I just want to get this thread back on the right track again. If you want to debate about whether it is or isn't ethical for the WTS to invest in certain stocks, start another thread. This thread is for following the $$ trail as you can see by the title. Let's take it from there.

This has always been a murky and fascinating subject for me. I was assured that the members of the gb don't make any money off this operation.

But somebody is? Somebody is selling the paper, the ink. Somebody is making money of the WT. They can't do everything internally.

And as for having capital for investment purposes; What legitemate reason could they have for having investment holdings. Every dime that comes in should be directed to advancing "the preaching work" if they are what they claim. They shouldn't be hoarding money! If they have money given to them in the form of a trust, why do they not cash it in to pay for more KH's and magazines?

You are right on for starting this thread. Someone is making money here. Maybe a better question is what liabilities does the WT have? Who has the power to manipulate the tower? I think there is a man behind the curtain, but it aint the gb.

I mean to draw a mafia-style power diagram one day of the WTS structure. When I was looking at the incorporation documents it occurred to me that the balance of power is ingeniously intertwixed. No one corporation can dominate the other without fatally wounding themselves. So you might follow the $$ trail and find out they are chasing their own tail. There MAY NOT be anybody in charge. The machine runs itself.

From what I remember, it works something like this;

1. The governing group holds copyright but has no control over $$ or the printing operations. They are the mouthpiece.

2. The printing operations produce but they don't hold copyright. If they broke away, they coudn't produce a single book they hold the plates for.

3. The CO/DO/Elder/Ministry Schools/Missionary groups draw in new members, "feed the sheep", send in orders and submit the $$$, but have no control over the content of the materials or the direction of the organization. They can be fired at any time if they don't follow the party line.

There's more, but I think this is the general structure of a three way, interdependent structure. None can stand alone. Any one that tries to break away finds themselves with no resources and no tools. Ingenious.

I think that as easy as it is to dig up dirt on the old WTS, maybe someone has some real bad evidence against them and that is the person or persons who are really benefiting from this Printing Corporation.

And since there is no Jehovah behind them, it will one day, soon I hope, COLLAPSE, and free all those poor brainwashed people, so they can at least enjoy some freedom and happiness before their lives are over!

IMO that is dishonest. For the moment I will give you the "WTS has no knowledge of the Henreitta fund". Would YOU accept a large sum of money from someone blindly? Or would you ask questions as to WHY and WHERE the money came from? Some people in society would not go beyond having there hand out, yet the WTS is supposed to be from gods channel, right? Shouldn't they make sure of all things and at least inquire as to where the money is coming from? Like Judas they are accepting blood money no matter how many ways you try to spin it...

The accounting department of the WTS is in control of paying the bills....We need a copy of all bills paid out. Not a chance do we have of receiving a copy of bills paid for any month out of the ORG.

I invested in stocks and I would have been df'd in a New York minute if I would have had any Phillip Morris holdings. We were instucted that if we did hold stocks in questionable companies that we should SELL them, irregardless of the consequences.
They should hold themselves to the same standards that they dish out for the rank and file.

Let me just add this small fact:

Phillip Morris is known as a tobacco company. Kraft foods is the largest food company in North America. Would you invest in Kraft? If you said "yes," then by doing so, did you also know that the Altria Group(MO), parent company of Phillip Morris, owns roughly 85% of Kraft(KFT)? Prior to 2001, if you wanted to invest in Kraft, you had to buy MO stock.

Ask any witness if they buy these brands:

Kraft
Jacobs
Maxwell House
Milka
Nabisco
Oreo
Oscar Mayer
Philadelphia

If they do, then they are contributing to the worldwide growth of the Altria Group, parent company of Phillip Morris. If it was a well known fact that Ray Franz owned, let's say Coca Cola, do you think witnesses would buy Coke? Of course not! Why not? Because the Society would come out and flatly say that to buy Coke would show support for Ray Franz.(c'mon, you all know this would be true - look at what they have said about certain genres of music) So if witnesses are buying Kraft food products, then they are surely supporting Altria, owner of the largest tobacco brand in the world. But witnesses will never look at it in that way.

This could be likened to the Catholic Church banning contraceptives, but owning Church & Dwight stock - CHD (Arm & Hammer products, Trojan condoms)
