We have an older male family doctor and every year I HATE going to him for my pap test so this year I made an appointment at a womens clinic to have it done!

Amen Brooke! You hear this all the time from other women. So we're not alone. I like your gun waiting time! That's a good one. Only a few times if they had PMS then maybe they'd understand better. Juni :)

Gentlemen, does it matter to you when your S.O. goes to a male gynecologist ?

Trust me no woman who has a male gynecologist is saying to herself "my god the way he handles that speculum really turns me on!" And I would think for the most part most male gynecologist arent thinking "my god that cervix is really getting me hot!"

OK, OK, Mrs. J, I copy that. Just my usual thinking with the wrong head, I guess.

I for the life of me just couldn't see so well, how some men can have such a wonderful job like that and not be affected in the least by all the variety goods coming in and out of the door. For me It would be the equivalent of my working in a Reese's Cup factory.

And no I'm not gonna' add the campaign slogan, " There's no wrong way to eat a Reese's " either, thank you.

You all have been very helpful, honestly. I will now have a better way of judging how it is my wife is viewed by her OB / GYN. Even if I do think he's gonna' drool.

    Thanx Again.

Well Arthur I guess you feel that way because that's your woman and I understand that. Admittedly there are some perverts out there but most OB/GYNS aren't in it for personal sexual satisfaction. And I would suggest if youre really that uncomfortable with your woman going to a male doctor why not ask to tag along. She might say yes. My husband came with my a few times, granted it was because I was pregnant but he did sit in on a few examinations, pelvic and otherwise. You might even try to get to know her doctor, my husband did that also and really liked my doctor.

    Just a couple suggestions,

    Josie

OK, I get to "fess up" I can't tell you the last pap I had!! Our family doc has a female physician assistant. She's a god-send to the girls.

FYI: Anytime a male doc is doing any type of phycal exam, a female is required, by law, to be there!

Doesn't matter really. My last ob/gyn was a very nice man. He always, always asked me something and got my mind off what he was doing. I've had male doctors and I've had female ones and nurse/midwives to examine me. Andy doesn't care either way. The only person it might have bothered was my first husband. He had a lot of irrational jealousy issues.

First of all, Art, those are women, human beings, not just breasts, vulvae and vaginas coming in and out of the door. Is it hard to fathom that most doctors view their patients as people first? It would be very nice if all men would train themselves to see people first, rather than "the goods" first.

If I was a urologist, I figure that after a while, all penises would start to look pretty much alike. "Yawn. Another penis to examine."

I would rather have a man because some of the women are just jerks - especially if they have had a baby...They don't mind at all being rough and aren't as sympathetic listening to issues - especially if they've never had any medical issues.

I have to agree here. I have had a series of late miscarriages and when i have had a woman, especially those that have had no trouble having children, I have had very little sympathy or help. Where as the men seem to want to help even if they don' t understand. I live in the back of beyond so we don't get the same Doc all the time. Kinda sucks. I've gone to the Big Bad City (days drive) to visit specialist, still can't get the same one.

The nastiest thing I ever did see, was my ex-husband and an internal swab of a man's pride and joy. (This was part of the medical to become a resident of New Zealand). Hang on maybe i did have some satisfaction in this after all a girl goes through (thinking.... yeap defintly, did sorry guys).

Never had a female present when having internals, doesn't faze me, anyone who isn't my other half, visiting down thereabouts makes me uncomfortable.

I've never been to one either... I'm too scared/intimidated by the whole process..... I've entertained the thought of going but just can't bring myself to do it....
