically never do it but the after feel of it was good, like you accomplished something big. I think it's that good feeling that gets some to comment often. I get pushed to comment sometimes, someone either brings it up or my mother tells me to comment but I never do. To be fair, I hardly comment in school as well, unless the professor really needs one.

circuit overseer worship
by Magnum infor over thirty years i observed among jws the phenomenon of co worship/idolatry.
i, myself, was somewhat guilty of it even though i rather quickly caught on and detected something wrong.. think about the week of the co visit.
during that week most attention is given to and most thought is about the co. the supposed sovereign of the universe takes a backseat.

CO and DO's get all the VIP treatment they need and a lot of times is like idolatry. This happened at the last Assembly I had, but for a retiring elderly DO after they gave all DO's the boot. The DO made an announcement after he finished his speech that he was to retire to bethel with his wife. After the assembly was over, all of a sudden a huge crowd of people come up to him, shaking his hand, taking his picture. Some where even holding their iPads up over the crowd just to take a picture, it was crazy. And the DO? He had a huge smile on his face, all happy with the attention he was getting, and all the pictures he was taking with kids and adults.

Brother Jake on Tithing (Follow the Money Trail)
by cultBgone inhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4oa7o2n-ds.
we're always saying the way to reach someone still "in" is to share parallel information about other religions and bro.
jake's videos (with very minor variations) are almost interchangeable between mormons and witnesses.. .

Someone should do a version of this video for the Watchtower. Guy makes a point about transparency, If an organization claimed to be the only channel of God, why can't it be transparent on it's money?

Good point Steve2, anyone today would search up a topics or idea on google if they can't find the answer, its just common sense. Good luck on having any support for "1914 Jehovah's Witness" on the first search page, aside from the one JW.org link.

I think these pins and trinkets are more designed for the international assembly delegates. I saw their goodie bags and gifts. I could be wrong though. Anyway it does move Jw's into the more mainstream religious ways with this JW.org stuff. It's odd and does make one think of "idol worship". Eventually those in headquarters won't like what they see and read a letter or something that will push the pins into negativity, although it does give them the exposure they want.

1) Daniel 12:8 is in a completely different context that has nothing to do with Daniel 4 unless you initially assume Daniel 4 has a double future meaning.
2) weak reason given for Daniel 4:17 indicating a second meaning; the expression "so that people living may know that the Most High is Ruler in the Kingdom of mankind and that he gives it to whom ever he wants". It does point to God but the point of that prophecy was for Nebuchadnezzar to recognize it.
3) not all of the book of Daniel talks about God's Kingdom. Even the chapters before and after Daniel 4 have nothing to do with it. Chapter 3 is the firey furnace and chapter 5 is the handwriting on the wall.
4) the JW of the story jumps to different texts and chapters that are not related to the event in Daniel 4 to say that Daniel 4 has to have a second fulfillment.
5) no reason why Luke 21:24 is connected to Daniel 4, other than pulling it out of context and applying it there.
6) Omits fact that the Bible Students believed 1914 to be the end of the world, Gentiles ended in October whereas the war began months beforehand. But in all fairness to the article, any JW wouldn't know or even think of that.
7) Jerusalem didn't fall in 607 bce, it fell in 586/587 bce but that's another lengthy subject to talk about.
Things to note: the "What Does the Bible Really Teach" book and other literature by the Watchtower give the reason that Daniel 4 has a second fulfillment because of the tree. They say that trees often represent individuals or Kingdoms, and that in this case it representa God's kingdom. But this reason wasn't even mentioned in this article, it just jumps to the idea. The person is never invited to read all of Daniel 4 to get to the actual feel of the context, and to have a chance to evaluate. I also noticed that the article and information always refer to the fact that Nebuchadnezzar had his rulership removed for "7 times", yet the reason for that is hardly ever discussed which could help get a better picture of the chapter.

This is only done for international delegates for the international assembly. They're the new line of VIP members, a class of it's own. They get the special treatment and respect from the average JW's and congregations.

I was there just last week. The tour is very short, but they added an exhibit featuring their cleanly-cut washed history and a short bible exhibit that shows the name Jehovah in the bible, even including it in the new testament. I asked the tour guide if any reason was given for leaving brooklyn. He said that no official reason has been given, except the Governing Body has hinted things here and there like corruption of the city, homosexuality, and saying it would be better for the evangelising work (not sure how exactly but I didn't question further). He also said that selling the properties would bring in money but that it wasn't the reason why they are moving. The tour guide was a new guy so I don't expect him to know too much but that's all I can inform.
All other buildings will be sold off, and that one featured in the video will be last to go.
