Is it true that only the anointed have Jesus Christ as their mediator? And the rest, the Great Crowd, must associate with the diminishing 8,000 anointed to have a semblance of relationship with Christ?

Is it true that only the anointed have Jesus Christ as their mediator?
Yes, I believe that "adjustment" was made in the early to mid 1980's. But they still consider Jesus their "Ransomer".

Hi guys, and Eddie,
I don't think the Reasoning book is lying. I go along with what Tetra said. The whole thing boils down to: they're misled by the misled, and their Jesus is the "now reigning king" (how often at the end of a prayer would you hear that) whose kingship means absolutely nothing since the 1000 year reign hasn't started and he kicked satan out of heaven (woo hoo, big deal) and let satan run around the earth trying to mislead everyone to Gehenna, even the "chosen ones." It's absolutely silly and NOT to be taken any more seriously than Achilles' fight with Hector or any other good/evil battle with humans stuck in the middle.
And, Eddie, I know you still have feelings for the teachings of JWs, and it's right to defend them when they are misrepresented, but really man, JWs exhibit some of the worst cultlike characteristics in any organized group.

Ed,
They certainly are a cult. I think it is on your site where you infer that because 'cult experts' profit from what they do it somehow invalidates anything they have to say, yet I did notice the little $$$ signs in the corner of your site where you solicit funds as well. Do you see this as just a little bit hypocritical?

Howdy Carla,Actually if you read carefully I do not say that everything that "cult-experts" may say is "invalid". In fact I mention that in some instances they are doing a good public service and have counseled persons who were in need of help.
My assertion is that cult-experts are not as careful as academics, namely sociologists, in making determinations of what groups should properly be identified as a cult, perhaps in part this is due to their benefiting financially. My assertion is that they have no incentive to be limiting and every incentive to be as inclusive as possible so that they have a wider audience, bolster their own standing and status and of course have more potential clients. Thus some cult experts like Steve Hassan erroneously list Jehovah's Witnesses among their cult lists even though it is apparent that they have never engaged in real field study or any in-depth case studies (of Jehovah's Witnesses), the way sociologists or even psychologists might do.
As for the "$" issue with my site, operating a website, whether this one JWD, Quotes, Randy's sites, etc. takes a little money and it is normal to have a donation page. (Actually that page I will also list anyone who wants to sell something JW related so it is just a page where I have all of the commercial business.) Also for me as I am still writing most of the content of the site, it takes some of my time. If anyone wants to donate that is great, it helps out with some of the costs. But the website is not how I make my living, so I have no financial incentive to be anything but truthful as accurate as I can be and as objective as I can be. This is a big difference between asking for a donation or selling a product completely on the side, and calling one's self an expert on certain groups, charging money for one's talks, counseling business, and plugging one's books on the subject. Cult-experts like Steve Hassan are in the BUSINESS of the cult-field make no mistake about it.

FinallyFree said: Of course, we all know that the only true god for JWs is the Trinity of the Watchtower Society, the Governing Body, and the Legal Department.
Amen brother......you took the words right out of my mouth. Their "looking to Jesus" as their ruler is done more with lip service than in practice. Because if they actually were trying to model their lives after Jesus, they wouldn't have a thousand man made rules for the R&F, and they certainly wouldn't have the judgemental attitude towards the entire world that they do.
I would say that yes, the Reasoning Book is lying on this, because everyone here knows that if it comes down to a choice between following Jesus' teachings and following the Governing Body's teachings, the latter takes precendent over all. -

I can say without reservation and with a clear conscience that the Jehovah's Witnesses ARE a cult.
And while they do not follow a single individual today (there are no prominent charasmatic leaders like Russell or Rutherford), the JWs DO (and this is without question) follow whatever The Watchtower prints! They follow a man-made corporate leader.

I agree with what this person said----->>>>>>"I would say that yes, the Reasoning Book is lying on this, because everyone here knows that if it comes down to a choice between following Jesus' teachings and following the Governing Body's teachings, the latter takes precendent over all."

All witnesses look towards the society for answers not Christ. Here's a small example of salvation.
by Christ is different then WT salvation....................
km 11/90 Page . 1 Directing Bible Students to Jehovah's Organization
1 Bible students need to get acquainted with the organization of the "one flock" Jesus spoke about at John 10:16. They must appreciate that identifying themselves with Jehovah's organization is essential to their salvation. (Rev. 7:9, 10, 15) Therefore, we should start directing our Bible students to the organization as soon as a Bible study is established.
One needn't need an organization..........
Watchtower 9/15/1993 Page. 22
They Compassionately Shepherd the Little Sheep
(4) Like sheep that get injured, some Christians have been hurt by what they perceive to be offensive conduct. Yet, if we are forgiving toward others, our heavenly Father will grant us needed forgiveness. (Colossians 3:12-14; 1 Peter 4:8) Some brothers or sisters may have received counsel or discipline that they felt was unjust. However, all of us can benefit from spiritual counsel and discipline, and it is comforting to know that Jehovah disciplines those for whom he has love. (Hebrews 12:4-11) Because they have not been given privileges of service for which they feel qualified, others have allowed resentment to create a rift between them and the congregation. But if we were to draw away from Jehovah's organization, there would be no place else to go for salvation and true joy.
There's always Christ to go too............
The Watchtower says:
"show our respect for Jehovah's organization, for she is our mother and the beloved wife of our heavenly Father, Jehovah God." (The Watchtower - May 1, 1957)
"Put faith in a victorious organization." (The Watchtower - March 1, 1979)
"come to Jehovah's organization for salvation." (The Watchtower - November 15, 1981)
"...stay by the faithful organization. How else can one get Jehovah's favor and blessing." (The Watchtower - July 15, 1996)
"gratitude for each and every blessing that we undeservedly receive from Jehovah and his organization." (The Watchtower - February 15, 1997
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Neither is there salvation in any other;for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved."(Acts 4:12}
"Wherefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him a name which is above every name,That are the name of Jesus every knee should bow of things in heaven, and things in the earth, and things under the earth. And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,to the glory of God the Father."(Philippians 2:9-11)
Romans 10:8-12,is good too.So the Watchtower has no authority to save..................

I do not see how a reasonable person could arrive at any other conclusion, but that the WTBTS is a cult. They have substituted a few leaders, that act as one leader in Brooklyn. Otherwise they fit the mold perfectly.
As to the lie in the reasoning book - it clearly is a lie. Part of a 'theocratic war strategem' no doubt.
I was a witness for most of my 50 years - I began to look to Jesus Christ as my leader [in actualality, though we gave it lip sevice occasionally as witnesses] when I left, not before.
