Poppy is right on this...what they are doing could be unlawful in that you havent given the required consent; my advice is speak to the information commissioner and seek some advice about how to pursue the matter.

is it a typed or written list?
maybe they wouldnt notice if a new one was typed or written ommitting some names and replaced for the original
List of inactive publishers:
Sis. Lola Crookgut
Sis. Boo Merang
BWAHAHAHAHAHA
My thoughts...
First, they shouldn't be posting data or names publicly like that.
Second, if a letter is written (which will stir up a hornet's nest), it should be sent 'carboned' to a couple of places.
1) to the local fool.
2) CCed to the local branch of the WTBTS in UK
3) to a solicitor
That ought to get someone in that congregation in all sorts of hot water. Be sure to use names (of the local fool) when you write the letter, so the WTBTS in UK can know who's door to knock on.
It will also reveal your whereabouts, and they will be all over you.
Or maybe not.
Good Luck,
Jim TX
BTW, regardless of what elder posted it on the information board, the WTS makes the PO responsible for it. Send a copy of the letter to the whole elder body.
This is way out of the WTS official position on posting information on the board. I have been in congregations that included names amidst the other names assigned to a book study and I would go, "Whose that?" turning to my hubbie, who would say they don't come to many meetings, but there was no "inactive" identifier by their names.
Cruel, cruel, cruel...........perhaps they are trying to SHAME people into coming back. That's what God wants people who serve in SHAME and FEAR (not love).
Blondie (still amazed when she thinks about it)
Geesh, I'd be pissed too. This is one of those glaring instances that shows how out of touch and insular JW-world is, such an complete lack of basic common sense and decency to be posting your names like that.
wrong hands in times of persecution?
i can remember my mum digging through my stuff before they threw me out and removing my address books and anything that might have dubby friends phone numbers etc so they didnt fall into the hands of enemies.
theyre happy to list exjws on a board for them all to read, bet they wouldnt be so happy about a current and active jw list on a website. They'd prolly all be screaming about data protection then.
What about next time your sister is at hall cleaning and no one is looking she grab the list off the board and destroy it?
The WTS does not follow the law of the land. Their law is above all the right to privacy laws. Therefore they can put anyone's name up they want.
The good news is a lot of people won't even know who you are so the name will mean nothing to them. I know when I went to a meeting 5 years after I left Ithere were so many new faces and a lot of the old faces were MIA.
More good news - they didn't post your name on a list of DFed and DAed ones. You are marked as weak vs "to be shunned"
I think the is list is a way to make those in the hall who are inactive feel shamed and guilty for not doing what they are supposed to be doing.
It also sounds like they are cooking the books - more JWs than there really are.
I suppose you could go and demand your name be taken off the board but then they would probably DA you so you might not want to do that.
