FORGIVENESS ... You owe it to your health

while i was working as an employee i did not feel like i had the time to read them.
now that i'm not working as an employee but work as a volunteer to network and maintain workplace skills, i seem to have more time to read.. after reading many threads by former jws, i thought that the following article might help some to heal.

I am a naturally forgiving and trusting person. I don't hold grudges and move on quickly from disagreements. But this has ended in more heartache in some cases, because I trust people again after they have hurt me. I need to be less trusting. I need to separate forgiveness and trust.

Unfortunately, a member of my family is a textbook sociopath. How anyone can live like that is beyond me, but it's a learning experience to say the least. You cannot make the mistake of ever trusting the person to be legit with their affections, empathy or loyalties. Zero.
It is perfectly natural to expect basic goodness and human decency from fellow humans, but that doesn't mean we must blank out our memories as to what some people are perfectly capable of doing (a small list of what this person did in the past):
- sleeping with brother-in-laws (including my boyfriend at one point)
- dangling their own infant son off the side of a bridge
- lying, cheating, coaxing information from people, only to distort it and spread it as half truth rumors later on. Try weeding your way through that, only to have people believe the made up shit anyway!
- ever apologizing (if caught) but never adjusting behavior if he/she can get away with it next time
And on and on it goes.

Watchtower deserves zero forgiveness in my book. The poor zombies who recruited me into JW-dom have my forgiveness, because they'd been bitten first and did not have their faculties fully functional at the time.

serious questions:
• What would happen to all the land assets and money if the leadership were to suddenly call it quits?
• Could they get away with embezzeling everything or no?
• Is it possible for the watchtower legal dept to assess/bill the society itself into a massive amount of debt (kinda like how scientology does to defectors), making it so that particular group/faction of the leadership (the lawyers) could walk away with everything scot-free?

Avoid Going back to the JW's - Educate Yourself about Mind Control
by flipper ini've talked with some good friends on the board about this before and we seem to be in agreement : one reason ( among many ) that some disfellowshipped jw's go back and return to the wt organization is because they are full of uneeded guilt or uneeded fear because they haven't educated themselves about how the wt society uses mind control tactics to deceive them into thinking they have " nowhere else to go " .
i understand that some dfed ones may go back to the organization for family and friends- however- it's an exrecise in futility because once you learn the truth about the truth you cannot undo what you heard.
so some may just go back and live a fake jw life to appease family- but just think of how that can damage a person's emotional and mental health playing the fake jw game the rest of their lives !

villagegirl, thank you for that summary. Reading what you wrote hurt but i'm still working thru some parts of it myself. Wish my husband would wake up, but it's starting to look more and more like he never will.
OMG, what I put my biological family thru whilst getting waltzed into "da troof". They're all dead now, so there's no undoing or apologizing for any of it, either.

Why did Jesus tell the convict on the cross next to his, that he would be joining him in Heaven TODAY??
by Faithful Witness inmaybe a silly question, but i'm curious about this part of the story of christ's crucifixion, when the 1 thief challenges jesus to save himself and "us too" from their deaths, but the 2nd thief rebukes him and pleads with jesus... .
luke 23:42-43: and he said unto jesus, lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
and jesus said unto him, verily i say unto thee, today shalt thou be with me in paradise.. .

JWs actually mistranslate Luke 23:43. They move the comma to after the word "today", changing what Jesus was saying.

Why the attempt to deliberately deceive people by mispunctuation by placing a comma after "today" in Luke 23:43 when in the Greek, Latin, German and all English translations except yours, in the Greek in even your KIT, the comma occurs after lego (I say)?-- "Today you will be with me, in Paradise". 2 Cor. 5:8, "to be out of the body and at home with the lord'' These passages teach that the redeemed go immediately to heaven after death , which does not agree with your teachings that death ends all life until the resurrection (Ps. 23:6 and Heb. 1: 10 ) .

i was recently appointed an elder, about 6 months ago now, and that is exactly two years after my awakenning, but funny that the appointment came also about 2 years after i had completely lost all faith in god and had been leading a full time anti-jw life .
makes you wonder the role of the holy spirit in the entire nomination or appointment process.. .

If you're an elder, there is next to nothing forbidding you from "re-connecting" with anyone whatsoever, dufus (hint: "shepherding the sheep", meaning you can visit/talk to pretty much anyone you like while an active elder).
Wank-ass "elders" anyway. What a bunch of hooey manure. Loved it when my last "shepherding" call consisted of a young buck-ass elder clapping his hands together like a seal when he learned I was going in for an operation. The young man was a complete stranger to me, but was insisting on accompanying my husband and I to the hospital for the surgery. Yeah, no. If I'm going under the knife and coming out completely helpless and discharged to my husband's care, YOU (meaning young punk ass dipwit) are not coming at all. Period. End of story.
Good lord, do these men ever take a hint? He was going to sit around the intake area and annoy people who were already under a great deal of stress. All done in the name of recruitment, no less. Nothing to do with caring for anyone who was already on the inside. What colossal asshat.
