I enjoyed the movies for light entertainment. I don't see why anyone would get any more worked up than over seeing a few of the Walt Disney animations.

Big Tex! Wow! I had no idea. Thanks for the insight into 'Harry'. Now you've got me all worried about Hagrid!
Daystar! You shock me with your lack of interest in serious literature!
Sirona - I agree with you totally. HP is just childrens fantasy. The kids can tell it's fantasy more than the adults. (Though I've often wished I could do a spell that would do all the housework like Mrs Weasley does!)
LittleToe - There are so many disney films that feature magic, Cinderella being only one. Yet these same people have ALL the Disney movies. Makes NO sense to me at all. All it is, is a bit of childrens fun and fantasy. (It certainly entertains the child in me).

Yep, doesn't look good for Hagrid. Some people think Ron will die, but I'm thinking Neville is in more danger than Ron.
Don't get me started on HP clues. (Malfoy bitten by a werewolf; Dumbledore already was dead throughout the book and so on). I'm an amazing nerd about it.

Big Tex! - Don't even think things like that about Ron!!! I think Ron is great. (I also have a thirteen year old son who is the spitting image of Ron)
What do you mean Dumbledore was dead all through the books?
Personally I think Neville will come up trumps and show he can be pretty nifty if he puts his mind to it.
Poor Malfoy! I hope not. I was hoping he might turn from the Dark Side and help Harry out!
I LOVE Harry Potter Nerds!!!!!

You've read "Half Blood Prince"? (hope so!)
Okay, so Dumbledore's hand was all withered and dead looking, right? Remember Dumbledore said he would have died when he found the ring Horcrux if it had not been for Snape. Now there are also several references throughout the book to the first Potions lesson in "Philospher's Stone" where Snape is telling the first years what knowledge of potions can do. Remember what one was? Snape said, "I can even put a stopper in death."
There is the theory, and I agree with it, that Dumbledore was fatally wounded by the curse Voldemort put on the ring and Snape "put a stopper" in his death, halting it only temporarily. This is why Dumbledore suddenly took a more active interest in teaching Harry, told the Dursleys about Sirius's death, Harry's inheritance, etc. and why Snape got the Defense Against the Dark Arts job. He knew his time was short. It's also why he couldn't pull memories from his head into the Pensieve any longer. Remember he had to pull his own memories from a glass phial.
This is why some people think Snape didn't kill Dumbledore, only that he removed the "stopper" and merely stupefied Dumbledore off the castle wall making it appear as if he had performed the Avada Kedavra. There is also the theory (and I'm not sure if I buy this one) that Dumbledore's Patronus was a phoenix and it appeared at his funeral meaning he might still be alive.
Don't even think things like that about Ron
The reason some think he will die is that red is the final stage of alchemy, which is what Rowling is doing with her 7 part series, and that since Sirius died in the black stage of alchemy, Dumbledore died in the white stage, Ron (red headed) will die in the last book. Those that buy into this theory say the last book will match the first wherein Ron sacrificed himself in the chess match. I lean more towards those that say the "red" death will be Hagrid since his first name means red as well as the fact that the three people most important in Harry's life were introduced in this order: Hagrid, Dumbledore and Sirius and then killed in (so far) reverse order: Sirius, Dumbledore and [?].
Poor Malfoy! I hope not. I was hoping he might turn from the Dark Side and help Harry out!
Afraid so. The mark on his arm is not the Dark Mark, but a werewolf bite. That's what he showed Borgin and then why he mentioned Fenrir Greyback. It's also why he looked thin and grey-skinned (remember Lupin's description) and he wouldn't look at Greyback at the end of the book. He also vanishes from time to time, going to the Shrieking Shack when he transforms.
I don't know if he will turn, but he and Harry will make their peace. It's a necessary part of the story.
Personally I think Neville will come up trumps and show he can be pretty nifty if he puts his mind to it.
I do too. I think he'll stand with Harry but my own theory is that he's doomed. I also think Snape will die, which will convince Harry that Dumbledore was right about Snape all along.
BTW have you figured out what all the Horcruxes are yet?
Told you I was an amazing HP nerd.

I overheard a conversation at work when Narnia was just coming out at the theater. One of the guys asked a woman there (BAC) why she would let her children watch Narnia and not HP. She said it was because HP teaches you how to cast spells.
I haven't watched either, so I can't comment if this is true or not.

Big Tex! Wow. You are a great HP nerd! I bow to your superior knowledge.
Yes, I have read Half Blood Prince, three times and the others too, and I'm working my way through them again.
No, I haven't figured out what the Horcruxes are. As far as I', aware, they're the ring, the pendant, possibly Nagini, Tom Riddle's diary, the goblet, (was that Hufflepuff's), and something of Gryffindors possibly. I stand ready to be informed. Eager minds await furthur information!!
BB - This lady, at the cinema, is funny! Does she really think that people cast spells waving bits of wood! I suppose it's ignorance that holds people in superstitious captivity.

About the first sentence here, ROFLMAO!!!! It does not teach you "how to cast spells". It shows children waving a wand about and saying latin words, then things start flying around. Ask your kid to do that and I guarantee you that things won't start flying around.
Do you have objections to watching HP?

Haven't you missed a green stage between White and Red (assuming a five stage rather than seven stage process)? -
