I really thought the witnesses had the truth, until I came here. The lies were real whoppers. The truth did hurt but it also set me free.

District Assembly arrangements 2014.
by quellycatface inmy jw mother drives me nuts.
she lives in quite a cut-off part of the uk and this year, is expected to travel to hq (rugbyfans), aka twickenham.
she's great to make the trip, it's like a spiritual holiday for her.. i said i thought it ridiculous and unreasonable for the gb to expect people to travel that far and pay for accommodation near london.

Woe beside you if you're not there, I bet. Jehovah will be angry.
I deliberately missed Cardiff last year and spent the money on us as a family.

I said I thought it ridiculous and unreasonable for the GB to expect people to travel that far and pay for accommodation near London. It's okay for her as she is quite comfortably off. BUT what about those families who aren't? Will the WT pay help to pay their way? Will they hell!!
My Mum said and here we go, "Jehovah will bless those people who make the journey to their assemblies." No practical advice then? Just Jehovah bless and all that crap again.

They don't know what to do....
by pbrow inhave been going to a few meetings to support my kids that have to go with their mother.
i knew it would be a powerful lesson for them to see how these loving people treat their father who da'd a while ago.
couple of elders tried to corner me the 2nd or 3rd time i went to remind me that i cant talk to anyone.... i however reminded them that i am not df'd and i can talk to whomever i want to.

I thought in Christendom, "everyone was welcome at church." If the JW's ARE, Christians, should'nt the same rules apply. Or, they have to put a sign up over the door (like in public houses, nighclubs etc...), "The Management have the right to refuse admission." Then would it interfere with their charity status and make them a business?
Just asking, to be pedantic!!

An important question for active JW's
by Honesty inif you and a fellow jehovah's witness went to a house where the homeowner brought up a watchtower doctrine which you secretly disagree with, would you defend it or tell them what it is you really believe?.
either way you are at a loss.. defending something you disagree with is living a lie and telling a lie.
not defending it and telling the home owner what you really believe makes you an apostate by watchtower society standards.

It's a real tricky one, eh? Fortunately, I had been inactive for quite a few years, so never got asked any questions. I would, however find it hard to back the blood issue for instance, because I never really agreed with it.

I always used to let me son attend birthday parties (even when I was still "in"). It's far too cruel letting them miss out and stand out at such a tender age. Let the little lassie have fun.
