    The CO is coming

    Translated:

The regional sales manager is coming down to visit the branch office for a week to see if he can motivate the sales team to achieve greater performance. He will be meeting with the branches management team (elders) to discuss possible areas they could improve on and further he will be laying the law down with under performing sales team members as well as those not falling in with the franchise agreement.

This all reminds me of a description of the visit from head quoters to a branch business to assess their progress.

It was nicknamed "the seagull visit".

They all fly in and eat all the food. Then they shit all over every thing.

    Then they all fly out.

I guess next week will mark the CO visit at my congo. Should be loads of fun for all since last time he publicly humiliated and literally tongue lashed the ¨yoots¨ for dressing ¨worldly¨ and the Moms for ¨letting¨ their children cry.

Back in the '70's we had a CO who hated children, even bragged that he wasn't burdened down with the little buggers!

On the special occasion of one of his visits a newly studying couple with a baby came in late and the only seats available were up in the front row, well you guessed it the baby began to fuss during his Special Talk™ on Sunday. Mid sentence he stopped and asked the parents to take the fussing child out. The whole Congregation gasped! We all knew the struggles of this young couple and were all happy to see them come to the Special Talk™.

From what I gathered he got a real grilling from the Elders™ about that. We had a young Elder Body™ who all had children and knew too well the struggles that parents go through. The CO gave a personal apology to the family and they continued to study even got Baptized™.

Years later (about 10) they were part of the District Convention™ program and gave their experience of that day they were asked to take their fussy baby out......out comes grown up fussy baby (age 12) who was a regular axillary pioneer™.

I can't for the life of me remember what the experience was to show us R&F unless it was "How to Endure the Abuse of a CO".....oh and the family is no longer in the truth lie. They wised up!

That particular CO had a bad rap throughout the District™ and eventually was taken off the CO list. No wonder!

I always hated the CO's visits, too much fuss made over them, they were all arrogant men IMHO.

COs come in a few basic flavors

    1. Organizational above all else

    2. Totally ministry oriented (usually ex special pioneers)

    3. an Elders CO - all COs are elders anyway , but enjoy all the aspects of being an elder and loves being in elders company etc.

    4. A people person - good with families and people - these are sadly rarer

The more nasty and hateful the better when it comes to CO's. It helps the rank and file wake up if they get abused enough, lordy it helped me. Though the video that mkr32208 showed would be a nice butt whipping I'd love to see to these arrogant men. Of course I did meet some really kind CO's but darn they were far and few behind.

The last CO talk i was present for was by Scott Lechlitier (sic) Rockland Massachusetts cong circa 1990 this was as the Berlin Wall was coming down and things were exciting.I can almost remember word for word his final talk and his hints at how future developments would unfold.

Here and now in 2006 i can safely say that nearly everything outta his mouth was bullshit.--Danny Haszard

Minister, I hate to say it but I hope he keeps right on beating people up emotionally.

Careful with those wishes! If he beats them enough, maybe morale WILL improve!

I think I recall three distinct types of CO.

The vapid, smooth ones; the majority I'd say. Company men but not bad sorts.

Scum, like Devid Maltby, a totalitarian moron in a bad suit who needed to tend his exuberent nasal and aural hair before he started talking about grooming (a pioneer from Borneo lived in his left nostril).

And nice guys, one who really made the Congo feel good; I can think of one, can't recall his name, young chap.

Thinking back the whole "look busy the CO is coming" shit is funny, the BoE and Minis in a little frenetic dance. Like the Wizard of Oz visiting the Little People, not Umpalumpas, that's Dahl...

And the arrangement of the hospitatlity, the meals, the little envelopes, the after-visit talks on 'Special Needs', oh god we were stoopid...

Abuse doesn't mean people wake up and leave; ask all the abused women who stay with the abusive men in their lives.

To be fair, the C.O's vary.

We've had terribly miserable ones (they have wives) , mildly miserable (younger wife) and happy ones (got a divorce)
