Dress Code
by Tron in.
i stumbled on to my wife km and started to read it,wow thers alot of crap in there huh,but there was one topic about your dress atire,i cant believe that some people could have a gang of freaks locked away in a building tell them what not to wear such as faddish or trendy fashion ,are jw's so mentally weak.
if there are any jw's here attending meetings wake up and smell the coffee your wasting your life.. tron.

This is pathetic!
by obiwan inok has anyone heard or watched the new cartoon with pam anderson called "stripperella"?
this cartoon witch pam anderson does the voice over is supposed to be a stripper at night and later that night she fights crime and is some kind of superhero.
lol she gave a small interview about the show and said that the only thing she wanted was to make sure the cartoon didn't show her boobs....what the hell was stan lee thinking?

omg this cartoon is SO LAME! and i do not have high expectations of cartoons either. I heard that Gary the Rat (another new Spike TV cartoon) is equally as lame. wow that switch from TNN to Spike TV has really paid off for them...

What's the funniest gag / stunt you saw 'in service'?
by DFWnonJW injust curious here <eg>.
i've heard of plenty of teenagers knock-n-running but that's rather on the dull side.
so what's the funniest bit of slapschtick you've seen or heard of witnesess pulling while getting in the time quota?

i dont really recall any pranks that I pulled, but i remember one time being out in service and it was my turn to speak at the door, and we just happened to be at a particular house the owner of which was notorious for disliking witnesses (but of course we just kept bothering the poor man to death)...and i knocked on the door all scared...and the guy answers his door COMPLETELY naked. i was HORRIFIED at the time (but thinking back on it i think that's a pretty ingenious witness deterrent!)

yikes, that is a very difficult situation to be in. i dont have kids and dont plan on it, so i dont know that i can really say anything helpful, except maybe this - i would have KILLED to have a parent that allowed me to CHOOSE whether or not i wanted to be a JW, because i definitely would have chosen not. i know your wife thinks she's saving their lives by bringing them up in the truth, but you might be doing more to save their lives by allowing them a dissenting view. good luck to you.

wow, so many welcomes, i feel so loved already!! yes, i'm 21 (just turned about a month ago) from california. I was one of the unlucky born-in-the-truthers, hardcore believed in it until about age 12 when mom and dad got a divorce and ALL of our former friends shunned our entire family (but of course we still went to meetings like clockwork...even when everyone makes a point to ignore you, you still have to 'keep your eyes on the prize', right? ) that whole experience just caused me to question a lot of what i learned in the truth, and i realized that their version of the truth was highly unsatisfactory - but of course, being terrified of being destroyed in armaggedon and being also basically forbidden to leave the organization while still living in my parents' house, i went to meetings and conventions until i turned eighteen, at which time i promptly moved out of the house and proceeded to do all those things i had been forbidden to do as a JW kid - went to parties, got a tattoo, pierced practically everything in sight (and some things not exactly in sight as well)...you name it. thankfully i've settled down quite a bit since that initial period of getting used to having freedom. now i'm catching up on all the holidays i missed out on (i've gone trick or treating two years in a row now - thank goodness i'm kind of short!)
so that's basically my little story. i can post a pic as well, if that's allowed, i'm not quite up on all the rules yet...thanks again for all of your welcomes!!!

What did you learn as a JW?
by JH inwith 5 meetings a week plus field service, and additional reading of the bible and watchtower literature, what did you learn after all these years in the jw organization?
did we need all those meetings and time and effort just to know some simple details?
in all these years i spent there, this is just about all i can say i learned there: .

tinkerbell82
i learned that asking questions is proof that you're faithless and no good that learning adequate social skills is unnecessary, that the proof that you have a conscious is the fact that you feel guilty all the time for every near-transgression that being a great actress is more important than actually learning about god.
