Some of those sound outlandish. Do you know of examples for all of them or is this simply a comedy piece?
I don't know if I should find this funny or very sad. It invokes both feelings simulanteously.
i've posted these years ago and was reminiscing, so i thought i would share the laugh with you again.. top 10 signs that jehovah's witnesses want to disfellowship you:.
10. there's two guys in suits staying all night outside your home in a four-door sedan.. 9. an elder you spoke to on the phone calls and asks you to repeat what you said the other day, but asks you to speak slowly and clearly.. 8. suddenly, jw friends stop by and ask an awful lot of the same questions.. 7. your laptop computer was moved, left on, or is missing.. 6. you left your car unlocked, it was thoroughly searched by someone but absolutely nothing is missing including your gps which was searched too.. 5. your boss asks if you are in trouble with the law or someone, stating some really polite men were asking about you and left some "tracts.".
4. someone picked up the cigarette butts around your back porch.. 3. the bartender at your favorite nightspot asks if you have ever before seen the guys in the corner booth that have been ordering "cokes" all evening and pulling out a camera everytime you order a beer.. 2. you receive registered mail and you already served on a jury this year.. 1. your jw mother who finally had accepted that you will never go back starts begging you to either go back to the kingdom hall or move with no forwarding address.. .

You guys make me feel so good. I am just so happy that I am not the only one thinking these things :)

I see what you did there Steve :)
However Christianity (at least true Christianity IMO) isn't about me, but about what we can do for the least among us.

I think there is a lot of ego involved when we say we know how the world should or shouldn't function. Our perspectives are so limited and even the smartests among us have tiny brains. Whos to say that if you where in charge the world wouldn't even be worse than it is?
This reminds me of an awesome Futurama episode called "Godfellas". Bender gets to play God for awhile. It goes horribly. The take away from the episode is that God wants to move in ways that are not obvious at all that he is moving. If God where to directly intervene it would mess everything up. We are the ones that need to go out and make a differnce. Gods mode of action is to work through us, and not by constantly setting aside the laws of physics to fix every percieved wrong in the world.
Changing the human heart is a MUCH bigger miracle than parting of the Red Sea(or any other physical intervention of God).

James Brown, wow, you sound like quite a character. I would love it if we could hang out and jam sometime :) I don't have the pro experince you do, I have mostly played for Church. I have some college level music classes and I have been around some great musicians that is how I have learned. However I am out of work now so I would love it if I could make money with music.
I would love to have a Hofner style bass, it has a similar tone to my bass but it is MUCH lighter. I fell in love with my bass in the music store because of its tone and playablity but it gets awefully heavy after a couple hours. (Kind of hard to test how you will like an instrument after several hours of playing in the music store)
My passion right now is recording. I recently got a zoom H6 portable digital recorder. It is amazing the sound quality that is possible now a days with a realitivly low cost portable device.. I really like making other people sound good. That is why I enjoy playing bass, recording, and running live sound boards.
Are you actually able to make money from recording? People pay good money to have a pro photographer/videoographer to record special events in their lifes. Why wouldn't they also spend good money to get high quality audio recordings as well?

I have an old Hondo acoustic guitar. It was probably from the 60's. It has a two ply front pannel and no truss rod. I didn't know untill I had it worked on it was a cheap guitar when it was made! The tech didn't want to work on it becasue he told me I could get a better one for a hundred bucks. A good friend of mine rescued it from a yard sale and reconditioned it for me to learn on. This same friend commited suicided a while latter so it holds special sentimental value to me. Even though it is a "cheap" guitar the tone is fabulous. I have tried other guitars but I would probably have to spend thousands to get a better tone.
I also play a Washburn AB95 a giant semi hollow body 35" scale 5 string bass. I learned bass because everywhere I go there is already several guitar players. Often I am better than the other guitar players but nobody seems to play bass. I love playing guitar if I am the only guitar player but that is almost never an option for me. When I play bass I get the whole low end all to myself :) (Do I sound like a snob?)

Jimmy Page is my hero when it comes to guitar! I just love the fact that he could rock so hard on an acoustic guitar. Everybody else playing the same type of music was playing electrics. Aslo he is used the ENTIRE fretboard. He played lead and rhythm at the same time. Most gutiar players have a few signiture riffs or styles, once you know them you can sound just like them. On the other hand.... every time I learn a Jimmy Page guitar song I learn something new about my instrument. Aspiring guitar players would do well to study his work.

Just a hint.... it is very possible they had studio musicians working on their records :) It is kind of an open secret that a lot of bands did this in the 60's and 70's.

Another thing... power chords are usually what a piano player plays with their left hand. When you are playing "bassy" notes you need a lot of speration between them so they don't clash. If you play a full three note chord all in the same ocative in the first couple octaves of the piano it will probably sound bad. Play the same chord up a bit higher and it sounds great. The lowest 3 or 4 strings on a guitar are considered "bass notes".

JB how many guitarists are there? Perhaps one is playing power chords and the others are filling in the harmony. So when you play it at home you play the full chords to make it sound like the full band?
