10am field service group from hall on christmas morning door to door. No I will not be going out on that day or boxing day or new years day. Two elders are very vocal about going out and are then very vocal/nasty verbally to those that do not. They are just bullys and nasty!

Christmas Field Service
by NeverKnew inon another thread, i read that a few adherents may be traveling (cough-cough) to other cities and wouldn't be able to make field service on christmas day.. what is the likelihood that going out on christmas will be encouraged at the weekend services at the khs?
...or do most halls stay neutral on this?
given what i've read on this forum, i have the impression that disrespecting a day of other's celebration wouldn't be discouraged which annoys the heck out of me..

COMPETITION IN THE CONGREGATION!
by ADJUSTMENTS inthere always seemed to be a level of unspoken competition within the congregation.
wether it be between elders, ms, pioneers, etc... who's kids are doing more, who gets more hours out, who comments the most or the best, who gives the best parts, whos kids are the best, who has the better car, who has the better house, who has the better job and so on... it's not openly discussed but you can discern it through conversations, sometimes you can hear undertones of jealousy or meddling in others business, this always bothered me!
if this is gods organization whats with all the jealousy and competiton, i would see other religions or organizatons with less of these issues and question it!.

This is so true Adjustments!
And Julia Orwell again so true, what is it with broth sis, going to meetings with flu, coughing and spluttering through the meeting.
You are all so right! And the elders with the biggest house, car, the ones that had the education and now have good jobs and earn big wages and have holidays abroad every year why are they and the wife allways the ones to be so vocal at meetings in talks and when answering about not having an education or the biggest and best of everything when thats exactly what they do.
The elders wives who get gifts at the end of a pioneer month, because it just exhausts them. And why do they all stick together socially, going out for meals to each others homes but never inviting the not so well off/educated!
When they say the congregation is a spiritual paradise with true friends I have to stop myself from laughing!

What are you doing on Christmas day?
by Jen1 inany one out there doing field service?
i have not gone out on that day in years.
and have no intention of ever doing that again.

Any one out there doing field service? I have not gone out on that day in years. And have no intention of ever doing that again. We have an elder in our congreagation who started talking about service on christmas day and how he expects every one out. This was right in the middle of his talk and nothing to do with the talk. He gets really nasty every year, and demmands to know why brothers and sisters did not go out Christmas day, and does the same for new years day. Its funny since him and his wife came to our congreataion a few years ago how most of the elders now go on holiday for christmas or to visit family a long way off! Seriously! The first year he guilted a lot to go out with his continued nasty comments I asked how it had gone some said never again, some horrible, some just rolled there eyes. I asked his wife she said oh it was fantastic you really missed out.
So what will I be doing? A nice long lay in. Soak in bath. Dinner and lots of wine at mums. An evening of TV, in my pjs. And on boxing day? A nice long walk.

Sighhhhhhhh, the Draw Close to Jehovah book again for the Congregation Bible Study.
by Stand for Pure Worship incheck out this gem from the dec 2013 km which explains why it's good to over this book a second go round.. "congregations previously considered this book during 2004 and 2005. however, for many of the approximately two million publishers who have come into the truth since then, this will be the first time that jehovahs endearing qualities have been discussed in detail.for those who studied the book before, the review will help them to deepen their appreciation forjehovahs attributes.ps.119:14".
i gotta kick out of this because i can only think of maybe two or three new ones in our congregation who weren't present when this book was first studied.
at the same time, going over jehovah's qualities isn't something new.

NO! I threw out a load of books last week just kept the basics! Now I am going to have to get through that gang of teenagers that surround the literature counter to get one, to find they have run out I expect! (Trendy bro behind the counters a magnet for all the teenagers)

Late 40s brought up in truth. Left school at 16. Did cleaning work. Pioneered into early 20s, at that time 90 hours a month. Tired and drained all the time! Managed to change to auxillery 60 hours month at the time. Then after a while was able to be a publisher.
I have done cleaning work for years.

Prepare for meetings??
by Jen1 indo you prepare for meetings?
if i go i spend a few minutes underlinging my books/watchtower.. i have noticed that those who do the micks especially notice when your stuff is not underlined, and comments are made after the meeting, not so gentle hints, about study and preperation!
in other words i am being told off, its usually the ones who are highly critical of everything i do, sometimes their whole family seems to be straining to see if my stuff is underlined, i know this because i heard the daughter to family wisper her watchtower is not underlined!.

So good to know I am not alone! A big thing in our congregation is to print out all the scriptures in the Watchtower study, so people are waving them around with the watchtower, trying to follow along. I said I could not afford the paper or the print and for once they shut up!

Its two particular families, both elders with critical wives and highly jugemental teenage daughters.

Can WTBTS legally do this for international conventions.
by joe134cd ini was just reading this on jwservey with regard to the international conventions.
if an individual selected to attend a special convention loses his exemplary status and is no longer qualified to attend, the delegate should be thoroughly informed of the reason for your decision.
such a person would be fully responsible for any financial loss associated with his abrupt disqualification as a delegate, even up to the time he was supposed to depart.. .

I thought all district conventions worldwide were open to the public thats why jws go around with leaflets 3 weeks before to invite everyone in the world, and that work is done worldwide. So you can make your own arrangement in theory but the reality is jws see it as a going against the organisation and do not like it at all.
This is what gets me if you join a tour to a convention to another country you have to pay way to much money the cost is unreasonable, so only the rich can afford it, the ones who have good full time jobs which they got because they went to university/college! You have to dress jw style the whole trip! If I had that education and could go I could never sit for hours at the airport and on the plane in meeting clotes! I hate sitting for 2 hours in meeting clothe

post meeting dirty moods.
by zeb inso you are 'out' and the other in 'in'.
do they come home with the grumps after every meeting?.
-
Jen1
piztjw you made me laugh! I agree, usually in a foul mood before the meeting. Not one single part of me wants to go, having to drag myself out on a weeknight especially in the winter is hell. Knowing I have to sit in a boiling hot hall and put up with nasty comments from certain ones! I can get away with missing lots of meetings but have to go at times! Managed to miss the whole circuit visit this time. Listened in to circuit overseers talks just to know what was going on, usually get grilled about listening in.
Oh and as for cleaning the hall. Who really wants to do that! I used to be so happy to do that until a family moved in who made it clear they did not want to do the toilets an elders wife, the whole family gets a duster and stands around pretending to clean every single time, at one point watching my elderly mum and me clean the toilets yet again. One day mum was not feeling to good after field service and we were due to clean after service so I told them I was going to take mum home and stay with her, this elders wife said shall we leave the toilets for you I said no I am going to take care of mum not going to come to hall cleaning But who is going to clean the toilets she said. That was it for me have not gone to hall cleaning since. Now no one will touch the toilets because of this elders wifes attitude and her husband is guilted into doing them every time! Before they came into congregation we all used to take it in turns to do toilets, no problems!
My head was pounding, after meeting on Sunday and my body felt tired and achy feel this way after every meeting, takes a couple of hours after to feel better, I swear each time it happens coming down with cold/flu but never do, weird. Stress.
