Why don't you just admit that you are at a loss now.

yesterday evening my wife and i were invited to friends house for new year's eve.
we met them when i was a christian and we have kept in touch.
they had a few other friends there as well, including the new church pastor and his wife.
Why don't you just admit that you are at a loss now.

when people willfully believe something without evidence, or contrary to evidence, are they neglecting thier moral responsibility?
so many people say faith is a virtue but i just can't comprehend why anyone would think that.
.
My faith is not blind.
By definition, faith is blind.
The clear consensus is that Jesus of Nazareth lived.
There is. There are also no documents contemporary with Jesus mentioning him.
I was taught by Elaine Pagels when she was not a believer.
So you've mentioned. Not sure of relevance?

The bible informs us that Jesus whilst on earth was indeed a carpenter.
No, it doesn't.
'If he existed'. Many unchallenged secular contemporary reports confirm it.
No, they don't.

FHN, you neither answered my question nor provided a specific example. All you managed was an attempt at a lecture. I would suggest, as a rational person, that if you don't like reading others views, perhaps a discussion board where others post their views may not be the place for one such as yourself, one who likes to, without a shred of self-realization or irony, louldy and frequently complain about people loudly proclaiming their views.
Physician, heal thyself.
i haven't really been on here in like, a year.
my stbx introduced me to this site and then a whole buch of life happened and i just sort of never had time for forums.
but here i am at 3am, another sleepless night, and i feel like i am simply lost.
During our separation I encouraged him to get out and experience life - I was all he'd known. I told him to learn about himself, make positive changes and become the best version of himself he could. Get laid - have a girlfriend or two or three.
I told him straight out my expectations, my needs from him. I said if these things weren't possible, let's just not even do this again because it hurts too much. I expressed that I needed stability, no substance abuse (drinking from time to time isn't a big thing, I'm talking about anything at all habitual and regular - he had a problem with abusing some drugs during our marriage), honesty
We had left the children with my parents to finish up the school year and I managed to visit them some... He picked them up in June and within two weeks of them coming home he changed entirely.
I'm not stupid...

To boldly claim that faith is not a virtue and anecdotal evidence is no evidence at all is not pressuring anyone to be an atheist. To show how easy it is to debunk the Bible and creation is not pressuring anyone to be an atheist. And even if you strongly disagree, a discussion forum is a most appropriate place to discuss/debate such things.

The only time I have any issue with atheists is when they try to pressure others to be atheists.
Do you have equal issue with people of any religion trying to gain converts also? If not, why not?
Yes, sadly they do. It happens here on JWN. It's bewildering, until you see that the atheists doing this used to be JWs.
Can you cite any specific examples? If so, have you taken it up with those specific people? If not, why not?
this pisses me off, after all the news agencies that point out that things such as the ferguson shooting were a white man killing a black "kid" (18 years old and if an 18 yr old is accused of commiting a sex crime then suddenly they are a "grown man").
now look at this story from ny times, "a 32-year-old marine was beaten by a group of men outside of a mississippi restaurant after he was warned it wasn't safe for white people in the wake of the michael brown killing in missouri," .
so black on white crime, i guess they can't say "a group of black men", it just has to be a group of men?
However the past 1 or 2 generations have had every opportunity to get education, college, and advance.
You do realize that is completely untrue, right?

I don't really see a viable alternative.
Police knowing the law they serve and not being assholes would be a viable alternative. Crazy, right?
