I'm just wondering what next event the JW's are waiting for, or do they know?
I mean, God can't keep them in the dark, can he?

Many young JWs look forward to the assemblies and conventions so they can look for future mates.
I meant biblical prophecy like peace and secuity....
I guess that you're right blondie....
maybe peace in the Middle East,
Personally, I am looking forward to 12-21-12, just for the fun of it.
I think "A Century after 1914" (2014) makes for some interesting psychological baggage upon Jehovah's Witnesses.
But really, you hit the nail on the head. One of the major psychological crises within the Org right now is that for perhaps the first time in its history the Org doesn't have a solid belief or sense of urgency pointing towards either a date itself or a construct (like the 1914 Generation Doctrine) and it seems to be really causing some angst among the friends.
Couple this with the lack of strong leadership and the Org is presently at a place I like to call the "crossroads." What will happen from here is anyone's guess and a few of us are taking the initiative to get the Org headed somewhere.

At this point in time, JWs only want to hear the brother from the platform at the KH say,
"Brothers and sisters, the end has started. All those outside these walls are being destroyed."
the end has started. All those outside these walls are being destroyed."
But that would mean no more breaks at McDonalds in the field service, and no more donuts.
Don't worry, JH, I know plenty of JWs that can make cheeseburgers and donuts, at least until the supplies run out.
"Brothers and sisters, the end has started. All those outside these walls are being destroyed." This reminds me of a few years ago - we had quite a sizeable earthquake (by UK standards) a few miles away and one brother from my Dad's cong shouted to his wife "quick get your coat on - Armageddon's started" not sure what use her coat would have been lol
It could be almost any potentially world - shaking event to get them excited. I remember when Gorbachev resigned, our then - po thought that was it. He said from the platform that none of us should go to work again, we should be out in the service, because this must be it. He got excited about both Gulf wars, 9/11 and the invasion of Afghanistan as well. JWs are very good at seeing things that aren't really there in any big event.
That readiness to accept uncritically the so called significance of unusual events shows how naive, excitable and gullible they are.
What could they be waiting next? The coomunists that were supposed to tear Babylon apart have mainly departed from the scene. The notorious generation of 1914 can now be stretched out to 200 or 300 years. Perhaps they are waiting for the peace and security cry that will come shortly before the devastation of the world.
Basically there is nothing for them left to look forward to in the near future.
