okay urstruly, i have something to say to you. you may brush it off, and think i am some crazy apostate atheist, but whatever man. i am a human just like you, and i have something to say to you:

    • there is no ******* God.

when you can drop this and the associated baggage, and look into yourself in silence, you will see yourself. you don't even have to like what you see. it doesn't even have to be "good". you need to drop that doctrine too.

if you look hard enough at yourself, you may, you just may, start to see Jehovah. he's there. he is you.

    happy trails,

    TS

That is a brilliant letter auldsoul.

I wanted them to just let me walk away, they refused. At this point, if I am ever going to get to speak to my extended family again I have to bring down the organization.

That is exactly how i feel. I said as much to the judicial committee. You gave the committee a letter that was very well reasoned, that showed you still believe in God and the bible and just want to move on in peace. For them to insist on d/f you knowing full well the destructive effect it will have on your family then the elders have lost all sense of decency and reality. If a cult can do that it needs to be stopped.

Urstruly, the only way you can feel the way you do is because you were fortunate enough not to get baptised. But you need to think about all those minors that were manipulated into it. You also need to understand the incredible power the teachings have over the members minds, often even years after they leave.

I agree 100% with this statement. The problem is, I question if that is possible for someone who has not been where we are. It is not so hard for me to look at a given situation that I can't really identify with and say 'why don't they just get over it and move on'?

What does being free to you all mean? Being able to swear and live inmoral life? Like I mentioned before, I don't agree with many of their beliefs I do however admire the high moral standards which SOME of them really do try to live by, and even though I'm not one of them I live by those morals thought to me and I can assure you I believe I've "saved" myself from so much hardship. Believe me I should know, I work at gynecology clinic where you see 13yr old girls getting pregnant, I've seen a 14yr old girl who turned out to be positive with HIV, 20yr old who already has had 5 abortions, boys and girls with gonorrhea and chlamydia. Is that what being free is all about?

Trouble is - when some people hear all the wt lies about God ('specially when you say how you're experts and all), by nature they don't even want to know about it because truthful as they are it's not for them (promises or not), and having no respect for the proselytisers they dump the whole God thing too.

Did you not read, "if salt loses it's saltiness, people throw it out and trample it underfoot"

------------------------------------------------- Who then is really at fault for what you say happens "to free people"? you shut the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither enter yourselves, nor allow those who would enter to go in

I appreciate your posts urstruly, but I have to say this:

    Anybody who can post this

If you decide to have a blood transfusion after being a JW and you DF'd what's the big deal then?

doesn't understand the devastating effects the disfellowshipping and shunning policies have on families, friends and the emotional stability of those involved.

Good luck in your life and may God continue to bless you.

Morality is neither mystical nor rocket science; it is practical.

Morality consists of values by which you make decisions, choices by which you live and that guide your actions.

Being rational about how you live is more important than merely following instructions. A dog obeys commands. An individual selects the best option by a standard which ennobles his life.

Being a Jehovah's Witness is about learning how to sit up and beg, rollover and play dead.

Being an individual is about building your own life by using your intelligence to make wise choices. The wisdom of your choices is a practical matter and not a pavlovian response mechanism.

    HOPE?

Hope is a coin flip, a scratch-off lottery and a rabbit's foot rolled into one. The human mind seeks information bounded by reality and probability discovered through rational effort and discovery. The benumbed mind of the follower is narcotized by superstitious longings and vague cravings for a better existence.

    What are JW's called? SHEEP!

Ever wonder why they aren't called HUMAN BEINGS??

TS so do you believe in evolution?

Besides TS, it seems to me that for the most part you all believe in a Supreme Being, all I'm saying is don't you think he WILL do something about it with or without you? He has done it in the past way before anyone of us was even thinking or being born, what makes today any different? If this is some sort of "therapy" for some of you than continue your endeavor, but again, is there a need to put them down? If you don't believe in JW's teaching but still believe in Christ and remember his teachings didn't he say to love your enemy? Didn't he say not to return evil? Or what about the one that says that if they slapped you to turn your left cheek also? Not every JW is a hypocrite including some of the ones in "prominent" places. So is there ONE true religion? According to you all, which one is it? I think all religions just serve on purpose cause divisions that's why I don't belong to anyone of them, but I'm not going to nit pick each and one of them.

