I Am No Longer an Atheist

These things are part of a shifting, moving universe, they are going to happen because there is no "God" preventing them. (Regardless of whether you believe in him or not, he is not preventing them.)

I really don't think that believers are blaming God. No, that is not popular in today's climate. I think that believers are wasting a bunch of effort praying and turning to a God who didn't prevent such things and will not undo them. I include "Don't blame God" because when I read the likes of TEC's comments, I think believers actually think that unbelievers are BLAMING God when we take the position that God did nothing to stop the tragedy. God isn't there. I know that.

    One more thing, sorry.

Because it is not really about blame. My response was simply about the actual reasons why such things may happen. IF there is something done from a lack of love (like when companies deny connection to say, power lines and cancer... I don't know what is true about that, I am just using it as an example)... then yes, those men bear responsiblity for the children who are harmed by their lies and irresponsibiliy, and their 'bottom line (the almighty dollar)'.

I hope that is more clear.

    Peace to you,

When wealthy, warm, comfortable, well-fed Amercan christians like Tammy dare to speak on behalf of suffering humanity it makes my blood boil.

This is why I am not just an atheist but an anti-theist. I find Tammy's lame attempt at theodicy to be repugnant.

Your argument doesn't make any sense, and I bet you don't even disagree with the reasons FOR suffering that I also gave. (other than that you would not agree that God or Christ could warn people to get out of harms way, if they knew how to listen to Him) And I doubt you are a poor, cold, uncomfortable, underfed UK atheist.

If people like you would not use such events to say that God is evil (or non-existent), then people like me (not american) would not have to speak up on the issue of suffering in the world. Not that it matters; anyone can speak as to the issue of suffering in the world, no matter what country or background they come from.

I didn't give an argument. I said I find your lame apologetics to be repugnant.

You don't have a clue what suffering is and yet you blithely blame the victims. We have ben through it so many times.

There are some serious attempts by theists to explain suffering, your trite BS is odious.

I did not blame any victim for anything.

And you have no idea if I know what suffering is or not. You do not know me... and you do not anything from my life. So who is being judgmental now?

It is this smug, self-satisfied, self-righteous christian hubris that makes me an opponent of theism.

Faith demonstrably does not equate with anything virteous.

Judging... while condemning someone for judging (according to you)... is hypocrisy.

People in Israel and Europe and the West get sick, starve, suffer, die... also.

    "True believers" included.

Christ certainly never said to his own that they would not suffer in this world... just the opposite.

THAT is part of THIS world.

    Peace,

    tammy
