Keeping in mind the WTS cultic interpretation of 1 Th 5:3 [Whenever it it is that they say "Peace and Security" then instant destruction will come......] I remember one year when the UN proclaimed a certain year [I think it was ' 86] to be the year of "Peace and Security"

This is no big deal because the UN often proclaims certain years to have certain themes: we've had the year"Of the Disabled", the year of "The Aged" etc. Anyway, this particular year, I [who had left about a year back] was bombarded by phone calls from my former associates almost hysterically telling me of the peril I was in. It was SO CLOSE!!! Special talks were scheduled here there and everywhere inviting all and sundry to listen.

In the herd mindset of the JWs all this was forgotten and discarded the very next year. In fact with the selective amnesia so characteristic of the JWs many who had indeed called me up on the phone the year before, maintained a total silence.

I think the tragic thing is that they were neither apologetic nor responsive, simply moved on as if nothing had happened.

    Till the next hullabaloo

    Cheers

    Hmm...........

Guess the preaching will stop, when it is exposed for the lunacy it really is.

Kind of like still trying to preach the whole world is flat thing in 1493.

Maybe it is a "great tribulation" to false prophets.

I guess it can be anything they say it is, and millions will buy it for awhile.

But pretty soon they will run out of sheep to screw....then they will try to either follow the truth, or try to take out the source of their "tribulation". IMO

    They have already lost.

Doesn't this guy at the bottom right corner of the picture look like Will Smith?

Perhaps this might be a scene from Independence Day; maybe aliens will be soon landing here

My boyfriend problems will be solved. Yoo Hooo, hallelujah! I wonder how long it's gonna take for me to be thin and young again?? Forever, here I come! (Jumps up and clicks heels)

It was my understanding that armageddon started in 1919 whenever the bible students were given the nod for FDS . It's an invisible war that puts the "anointed" at war with the world , kings and false prophets . It ends on the great fear inspiring day of God Almighty. It's hard to say when the tribulation actually starts but it does sound like it gets pretty bad .

Mark 13:32 “ Concerning that day or the hour nobody knows ,
neither the angels in heaven nor the Son, but the Father.

Last Christmas, I was talking to my pioneer stepmother, and she said the CO gave a talk at the pioneer school where he suggested they be prepared for the possibility that the end will come before the 2010 Winter Olympics, which will be held in our area so it is a topic of interest around here.

Well, she has been repeating this info to her return visits and Bible Studies and all in the family. I said why are you encouraging everyone to focus on a date. She said it wasn't her date, this was from the CO. My husband and I told her that he was wrong for speculating publicly on a date like that. She said, "What's wrong with that? It creates a sense of urgency in our door to door ministry! It could help to spark people's interest in the truth!"

So, my reply was, "What's wrong is that it creates a false sense of urgency! The CO has absolutely no way of knowing when Armageddon is coming. What happens to all those bible studies or new baptees when the Olympics come and go with no sign of Armageddon? Haven't they learned their lesson from all the people who left after 1975?"

Well, she backed down after that and said, "OK, OK, I won't ever bring it up again, if I knew I was going to get this kind of reaction, I wouldn't have brought it up at all." She just didn't get that there was anything wrong with it? It's like they live in some kind of alternate reality where the end justifies the means.
