Watchtower and The X-Files
by StarTrekAngel ini've been watching the show all over again, with my kids.
we are in season 6 and there has been at least 3 mentions of jw in the show.. in one episode, mulder and scully get to a house and when they get there they realize the doorbell button has been ripped off.
they look at each other and mulder says "frustrated jehovah's witness?".

I meant to say Chris Carter, not Mark Snow

Today we watched one of the latest episodes in Season 6 and they are knocking on someones house. When they identify themselves as FBI agents, the homeowner asks "Jehovah's Witnesses?". Mulder says "No, but we do have a free copy of the Watchtower if you would like"
I also recall another mention by the Lone Gunmen.
Was Mark Snow a JW by any chance or anyone connected to the show?

Debating With Evolution Deniers is Just Like This
by cofty inarguing with those who reject scientific evidence can be like arguing about football; just as angry and passionate, but the goalposts keep moving, and one team doesn't exist.. read more here....

What I find the most amusing about the relentless efforts by JW or other religions to deny evolution, is that in a way, denying evolution contradicts their own explanations of God.
JWs constantly teach that the diversity of races, colors, smells, tastes, cultures, etc is show of Jehovah's love to humanity. They apply this to almost anything in life, society and nature. They also show the contrast ( I remember the video) to show you what the world would look like if everything tasted the same, looked the same, etc
Somehow this God of diversity, has created all of these things for humans, so that he could put them on a paradise that would look the same (see the pictures of paradise, they all look the same) all across the world and with an animal creation that is static and will remain the same for eternity....
To me, a God that would have sparked and promoted further diversity thru evolution, is a much more appealing God, in the same fashion as the diversity of colors, smells, tastes, races, etc.

This is, personally, the first time I finally read an official news report where there is a remark regarding what happens to the accuser who decides to speak up without a second witness. This is important. Most of us know this is how it goes down but most of the public reporting only concentrates on the two witness rule, leaving out the fact that there are repercussions for those who choose to exercise their right to appeal to the secular authorities.

What a rip off. I buy the Generac portables all the time here at work. They are being sold at retail prices even when they are admittedly used.
If you account for the tax exemptions and the discounts they probably get for a number of reasons, they are actually making money on this. That is the reason they are not being donated to local RBCs

LOL... he actually says he was shocked about an experience he had with his beard. He says when he showed up at the assembly, a brother approached him, someone he did not know and complemented him on it several times.
I told him that most likely that was someone who was also awaken but fearful of openly talking given the environment.
He also told me that during the lunch break, his dad asked him to have a conversation in private. His dad is usually going around during the assemblies because he is involved in the work. His dad confronted him and asked him if he had shared any of his doubts and findings with anyone (against his dad's advice). He assured his dad he had not. His dad told him that he was warned a brother had been assigned to follow his son around the assembly because he was known apostate.
