Cofty,
Are you saying that to believe in a creator God is delusion or to believe in the Genesis 1 account of creation is delusion? Or do you equate one with other finding no room for any other reasonable possibility?
i've been out the organisation for around 8 years.
when i first left, im positive that i suffered from some sort of post traumatic stress.
i was very angry at myself for accepting the really bad parts of the religion that i strongly disagreed with.

it has been about 2000 years since jesus walked the earth and has been hailed as the son of god by christians .. the jews refuse to acknowledge jesus as the son of god.. the muslims recognise jesus as only a prophet .. their are billions of christians earth wide.
their are at least a billion muslims world wide.
i`m sorry i dont know how many jews their are world wide ( please add the 6 million who died in concentration camps ).
Perry,
This forum is filled with people who time and again have shown love for their neighbor. They have tenderly and with much effort tried to support and help their fellow man who has fallen into the pit of hypocritical religion and hypocritical religious leaders. Can you read hearts? Do you know exactly what each circumstance is for every person here? Has God made these things known to you? Do you not see that climbing on a judgment seat is akin to some of the pharisees of Jesus' day? They felt themselves more righteous than the common man who did not have the outward appearance and the supposed superior knowledge that the pharisees claimed to have.
We walk on a road not ours when we attempt to condemn our fellow. That road belongs to Christ alone and we should REMEMBER thatJesus spent much more time condemning the hypocrisy of the men taking the lead than those who were being trampled by them, those in spiritual need.
God has the power to make himself known when he wishes to do so, our job is to encourage a little faith here and there, if possible, but not to force people to believe. Why should they? Who are we, you and I? No one. People are struggling with the real problems they see in the Bible and the long stretch of time since Christ walked the earth and so on. It is natural and logical that many are losing faith in God's existence and Christ's teachings. We CANNOT MAKE PEOPLE BELIEVE only God can do that. All we can do is put a little comment enouraging faith in God here and there and hope in God that what we say may not stumble others something many times unavoidable on a forum.
People here LOVE! What more can be asked of them until God himself steps in? Nothing.

Perry,
"Failing to listen to God's message of redemption through the blood od his Son, most people will only hear God speak on Judgment Day. This will not be a friendly conversation."
Who appointed you prophet? What qualifications do you have to declare with certainty what God will or will not do? My goodness, get a hold of yourself man.
Discussing the Bible and faith is one thing but declaring a condemnation on most people is something else entirely!
Jonah you are not but even he had to recognize his ego, his desire to be in the right even at the expense of others was shall we say; Wrong, Wrong, Wrong.

"If He were there, your call to end His silence is just the right thing to shout."
Agreed! All should do the same.

Jambon1,
Speaking of Raymond Franz' books it is rarely mentioned that he maintained his faith in God and Christ. Now, that does not mean that we should follow his lead in that but it is food for thought. I believe James Penton and Carl Olof Jonsson (sp?) also have kept their faith, two men well known for their contributions exposing the JW religion.
I would hope that these men are given the respect and dignity of their own mind and conscience and not put down as somehow less wise than atheist xjws.

engages in revisionist history [1914 christ's presense foretold].
judge rutherford was a false prophet and a crook [1925, beth-serim].
TTATTelder,
Everyone must take their own steps. My husband took his time and did thing HIS way not the way the Watchtower or others thought he should go. I'm happy that he did.
Keep going the way YOU BELIEVE IS BEST FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY! Because no one else will have to pay the piper but you and your family.

i always wondered about these fish.
i still wonder if you remove a breeding pair of such fish from the cave, are their offspring blind, too?.
"would they accept evidence that indicated the cave was formed more than 6000 years ago?"
I it think not an intelligent question to put all fish/Christians in the same barrel. (pun intended)
Not all Christians are fundies or liberals or moderates or associated with a religion.
But it does make it easier to put them all together into the same fundy barrel as Dawkins likes to do.
alright.
let's have the ultimate discussion on "higher education.
" let's talk about the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Data-Dog,
Choice is important and the Watchtower's refusal to openly allow choice (though quite a few attend community colleges anyway) is wrong. But I agree that not everyone suffers from a lack of university education. Not falling for the social pressures to have the biggest house and the latest car is a good thing. Many people outside the JWs live within their means and are happy doing so.
No immense bills, no immense car payment, makes for a life with much less anxiety. Enough time to read to the kids and take them to parks, weekend vacations, without the pressure to produce, produce, produce at every turn is soooooooo good. At 5:00 life takes over every evening with no interruptions.
Getting the kids addicted to have a savings account is important. Once they get the fever to add more than they subtract from their savings then they are on their way to living a life not subject to the pitches on tv or the internet. They become independent of commercial interests. Too many people have strings tied to them and buy whatever is pitched. Sad to see.
Having said that, many cannot make ends meet without furthering their education and others want to attend university to expand their knowledge. The Watchtower has no right to criticize or ban, we are free!

"Experiments with "eyeless" genes taken from mice and implanted in fruit flies have resulted in extra eyes on legs and antennae."
Cofty were those extra eyes connected to the animal's/insect's brain enabling them to see or were they only external spots/tissue?
peace to you!.
this thread is about false things (some) atheists think theists believe.
this is not a thread about false things that atheists think about theists.
Hi Jgnat,
"I would not have lain around crying about it, though. Time to get your dancing shoes on, girl!" Good point.
Maybe Jephthah's daughter should have said, "Pops, I'm going to the city and have a good time for myself and get rid of this virginity thing before you kill me."
