by notsurewheretogo inthe annual meeting of the governing body of jehovah's witnesses will be in october 2014.. .. in november 2013, just after the last one they published this now famous statement in the 15th of november 2013 watchtower page 16 paragraph 17 says:.
"at that time, the lifesaving direction that we receive from jehovahs organization may not appear practical from a human standpoint.
all of us must be ready to obey any instructions we may receive, whether these appear sound from a strategic or human standpoint or not.".

However I think that would open the bOrganisation to criticism if nothing happens. Kool Aid anyone? ;-)

Interesting talk with an uber dub relative today
by joe134cd inmy relative asked me a question today of why half the witnesses in this country had to travel to the opposite end of the country to attend a convention, when in some areas it would of been closer to attend a convention that was only 3.5 hours up the road.
i replied by saying the society could be getting some sort of benefits if they can prove they can bring x amount of dollars into the city.
she replied by saying they would never do that.

The Dublin "apostasy" after Ray Franz incident - searching for the audio testimony of John May
by Nostromo ingoogle is not my friend anymore, it seems, i cant find a thing.. i was searching for the audio file where john may, the elder from dublin, tells his story when he traveled to brooklyn to find out the truth about the ray franz incident.
i do not mean the talk of his that you can find on 4jehovah.org or 4witness.org, this was a different audio testimony where he just basically tells what happened to him and to his irish elder friend merriman when they wanted to discuss the rf issue with the gb.
i had this file once but cant find it anymore.

I remember John May gave a talk at the assembly called "Are you building with fire-resistant materials?"
When news of his apostasy got out there was shock that someone who would give such a talk could succumb.
Of course, the real real question was never asked: What would make someone who knows about "fire resistant" materials STILL leave? -

The Dublin/Ireland Apostasy of the 1970's
by Jim Dee inin jw land there is an account/gossip/talk of a great apostasy event in dublin in the late 1970s.
the society apparently had to send in an enforcer and the "dubs" were dealt with very harshly.. anybody any account/details of it?.

I remember walking past John May outside the RDS and he saw my lapel badge and shouted "They through me out for asking questions!"
I laughed at him, such was my indoctrination and 100% certainty of my beliefs.

if so, i am deeply sorry.
i was abused by a handful right from the start, presumably on the basis of the avatar picture (and 2001 vintage).. when visiting dubland, i often find that others start fights with me - for whatever reason, and i provide quite a supply of them - and when it doesn't quite go the way they expected, they cry persecution.

Seriously considering stepping down as Elder
by fader77 ini have been an elder for 6 years.
it's been the last 2 years or so that i've really seen the hypocrisy, but the ability to know the shenanigans of the society through the body of elders letters has kind of kept me in there.
i'm to the point now that i can't stand the hatred and bitterness that the body of elders has towards myself and my whole family.

I left because I couldn't countenance (is that a word?) being gay and going round the doors recruiting for an anti-gay religion.
I wasn't even a ministerial servant.
Being an elder and not believing must really f**K you up.

Freaking delusional mariage mates..
by Crazyguy inok so our dc was last week and we live about an hour and a half away from the meeting site.
so earlier in the year i heard my wife mention something about staying near by in a hotel.
now i'm thinking what the hell in a major city with several people shes going to have to get 2 rooms and the cost is going to be crazy high.
