I haven't prepared since I was little and I studied with my parents. I always underline a few sentences in the wt or the whatever BS book we are on so I look like a good witness. I usually just read scriptures for my answers, that takes no preparation. I don't think I've ever really read the KM.

I realize this goes against the grain of this thread, but here goes:

I studied everyting. I could never understand how people could come to the meetings without being prepared. I took the whole thing very seriously. I guess that's why I quit. Most dubs were just going through the motions. That's what made me realize it was all a lie.

when giving talks that were not properly studied or researched, we use to call it free-styling. I once got a public talk out the day I was giving the new outline for the first time.

Not once can I honestly say I prepared for a meeting. When I was a young heathen once I was sitting next to an elder who tried to scold me for showing up to "several" watchtower studies unprepared and that I should take personal bible study serious, word for word I told him that there was no need to study because the same suck ups will answer the same question 10 times before moving on to the next question anyway. I told him the bible encourages us to be studious and thrifty and studying beforehand would go against what god has instructed us to do. I am serious being able to look outside the trees to see the forrest sort of speak, it is a perfect way for them to control you. They make you think you are studying the bible but in actualality you studying what they want you to learn. Very few witnesses know how to actually study, as several posters have said the answer was always in the first couple of lines and the scriptures they wanted you to read where in parenthese. So people constantly get fed the same information... walking talking propaganda spewing clones... It is so sad really.

I was never prepared. When I was little I used to take naps during the meetings when I was with my grandparents, but then my step mom ratted me out to my grandparents. I had to stay awake..I was getting jabbed in the ribs every time I dozed off.

I never wrote my own script when it came to the Thursday night meetings & I had to "pretend" to do a house to house call or whatever they wanted. My mom wrote it for me cause I refused to do it & she didn't want to be embarrassed. I always got a good report. I tried to tell the elders that I didn't want to do it cause I was afraid of public speaking...which I still am. The elders said ok, then a week later I was scheduled to do another one..only on the main stage instead of the back room one. BASTARDS!!

There was only ever one Elder that I didn't want to disappoint because he was such a great person, always helping people for REAL (unlike the others), & he was very nice. When we moved I asked about him through my local elders & they said they didn't know him but they would find out for me....THEY NEVER DID. So after I left I asked through someone I knew who was still a JW & she asked her father who is an elder & he said he didn't know. My guess is that he's passed, last time I saw him he was almost 90 yrs old.
