Please keep talking Tammy, you and I both expose the foolishness of faith in our different ways.

To those who think like you, no doubt. To those who have faith, what you or what I say... should not matter one whit; but rather what Christ says.
I don't really think that your faith has changed all that much though. You and those who believe the same as you, alone, are right... and everyone else is wrong.

TEC, it may seem unfair to you, but it is not a double standard for the likes of Cofty or me to view believers in the all-powerful, all-wonderful to offer statements to the effect that it is right for God to pass the buck because ....[of whatever] and make statements about the condition of the universe that they say "He" created or the condition of men causing such problems.
I hit "enter" before finishing (thanks to the Bears/Lions game).
Edited to add: .....of men causing such problems HEAVIER.
So the thought is that believers are viewed more critically for the inaction of their God and their offering solutions that involve that same inactive God. -

I have to agree. Faith is at it's strongest when the evidence is at it's weakest.
Although it is impervious to reason, you would be surprised how many people do surprise themself and wake up to reality.
Of course you would simply write them off as never "really" having faith in the first place.

Otwo, it doesn't seem unfair to me... just untruthful/wrong.
But I don't consider it a double standard that you would challenge any statement made. However, if your statements are challenged back with the reasons that such suffering exists and some of you resort to name-calling and insults against a person's character... well, I don't understand that. And it IS a double standard if you also take issue theists for doing the same things (resorting to name-calling or insults) to you in say, an evolution thread.

No, I wouldn't. Unless their own words show that they did not. But someone can have faith... and then lose that faith (for various reasons; including placing it in something/someone false; instead of in Christ)

Let's go back to the moment of creation when the almighty was showing off planet earth with it's geological and meteorological systems.
One of the angels points out that there is a possibility of violent storms, earthquakes and tsunamis that would kill millions of the humans he was about to create.
A - God replied that he had built in a feedback loop so no storm at ground level would ever exceed 30mph and he had made sure that the tectonic plates would glide over each other without getting stuck
B - God said - fu** them, it will have to do.
Which one sounds like a loving, intelligent creator?

Okay, I was distracted. Here's the point.
If I am warm and well fed and do a few "token" things to help the suffering people on the other side of the world, and you offer prayer or preach to the suffering and offer nothing else, it might seem a double standard for me to say anything about your inaction.
But I don't have communication nor belief in that all-powerful, Mister Wonderful. I don't think he is there to save the day or not save the day. I recognize that all the help those people are going to get is from humans. I may be a bit self-concerned if I don't do much.
But a heavier "Tsk tsk tsk" goes to those that say that it's not Mister Wonderful's territory and that men brought this upon themselves.

Is A possible, and if so, what will be sacrificed/what possible side effects could come from that, and how do you know?
On top of that... here is a question for you, that my Lord asked me:
How many angels die in tsunamis or earthquakes or violent storms?
(angels = spirit beings = who we will be like (in that we will have spirit bodies). Adam and Eve already had the ability to move in and out of the spiritual realm - the garden of Eden (until Adam ate of death and they were given these vessels, long garments of skin that trapped sin and death in them... Paul also said that we were spirits trapped in clay vesels)
There already WAS a failsafe, Cofty. Same one that we will be given - spirit bodies (the white robe made clean in the blood - the life - of the lamb) when Christ returns.
Peace to you,

Revisiting for the sake of peace,
The thing I took issue with earlier in this thread was your personal confident statements such as the one that I refused to "look at Christ."
Many believers are confident that it is a trump card to say things like that.
I think my points on this thread have been made and discussed. It devolves like all such types of threads, so "Good day."