I'm sticking to my guns, they will PAY for all their wrongdoing for what it's worth everyone WILL pay for all their wrongdoing regardless or what I do or don't do, it's not up to me or anyone else for that matter. That's just my opinion.

By the way please excuse my translation of the bible verses, I wasn't ever really good with that, I'm just speaking what little I remember and I always attended (16yrs.) spanish congregations so I'm sure it's probably not the correct translation in the English bible, so please don't kill me for that, but I'm sure it's pretty self explanatory.

By the way, I'm getting pretty tired of this conversation, I'm not trying to change anyones mind, and I'm not changing either. I think there is SOME good, and I leave all in the Lords hands. That my .02 cents about the whole things and that's the end of that. Can't we all just get along? LOL

By the way, does anyone have a good diet? I'm trying to loose a few pounds before my 10th wedding anniversary my husband and I are going to Costa Rica in a couple of months I'd really like surprise him and fit into a really really small bikini!! LOL

Hey, urs, I'm happy to see you came back.

I'm celebrating my 10th this Feb. The best advice: cut calories and work out. Walk, run, go to a fitness club.

Look, I'm not going to try to change your mind. However, if you ask questions like some of what you have asked, then I hate to say it, you are going to have to try to understand that the answers are not going to be pro-jw, ever!

Many of the people on this board have been outright scarred by the Society.

You say God will take care of things in his time.

Well, let me say this in response to that:

Would you purposely harbor a criminal in your home?

I know for an absolute fact, that not only has the WTS harbored criminals, but that they themselves are criminals.

For years, it was encouraged to kidnap ill children out of hospitals if a blood transfusion was being threatened.

Not only, do I want to have nothing to do with the WTS at this point, but yes, urs, I am going to do my damndest to warn others that when they begin studying with the witnesses, there are things that they should know before hand.

And if I was a person studying, I can honestly say, I would want nothing to do with Any organization that has so much that they are hiding.

Truthfully, you are welcome to stay and check things out. I hope that you do.

We can get along and talk about other things. But you need to understand, no one is making you come back and stay. If you are going to come, you NEED to remember that lives HAVE BEEN DESTROYED.

Whether you have been a victim of their policies or not, these people have. In the same sense that you would not tell a rape victim to just get over it, please don't come around here trying to make us feel guilty for the pain and hurt that we feel that has been inflicted on us by the WTS.

I'm not trying to minimize what you all say they've done. All I'm saying we will get our well deserved when God chooses that's all. Your entitled to do as you wish as well as the next person. Personally I think that if you let yourself become a victim you will that's always been my motto. I've never let anyone put me down or make me change my mind and I never will. Sticks and stones. I will stick around, but I still think God will do as he pleases when he pleases not I. That's all. Please don't hate me, but if you do, I guess there's really not much I can do about it right?

urstruly, I don't think those here are presuming to try to do God's job (many here don't even believe there is a God or Supreme Being). Yes, it is "therapy" for some to write their thoughts and experiences. Some are trying to help others through troubling times. Everyone has a reason for being here. You do too, or you wouldn't be here!

May I suggest, since you're tired of this conversation, that you start a new thread about your diet question? I don't have experience with dieting to lose weight so can't offer suggestions -- other than cut back the amount you eat and exercise more -- that just seems like it would work. But there seem to be some knowledgeable people here who would be glad to give you help.

Oh, and one more suggestion....... you said several times you're "not changing either". Don't close yourself to change, it is often healthy. Better yet, don't change, but do try to understand and appreciate others' viewpoints and feelings and why they might be different from yours -- it really does help us all get along.
