Hit 'em where it hurts. Write them a letter and tell them that due to their atrocious and unchristian behaviour, the likes of which would make Jesus vomit, you now tell EVERYONE you come into contact with, how your husband is treated by his children, who are following the rules of the Watchtower. Tell them that, thanks to your horrible story of their actions, there are now hundreds of people that will never fall victim to the evil slave- the Watchtower, and all you have to do is tell the truth.
Keep it really short. Write it in a postcard, in fact, so they can't return it unopened and unread.
Geez, the WT really turns people into poopyheads, doesn't it?
A thought just occured to me, is it possible that they have a second motivation to act like this... to support the mother (ex-wife?) Is this like some sort of line in the sand, but they are using the disfellowshipping excuse to draw it?

daniel sydlik, what a guy!
by dvw inhope this worked.
i thought a memorial was not to be a way to make the deceased the object of adoration.
isnt it supposed to glorify joho and make known the glorious prospect of the ressurection?

There's a WT graveyard out at Watchtower Farms, for those that don't have family on the "outside" to buy them a plot or an urn.

It's a nice handout. Too bad when the average JW dies, if the family did something like this, well... it wouldn't be allowed. Two sets of measuring weights.

My sis calls & says,"Your dead"&"I wish you'd died in a car accident"(long)
by morwen inya know... i'm a bit amazed at times at how utterly out of touch with reality jw's can be.
here's a little bit of a background of what's been going on....
i've been having an on going issue with my jw family about my husband & i(and our 4 young children) no longer going to meetings and us having questions/problems with this religion.we are not df'd nor da'd (at this point) but have not been to a meeting in about 7 months and have been inactive for probably 3-4 years now.we haven't lived near my parents for several years so they have been a little "in the dark" so to speak as to us being inactive but we kinda were given a bit of "lee-way" since 5 yrs.

Geez, wow. I don't know what to say, they are so totally propagandized, there's no room for a rational thought.

Sorry, need to moan and belly ache
by Elsewhere ini normally try not to moan and belly ache here, but today i'm really down.
the other day i was kidding and joking about being "socially-challenged", it can be fun to do this... but sometimes it catches up to me.
i spend the vast majority of my evenings and weekends alone... movies, restaurants, community events, parties, you name it.

Geez Else. You ARE TOO cute, plus interesting and intelligent. If I were single, I'd go out with you in a heart-beat. Girls like me, like guys like you because we talk so damn much someone has to be the "quiet" one. Just ask my husband.
Yup, he works in tech, he has a couple of friends, mainly because he's not exactly a *ahem* social butterfly. His quiet is often mistaken for a self-esteem issue, when really, it's just that he doesn't have anything to add to the conversation. (Probably because I already said it.) But he is cool and smart.
Let me tell you about our first date: Um... well, I asked him out. Yeah. Because he had good manners, and I was tired of dating a bunch of tools who wouldn't hold the door open for me, or say "please," "thank you," and "excuse me." Anyways, I knew him socially very slightly, but I needed a lift somewhere and called him. He couldn't leave work at that time, and called me to apologize. I told him no problem, and said I was hungry and was he hungry... if so, meet me at *gag* Red Robin. (I HATE that place, but it was close by, and LOUD.) He showed up, no joke, with a newspaper, and... wait for it... jokes. Yes, dear Else, I found out later that he had gone online and looked up JOKES to tell me so he'd have something to say just in case we needed an ice-breaker. He also stopped and bought a newspaper in case we needed another subject to discuss.
Luckily, he didn't need the jokes or the newspaper. HA! 'Cause I talked his ear off. Then we went down to the animation festival and watched Pib and Pog. (My idea, cause funny stuff on a first date is good... except for jokes off the internet. Bad. Unless they're funny.)
So... I guess what I'm saying is that being "socially handicapped," may not be as much of a handicap as you think. Okay, maybe my story didn't exactly make that point. LOL! but the kind of woman you want is the kind of woman who actually appreciates a quieter guy like you, so just make yourself available by suffering through the social gatherings, even if it kills you :) , and watch out for psycho-chicks. Daytime gatherings are better because then the married women are there looking for nice guys to set up with their single friends. Start schmoozing the moms and marrieds, and leave the rest to the married women's uncontrollable desire to introduce their friends to the guys they already like. -

An intriging tale of corruption in the congregation {Mark Heber Miller}
by sf inhttp://www.nazarene-friends.org/pubs/confessions/000.htm
i haven't read marks story in a while and was looking for the part where he states ted jaracz went out in field service with him and a few other brothers back in the 70's, in newport beach/ balboa island, for another thread here.. if you grew up in southern california as a jw, you might find it a very intriging tale of just how the elite congs were being run.
i know for myself it is like trying to fit pieces of a puzzle.

I have also for many heard tales of corruption in the SoCal region, and spanning several states. However, the fantastical nature of a great deal of his tale, calls into question everything he writes. My bullshit meter was pinging pretty loudly, but it went off the charts when I got to the point of his tale where he claims that out of 100 elders, he was the ONLY ONE... blah blah. I just can't buy it. I believe certain aspects of the story: the cliques, the elitism, the "materialism," and the drinking, although I certainly don't believe that ALL the elders and servants were alcohol abusers... etc.
It's a shame, because an "expose" could be a helpful/useful thing, but it loses it's value as a resource when the writer engages in such blatant self-congratulation, egotistical "admissions," self-promotion, and evident delusion. It also calls into question any accusations he levels against the corrupt elders in those circuits. I have known many, MANY elders, servants, and even teenagers, (which he also universally maligns, with the exception, of course, of his children,) who possess integrity, honesty and dedication to study and pursuit of understanding of the scriptures. I cannot accept the assertion that this was 99% absent among the leaders, as well as many of the adherents of all the congregations in SoCal and surrounding areas. (With the writer being the 1% exception against overwhelming opposition.)
Nothing I have ever read from any whistle-blower has indicated anything close to the level of deceit, hypocrisy and malicious intent that the writer herein claims, and we have had a number of people, even from that area, with the same level of experience, come out and be very vocal in the ex-jw community. I believe if things were truly even half of what the writer claims, we would have seen a great deal more corroboration from other ex-jws hailing from that area.
This tale, IMO, should be viewed as just that: a tale, based on actual persons and places, but only a story, a work of fiction. -

I also am having a very difficult time believing this story. In addition to all the high honors at such a young age, against so much opposition and "jealousy," memorizing more of the bible and literature than nearly anyone in the organization, including members of the governing body who were also "jealous," he's a world class bodysurfer, surviving where others cannot, a world-class climber, surviving where others cannot, a world-class photographer, with not one but two of the top 100 most published photos, personal photographer to famous and beautiful fashion models all over the world, rich-several times, a world-class business starter, single-handedly responsible for the trend of JWs owning janatorial businesses, and more powerful than a black-belt Karate expert, being so expert in the manipulation of qi himself that he could knock the black-belt expert on his back without even touching him, worked on movie sets, was allowed into one of the greatest cultural finds of the century to be the first photographer, and could out-drink the Chinese government...
And I've only just finished chapter seven.
Wow! He wrote "Cliffhanger," but "they" stole the idea from him. Impressive! -

just2sheep, you are way farther out of line on this one than the c-word, yet your personal attacks remain. Back away from the vodka bottle. Scully is one of the most even-handed moderators I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with on this or several other boards.
Dang. forgot what I wanted to say to the new guy... Man, that is one messed up story. Why didn't they df your dad for not being able to maintain a fine household? DF a KID for running away from an abusive father, then attending all the meetings? geez. So sorry.
