the idea the gospels are simply midrash has several problems associated with it.
one is that the genre as such did not exist yet in judaism as the midrashim are a few centuries later.
Yadda! Is Bart D. Ehrman credible? His book "Misquoting Jesus" the story behind who changed the Bible and why, is an interesting read. He writes about how mistakes and changes shaped the Bible we read today. It involves scribes, scholars and Bible translators. If this is true, then how can we even discuss the gospel accounts as if they were given to us in their original form?

I been around women all my life. I grew up with my mom and seven sisters. I have been married for 40 years to a great women. I don't know any other way. I can't think of a time when I was not around women. I am very comfortable around them.

i decided to live a healthier life and get some proper vitamins into my system other than poping a pill i'd get a juicer and start incorporating juiced veggies & fruit into my lifestyle.. in the begining drinking veggie juice - even with juiced apples wasn't the most delicious thing but i have to admit that the more i do it the more i enjoy it.. i juice a whole range of veggies from carrots to beets to celery.
and it definately has made a difference.
once a month i just juice - no food.
Loubelle, I remember back in the seventies there was this book that every one was recommending it was called "Back To Eden" it had a green garden cover. It taked about juices and veggies and fruits and said that God's original purpose was for man and woman to be veggie and fruit eaters.
We tried it for awhile and then went back to our old ways of eating. After all, we were not in that perfect garden of Eden.
Today you have to be very careful when it comes to eating and juicing fruits and veggies.

BIG GAME TONIGHT! Eagles and the Giants! A must win for the Eagles! I'm a Giants fan, always have been. Last year was good enough for me. To repeat is not easy, the Giants have a shot,7-1 they will be in the play-offs.

When they re-write the Bible and call it The New World Translation, the members are holding in their hands, their hope for a New World. They make many brackets in their version of what could of , should of , been the meaning of the verse. So that the verse fits into their doctrine of a New World on the threshold. That oringinal green Bible, now Black and Maroon with its title on the cover New World has impacted the members minds.
That to me is another way they can maintain their hold on the members. "New World" sounds nice!

About reviewing their history. Captives of a Concept says this on page 45 par:sub-heading, "How to Avoid Making This Mistake". Before considering their offer of a free Bible study one should ask for a HISTORY study first.........those who do a history study first don't ask for a Bible study later. Witnesses who do a history study later, after they were baptized, ( Like I did ) realize that they should of done it sooner, before they were baptized.
So Mini, that I believe is the answer to your question. We were all chasing the "CARROT". Some still are. And that is how they are able to keep their members.
