Aw you're just try'n ta trick Australians into this thread ..
emus are curious. often I'd wake up in the desert with emus thumping* outside. Once I let a couple of chicks come in, next minute the mother followed filling up the tent, I tried to shoo her out but she popped her head up, couldn't see a thing and panicked .. so there I was, one moment enjoying a peaceful breakfast, next moment in a shit fight for young and old with a thrashing emu. After what seemed like forever she tore a great hole in the tent and escaped with her chicks running after her .. leaving me with a demolished tent, some deep laserations and a very bruised ego.
*Emus make a deep thumping noise in their throat which you can imitate to call them from a long way away (which, for a beer, I'll be proud to demonstrate at any apostate gathering
Emus are big and can really mess up yer tent.
