  Do you really want to save us?

  this is for the christians.. let's put our swords away.. try to convince those of us that have lost our faith to accept jesus christ and all that that acceptance entails.. pretend that our lives( eternal) depend on it.. that's what you believe isn't it?.

  this is an opportunity to win souls for christ.. yes.

  things may get heated.

  NVR, I'm with you on this one. Two things come to my mind, one is that there are believers who believe that the Bible is from God. Secondly, believers believe that they have had a personal experience of some kind or another. My conclusion is that it is very hard for the believers to convince you by quoting the Bible or sharing their personal expience with you or me. That leaves blind faith, something that you and I and many others can't accept.

  When I wrote to Raymond Franz on the question of the Bible being inspired of God, his bottom line response to me was, it is a matter of faith. He based that on his life experiences.

  Utimately, each and every one of us will have to make up our own minds in these matters. Someone else's belief and experiences are theirs alone and they cannot save you.

  I walked off the job today....

  can't explain this one.. right in the middle of my shift i became disassociative.. my brain locked and i threw my hands up and kept repeating, "i can't do this!

  right out the front door of the bookstore.. i wasn't angry.

  Terry! Just a suggestion, I'm no doctor, however, It could be that your brain is tired. You are a thinker and that takes a lot of mental work. When was the last time that you took out time for yourself and just did nothing? It's hard to shut the mind off. Some kind of diversion from your regular routine might be the break you need.

  Wishing you all the best, take good care of yourself. You have many friends here who care very much for you. You are a giver and givers just like caretakers suffer from giving and caring for others more than themselves.

  Censorship, when to apply it?

  kathy griffin won an emmy award for her reality show " my life on the d list.

  " in her speech, griffin said that a lot of people come up here and thank jesus for this award.

  i want you to know that no one had less to do with this award than jesus.. she went on to hold up her emmy, make an off-color remark about christ and proclaim,"this award is my god now!".

  As far as wearing tee-shirts that have profanity printed on them, malls where families go to eat and shop have standards of conduct that do not allow it. The reason is that malls are privately owned and shoppers are guests on private property that is open to the public. This is not censorship, it is a standard of conduct expected of all who visit these malls.

  She joked that an award would move her to the C - List. She was right "C" as in censured.

  The TV Academy said that her raucous acceptance speech will be edited when the event, which was taped, is shown this Saturday on the E!

  Do you agree with the TV Academy? How far is too far? I have not seen or heard her on the emmy awards show.

  I do believe that these awards show should be about accepting the awards for the talent that your peers have recognized about you. Political and religious remarks should be restrained or respectfully kept at a minimun without offending what others believe got them where they are in the business. I.E. I want to thank The Lord, Jesus, God, Allah for this award.

  At the same time when is censorship to be applied?

  Will we see the GB replace 1914 with a new date in the next 30 years?

  ray franz mentioned in crisis of conscience that in 1980 schroeder, klein, and suiter proposed changing the start of "this generation" from 1914 to 1957. as the "this generation" doctrine has since mysteriously morphed any date associated with it is moot.

  however, as time marches on without the developments anticipated by the gb may they again pick a new year, this time for the invisible enthronement of christ, in an attempt to buy time and regain credibility?

  what dates or historical events would be likely choices?

  They are so busy with trying to ward off and slow down the pedophile cases coming at them that 1914 is the last thing on their minds at this time. The sept km has them trying to stop the rank and file from reading anything that will expose them for what they truely are.

  corollary to the often discussed religious shift from polytheism (including henotheism) to monotheism is a literary shift from mythology to theology.. mythology is essentially narrative.

  Also in line with the other comments made here is a thought that occured to me. By highlighting the name Jehovah, the Watchtower has de-emphasized the name of Jesus. All attention is focused on Jehovah as we can see from the many recent Watchtower study articles. As Blondie has asked many times in her "Comments" series, "Where is Jesus"?

  Even the Kingdom Melodies has reduced the number of songs that had praisees to Jesus in them to fewer and fewer songs and more and more praises to Jehovah songs.

  She is in her comfort zone. She does not know what to do if she is shaken from it. It becomes a shock to learn that what you believed is no longer true. It will take time and patience on your part. You answered her well. I'm sure that the sept km will be a discussion for some time to come among the rank and file.

  The End of Jehovah`s Witness`s

  we see alot of topics on the board about the end of the wbt$..i don`t think that will happen in our lifetime........so..lets change our focus..kingdom halls are getting fewer and fewer jw`s in them..congregations are being dissolved and kingdom halls are sold off..many jw`s are very unhappy and we see alot of them on this board.....the wbt$ is a billion dollar organization,they will survive for along time to come..........how about the jehovah`s witness`s?.......with fewer and fewer members..information about the wbt$ on the internet..and..some very depressed jehovah`s witness`s looking for a way out of the cult they are in.....will the "jehovah`s witness`s" survive?...outlaw

  Eventually the old generation will pass away. The younger generation will fade away. The Watchtower will still exist as a publishing corporation, continuing to invest in stocks and real estate. They will pay off as little as legally possible and a small number will be sacrificed to jail time.

  The Effect of Losing Elders

  losing elders in the us puts the organization into quite a dilemma.

  they hate large congregations.

  but can't split without enough appointed local 'enforcers'.

  Recently two elders in my congregation died months apart from each othe. One was 40 something the other 50 something. They both were doing most of the work. Heart attacks killed them. Did the strain of doing more, do more add to it???

  Narc, wasn't it Rutherford who made the name change to Jehovah to remove the followers of Russell from following him. This way he would control the rank and file with the new identity as Jehovah's Witnesses and cut all ties to Russell. I don't believe it had anything to do with doctrine.
