On Sundays sometimes I have since I did not like getting up early to get ready; I can't tell you how many times I would get to the meeting without a watchtower for the watchtower study or a songbook.

sometimes yes, sometimes no. If I was taking the Watchtower I would be very well prepared. If I was extreemly busy and no part on the SM or not taking the WT - I would get to meeting and underline key words in about 5 minutes.

i abosolutely abhored ''preparing'' for the meetings. then i discovered that if you read the question first and then scan over the first two or three sentences, 99.9% of the time, the answer was right there. dur....

After that, when I couldn't sleep at night, I would grab the watchtowers for the next couple of months and do them all at one time. I got so good that I could do 2 or 3 months worth of study articles in an hour or less. my mom never caught on.

So i guess i was prepared technically.

I agree. That's why I started doing my reviews/research long before I left. I snore unfortunately when I sleep.

    Prepared for what?

The mind numbing drivel spouted from god’s mouth-piece, via a bunch of frightened sheep dressed in cheap suits.

The only preparation required was a stiff drink and a soft pillow. Where was a man eating lion when I needed one?

I remember one elder that would ask us questions even if we didn't raise our hands....gee I hated that and with that elder, I had to prepare my meetings much better....not to look stupid when he asked me to comment

And he was the kind of person to ask questions about every darn biblical verse in the chapter. We had to know every one !!!!

He was a pain in the a**.

My siblings and I were required to prepare for all the meetings, with books and magazines underlined. This was what was part of our "After School Activities for Jehovah."

It's amazing though... I could underline a WT study article in five minutes or less. Tell you how "deep" it was.

I always thought of studying for the meetings as a word search puzzle. You read the questions and then circle the fewest words that answer it. This was a helpful skill in reading for comprehension. The only problem was the fact that the articles were not of any use once comprehended. Stopped studying when the fade began.

Oh man...I just had a flashback. When I was a kid there was an elder that used to call on people out of the blue, usually when no one raised their hands. This wasn't just at the book study but during the WT study or any other part he had at the KH. As a kid I was deathly afraid he would pick me to answer something I didn't know.

But he finally picked on the wrong person. He couldn't get anyone to raise their hand so he called on another elder to answer.

The elder in the audience wasn't really paying attention so he waited for the microphone to get to him and said, "I didn't have my hand up".

To which the conductor said, "That's okay, go ahead and give us your answer anyway."

This was priceless: "I didn't have my hand up. I'm not prepared to comment and I'm not going to comment."

The conductor turned red in the face and answered the question himself and moved on quickly to the next paragraph.
